CHAPTER TWENTY
BABY AND TEARS
"Thank you, Eminencia," said Naddie as the chambermaid gave her a glass of water.
The woman looked at her intently as she drank the water. Her suspicious stare aroused Naddie's curiousity.
"What is it, Eminencia?"
"Well," the maid spoke reluctantly, "A-Are you p-pregnant, Ms. Nadja?"
She almost choked when she heard that question. She chuckled.
"What? How did you come up with that question?"
Eminencia shrugged her shoulders. "Well, as you returned here, you began to vomit."
They glanced at the dirty mess that Naddie did to the sink in the bathroom of her suite as Naddie remained sitting at the side of her bed where she could easily see it.
She shook her head. "I can't be pregnant, Eminencia. Maybe, I got a fever or something-" she touched her forehead but she got confused when her skin wasn't that hot at all.
The chambermaid rolled her eyes. "I had 3 kids, Ms. Nadja. I know when I'm pregnant or not," she replied, giving her an accusing look.
"Can you please, leave me now? Thanks for the help," Naddie said as she glared at the chambermaid who followed her command and left her alone.
When she was already alone, Naddie caressed her tummy and looked at it.
Could it be? There's a possibility but..
She sighed. Whatever happens, everything would be okay. Naddie believed that everything would be okay.
Now, there's one thing to do, just to make sure.. a pregnancy test.
"Stop it, will you?" Belinda scowled as she rubbed Ronnie's back.
Veronica wanted to speak, but she kept on vomiting. She was kneeling by the toilet bowl and she kept on throwing-up.
"God, Ronnie, what happened to you? Vomiting so early in the morning?"
As she recovered, Belinda wiped Ronnie's stained mouth with a handkerchief after she flushed the toilet. Ronnie shook her head, there was this unbearable headache that she got after she left Ismael's suite.
"Ronnie, speak to me," Belinda pleaded as she sat at the couch beside Ronnie.
"I-I feel so weak.."
"Where have you been last night?" Belinda asked. Ronnie kept silent, and Belinda got a suspicion.
"Marky?" she spoke as she stared at Ronnie. "Are you pregnant, Ronnie?"
"No!" she yelled which stunned Belinda. She stood up and quickly ran to the seashore.
I can't be pregnant, no way.
Ronnie kept running until she dropped on her knees by the sandy shore. Her tears rolled down from her eyes.
How can I tell this to my family? I am here to work and send them money, not to add another problem..
She kept crying, until she felt Belinda's hands on her shoulders.
"Marky did this to you?" she asked.
Ronnie shook her head, and that surprised her friend.
"Not Marky?"
She looked at Belinda. Her friend felt pity for her.
"Not him, Belinda. He didn't touch me."
"You're raped!" she gasped.
Ronnie sobbed as Belinda embraced her. "N-No," she choked.
"What the hell?"
"I-I'm such a f-fool.."
She rubbed Ronnie's back. "Hush, hush," she said softly.
Daddy, I will tell you a very good news. I am pregnant, and I am carrying the first son of Mark Andres Federal. Yes, your cumpadre's elder son. Isn't that great?
Naddie kept on practicing that dialogue in her mind. She was pacing back and front inside her suite, reminiscing about the result that she got from the pregnancy test kit. It was positive and how glad she was.
She touched her tummy.
There, there, I will call your grandpa to tell the good news.
Naddie kept quiet for a second, as if she was listening to her baby's response. She smiled.
Nah, not now, baby. I will save your daddy for last. He'll be the last person who'll know your arrival.
She giggled. Marky would kill her if she deprived him from this news about their child, but she wanted to surprise him. She quickly pulled out her cellphone from the pocket of her loose shorts and dialled.
Her dad answered the phone. "What is it, Naddie?" he said as if he was disturbed from something.
"I want to tell you something," she replied.
"Is that important?"
"Yes," Naddie even nodded her head.
"What?"
"Well-" she was about to say it when her father interrupted her.
"God! Stella, what the-?" she heard her father's chuckle.
"Dad?"
"Later, Naddie. Your mommy wants a morning sex." Naddie could imagine that her father was grinning.
"Damn," she rolled her eyes. She returned the cellphone to her pocket when she heard the dial tone. Naddie had the idea that her father was walking back to his suite while they talked when he saw her mother, maybe, wearing a seductive lingerie to attract him. Her parents had a very strong bond, special love for each other and an energetic sex life and Naddie was used to it. But she couldn't help to feel irritated. Could their love-making be more important than her and Marky's baby?
Don't worry baby, maybe, I'll call your daddy. You know that I can't resist him.
She pulled out her cellphone again and called Marky.
"Marky?" she spoke.
