Chapter 14
The next morning I woke up unusually alert, I was surprised because of how late I had fallen asleep. Thinking about last night made e scramble to find my phone, it was on the floor. I checked my phone for missed texts and I found two, both were from Jason. The first one made my heart melt, it read 'i luv u.' I scrolled to the second one and read 'guess u fell asleep..... good night and sweet dreams:).'
I was straightening my hair when my phone buzzed, signaling a new text. I picked up my phone and read 'good morning beautiful;).' I laughed to myself and texted him back. Somehow I managed to text Jason and get ready at the same time.
I was ready and about to go get in the car when my phone buzzed and I read 'hey look out ur window.' I did as he told me and when I looked outside I saw Jason leaning against his truck, in front of my house. I couldn't believe it.
I fumbled with the lock for a second trying to get outside as fast as possible. I finally got the door opened and ran outside into Jason's awaiting arms. When I pulled away I looked up at Jason and saw a huge grin on his face.
"Surprise," Jason whispered in my ear.
The whole way to school I couldn't quit smiling or talking. Eventually, Jason turned to me with a grin on his face and asked, "Allie did you take a happy pill this morning?"
I narrowed my eyes at him and stuck out my tongue at him, but didn't take him seriously. We pulled into the student parking lot and walked into the building hand in hand. This time I managed to persuade Jason to go hang out with Luke.
I was about to go to my locker when I caught sight of Jared. He just grinned at me and decided that I needed to talk to him. I walked over and said, "hey Jared."
"Hey Alls. So you and Jason are back together." He said it as a statement, not a question.
"Yeah Jared look I know......." I started but he interupted me.
"Alls I get it. I knew you liked him but I had to make an effort. Alls I liked you last year but I waited too late. I tried last year by asking you if you were going to Prom, but you said no and I didn't know how else to ask you. I like you and I wish you would pick me. It's ok, I guess I knew how you felt about Jason but I had to make an effort. I just need you to see that you always have an option."
"Jared I do love you but I love you like a best friend or a brother." I said trying to get him to see how I felt about him.
"Well I guess that's something. Friends?" He asked holding his hand out to me.
"Friends," I said shaking his hand.
Jared pulled me close and gave me a tight hug and whispered, "Love you Alls."
"Love you too," I said against Jared's chest as tears threatened to spill.
Chapter 15
The first month of Jason’s relationship and mine went by fast. I spent every waking moment with him. My amount of sleep was cut in half because I stayed up every night texting him. Every morning Jason picked me up for school and took me home every afternoon.
Throughout the month Jason and I have grown close. Somehow despite the rough start between them, Jason and Jared have become friends again. In the beginning Jason would get upset with me if I talked with Jared. As the month progressed Jason has come to trust me being friends with Jared.
I was woken up on the morning of February fourth, our one-month anniversary, by a phone call. "Hey baby," came Jason's familiar voice through the phone.
"Morning," I said groggily, my voice thick with sleep.
"Did I wake you up?" Jason asked.
"Kind of," I said, a little more alert.
"Sorry," Jason said, with only a touch of true regret in his voice.
"It's ok," I said, shaking off the last bit if sleep.
"Get dressed and I'll pick you up later." Jason said before hanging up the phone.
I swung my legs over the bed and quickly got dressed. I pulled on my jeans, shirt and boots. I quickly ran a brush through my hair and put on some mascara. I grabbed my jacket and my bag before running out the door.
I closed the door behind me and when I turned around I saw Jason leaning against his truck. I ran into Jason's outstretched arms and he picked me up and swung me around. When he set me down I heard him whisper, "happy anniversary baby," as he pulled a rose from behind his back.
"Oh my god! Jason I can't believe you remembered!" I shrieked as I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him.
Jason wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up as we kissed. Our lips moved together and I knew we were meant to be. "Of course I remembered. You are the best thing that's ever happened to me." Jason said against my lips as our kiss slowed and he set me down.
I slid into his truck and slid over to the passenger side. I moved close to Jason when he got in. Jason wrapped his arm around me and I leaned my head against his chest. As we drove I listened to the mix if country and rap music blaring through the speakers that Jason and I had made.
We got to school late and walked through the door just as the first bell rang. Jason walked with me patiently to my locker and then to English. Before letting me go to class Jason wrapped his arms around me and squeezed me tight. Once he released me he walked away, towards his own first period, with a grin stretched across his face.
I slid into my seat in English just as the tardy bell rang. As I sat down I felt something in my back pocket. I reached in my pocket and found a folded up sheet of paper. I opened it to find that it was a note from Jason. I read it not once, not twice, but three times. I smiled as I refolded it and tried to pay attention to the lesson, to no avail.
I spent all day finding sweet little notes from Jason everywhere. That afternoon when Jason dropped me off and walked me to the door he whispered, "I'll pick you up at seven. Get dressed for your surprise." Jason leaned down and gave me a quick kiss before walking away, leaving me shocked.