"Dammit! What do you want?"
She gulped. He sounded so upset.
"Marky, I'm pregnant-"
"I don't care about you so, get lost!"
Naddie dropped her cellphone and remained frozen from where she stood.
Marky decided to take a shower when Ismael left his suite, after they had a short chat about their past. He decided to take a bubble bath in the bath tub. Stupid idea for him, but Marky wanted to indulge himself and think about Naddie. She would not be able to escape from him. After what happened last night, he was sure that Naddie could not say no to him when he proposed marriage to her.
He didn't care if she had been his girlfriend or not, he knew that Naddie was the right woman that he should marry. As he continued to think about that, he fell asleep. What woke him up was that soft thud from the door of his suite. Someone trespassed. He quickly stood up and covered his lower limbs with a white towel, tying the ends of the towel around his waist.
He heard his cellphone rang, which was resting upon the table in the living room of his suite. Marky crept silently near the door of the bathroom and peeked. He saw a familiar figure. It was a girl- a blonde girl. She had her back turned from him and was holding something that he couldn't see. Marky saw that familiar tattoo on her ankle. It was Germine, wearing flipflops, a denim mini skirt and a pink tank top.
"Dammit! What do you want?"
The girl looked shocked as she turned to look at him. She was holding his cellphone with her left hand. She was about to speak when Marky growled.
"I don't care about you so, get lost!"
She pushed a button from the cellphone and placed it on the glass table before she scanned his body with her eyes.
"Still the same grumpy man, huh?" she grinned.
"Stop it, you bitch," he sneered.
She stepped close to him and gazed fantastically at his bare muscular chest.
"Is this how you're going to welcome me?"
"Who says that you're welcome here?"
"Look, I came back-"
"I don't care," he interrupted.
The naughty girl played a dirty game. She pulled his towel to reveal his naked body. But before her eyes could see his body, Marky quickly held the towel and wrapped it around her head. Germine tried to speak, but what Marky heard was her muffled voice, which couldn't be understood. She tried to remove the towel from her head, because it was also making it hard for her to breathe. Marky gripped the towel tight, so she wouldn't be able to peek. He pushed her out of his suite. He quickly pulled his towel out of her head and slammed the door. She didnt' saw his naked body and Germine flinched before stomped her feet and left.
CHAPTER TWENTY ONE
EMERGENCY
Naddie cried.
Damn it! How could he do this to me?
She sobbed again. Naddie sat up and hugged her pillow tight. She bit her lower lip, threw the pillow away and caressed her tummy.
Mommy's crying, sorry baby..
She wiped her tears with her soft slender fingers and gulped.
Please, don't worry my baby, mommy's gonna try to stop crying, okay?
She sighed. She was pregnant and Marky didn't care. What should be done? She shook her head when an idea came to her mind. How could she explain everything to her parents? She was raised to be a sophisticated woman. A liberated woman who was wise and tough. She shook her head again. There was no other way but to ask for her parent's help.
Ismael walked along the sandy shores. He was planning to go to the employee's quarters to talk to Ronnie. His heart hammered harder and harder as he felt that he was getting closer to where she was. Well, he didn't know that there would be an interruption. Somebody was running and he couldn't control his overspeeding run, he crashed through Ismael and they fell on the sand. Ismael coughed as he tried to push himself up. He glared at Marky, who was also trying to stand up.
"You'll get me killed, Marky!" he yelled as he brushed away the sand from his skin.
"Listen," Marky panted, "Germine arrived."
"What?" Ismael's eyes widened.
Marky rolled his eyes. "You're not deaf, aren't you?" he said sarcastically. He didn't like repeating what he already said.
"Why is she here?"
"She's here to get me, what else?"
"That's a bummer, man," he sighed as he continued walking. Marky followed him.
"Is that all you're gonna say about it? It's Germine! The blonde freak!"
"So?" he said without looking at him.
"You gotta help me distract that woman! Put her focus on someone else, but me! Please, Ismael! Oh, please!"
Ismael looked at Marky. He knew Marky and Germine's history. They met in Germany. Marky paid Germine to pretend to be his sexual playmate, like all the other girls who did it for him to make his pretense of being satyriatic to be realistic. Unfortunately, Germine took her role seriously. Thank God, Marky managed to escape before Germine could rape him.
"You gotta reject her."
"I already did, but she's persistent!"
"How did she find out that you're here?"
"Dammit," Marky rolled his eyes, "Uncle Sebastian must've told her."
"Look, Marky, I will try to help you after I solve my problem."
"W-What?"
Ismael patted his brother's shoulder. "I gotta talk to Ronnie," he said softly.
"Ronnie?" he exclaimed. "Ronnie, who? Why? Is that a boy? Who is that Ronnie?"
Ismael ran his hand to his face. He hated it when Marky gave a lot of questions. "I'll tell you soon, for now, I need to talk to her," he replied before he ran away.
Her? Could that Ronnie be Veronica Celoza? Marky thought when Ismael left him.
"Damn it!" Mr. Herald Paralejas gasped in shock as Naddie invaded their bedroom.
Naddie rolled her eyes. She caught her parents in the middle of their sex. Bad timing. The couple quickly covered their bodies with a blanket.
"Have I taught you to knock before you enter?" Herald asked before he glanced at his daughter. "Shit," he muttered, "Your eyes are red."
She couldn't help it. Naddie sobbed. She quickly ran and jumped on their bed to fall on her parent's loving arms. Stella, Naddie's mother, ran her fingers through her daughter's hair as she embraced her.
Herald embraced Naddie and kissed her head.
"What happened?" Stella asked. She glanced at Herald and saw his teary eyes. "Why are you also crying?"
"I just missed our little Naddie cuddling herself to us," he replied as he wiped his tears with the back of his hand. Stella shook her head and looked at Naddie.
"Tell us, what's wrong, sweetie?" asked Stella, Naddie's black-haired mother who looked like a beautiful African woman.
Naddie looked at her mother's eyes. "Promise me that you won't be angry, mom."
"I promise."
"Dad?" Naddie glanced at Herald, who had a messy black hair and clean-shaved mustache.
"Yes. I promise," he replied.
"I.. I took a pregnancy test.."
"You're pregnant?" Stella gasped.
Naddie nodded. Herald held her shoulders and rotated her to face him.
"You're pregnant? Who's the father?"
"M-Marky," Naddie hesitated.
"Marky?"
"Mark Federal."
Her father's face brightened as he smiled, "Then, let's talk to the Federal-"
"He didn't want to take responsibility-" Naddie choked.
"What?" Herald growled. "Damn him! He want war? I'll give him and his family a war!"
"Calm down, Herald-" Stella was about to tell more things to her husband but she suddenly gasped as her husband jumped out from their bed and marched out of the room. She quickly covered her daughter's eyes with her hands.
"Daddy, stop!" said Naddie, who couldn't see a thing, when Herald was halfway to the door. He looked back as he continued walking.
"Nah! No one's gonna stop me! Lemme get my rifle and we'll see who'll surrender!" he snarled.
"Stop, Herald! Get back in here!" Stella screamed.
"Dammit, you're not gonna stop me!"
"Damn you! Are you really planning to go there naked?"
Herald looked at his naked body and shook his head. "Dammit," he muttered as he ran to the bathroom.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
REVELATION
Ismael reached the employee's quarter's at last. Sadly, a girl named Belinda told him that Ronnie was still asleep and should not be disturbed. He liked Belinda's frankness. She didn't care if she was telling him, a son of the resort's owner, to go away and come back when Ronnie was already feeling better.
You see, she kept crying this morning. She has a problem, it's better if she'll have a good sleep. Come back tomorrow if it was really necessary for you to do so, he remembered Belinda said that.
His heart was gnawned by guilt. It must had been his fault. It was about what happened last night, he knew it.
The night fell and Marky woke up. He found himself sleeping on a sitting position, his back was leaning to the wall across the door of Naddie's suite. He looked at his wristwatch.
God, I went here at 9 A.M.- no Naddie, looked around the resort- no Naddie, hid from Germine and returned here at 3 P.M. Still- no Naddie!
He sighed as he stood up and pushed the doorbell beside the door of Naddie's suite. He pressed the button continuosly until he gave up. He walked back to his suite.
Naddie was sleeping peacefully on her parent's bed as Stella ran her fingers through her hair. Herald was watching his wife's gesture toward their one and only daughter. Stella looked up and caught Herald flinched.
"She fell asleep early," she announced.
Herald avoided to look back to her eyes and remained quiet. He walked toward his drawer.
"Please, for our Naddie's sake, do not do what you're planning," she said. Stella foresaw what her husband was planning to do.
"Let me handle this, will you?" Herald scoffed. "This is also for Naddie's sake."
"The Federal are our good friends," she said as she stood up.
Herald took out a 45 calibre and placed it in his pocket, "But if they'll drag us to shame for putting Naddie in an embarrassing situation, they're not gonna be our good friends anymore."
"Look before you leap."
"I know what I'm doing, Stella," Herald said grimly as he turned to leave his wife. Stella nervously glanced at her daughter, sleeping peacefully.
Oh, Naddie, how could this happen to you? You just loved Marky since your childhood years, I know, but..
Stella sighed and sat beside Naddie to embrace her. She gently caressed her daughter's tummy.
Baby, this is your grandma..
Don Martin was sitting at the sofa beside his wife, Gracia and were talking intimately as they drank the red wine on their wine glasses. The room was filled with their family members and relatives. This would be their last night in Bella Amor before they went back to their normal lives in the cities and countries where their current residence was.
The room was lively, a 90's dance-pop music flowed in the air and some were dancing while the teenagers, who were not immune with an old music, grouped themselves and talked about their crushes, school, and anything about teens. The huge french doors slammed open and the surprised people saw Herald Paralejas as he crashed in and walked toward Don Martin.
"We've got to talk," he said in a rude manner.
Don Martin stood up. "What is it about, my comrade?" he said casually. Gracia also stood up. Everyone were quiet. The thought that a man trespassed a private penthouse where a family party was held made them nervous. Although he was one of the family's close friend, everybody were suspicious about Herald's reason for invading their party.
"Take a seat, my friend," Don Martin smiled.
"Shit, quit insulting me with a smile," Herald sneered.
"You're having a bad mood, eh?" he said calmly but puzzled at the same time.
Herald pulled out his 45 calibre and aimed it Don Martin's chest. Everybody gasped. Don Martin looked at him crossly.
"Damn it, what do you want, Herald?"
"Tell your son to put his filthy hands off of my daughter."
"Marky." Don Martin didn't have to guess who.
Herald pushed the gun close to Don Martin's chest. "Yes. After feasting on my Naddie's body, she's pregnant," he choked, his eyes were getting teary.
Don Martin looked at his friend with pity and sympathy. He pulled Herald close to give him a brotherly hug. Naddie's father dropped the gun and embraced his friend.
"Damn him. Damn your son, Martin," Herald cursed under his breath as he tried to strengthen his shaking voice.
"I'll get this thing settled, Herald."
Herald pushed him away. "No, Martin. I don't want any negotiations. All I want is your son, to stay away from my daughter. I'll kill him if I see him getting near my Naddie. I swear I'll do that."
Don Martin was fuming red with anger for Marky as he replied, "I will tell him."
"What should I do, Marky?" Ismael asked him as they sat on the sofa at Marky's suite.
He rubbed his chin. "Hmm.. Give Ronnie some time," he advised. He was relieved, Marky always had the feeling that Ronnie was the right woman for Ismael and how glad he was when he found out that Ismael loves her, although he didn't know her too well.
"But, she cried and-"
"She will learn to love you," Marky said, "For now, give her a break. Give her time to think and realize that you're the man for her."
"I hope she would realize that, her friend, Belinda, told me that she must be pregnant."
Marky looked at his brother with a pair of big wide eyes. "Whoa, man, you really got to have Ronnie for a wife!"
Ismael smiled. "So, how about you and Naddie?" he asked. Marky was about to speak but he realized something. He gasped at that realization.
"What?" Ismael asked.
"H-How if Naddie's pregnant too?"
"You- You.." Ismael couldn't continue what he was planning to say.
"Yes, we did. We did at the very same night," Marky confirmed.
It was Ismael's turn to speak when the door crashed open. Don Martin quickly walked toward them while Gracia and some of their relatives followed him.
"No, Martin! Stop!" Gracia pleaded as she embraced her husband, but Don Martin pulled her away and attacked Marky with a terrible punch.
"Ugh-" Marky stood up to welcome them but as he received the punch, he dropped back to the sofa.
His father continued to punch him, attack him with painful punches.
"Dad! Stop it!" Ismael pulled him away from Marky.
"Let me go! I will kill your brother, Ismael! I will!" he said furiously.
"What have I done?" Marky coughed as he stood up and distanced from his father.
"You! You scounderel! You raped Herald's daughter!" he pointed a finger at him.
Herald's daughter? he thought before her spoke, "Naddie?"
"Who else?" Don Martin tried to escape from Ismael's hold but their other male relatives helped him to cage the older man's body in their arms.
"I-I didn't rape her, we-"
"Dammit! Don't you dare to lie! What happened to your psychological therapies in Germany? You're still the same maniac! You're a shame to this family! How could you do this to the only daughter of Herald, my comrade!"
"Dad-"
"Don't you dare to answer back, young man! You rapist! Maniac!"
"Stop it!" Ismael growled, which took their attention.
He looked at his father straight to the eyes. "Stop it dad, it's time for you to know the truth," Ismael uttered.
"W-What? What truth?"
"Marky wasn't a sex maniac. It is me, who's satyriatic from the very start."
"I won't buy that alibi, Ismael!"
"Dad! Listen! I am satyriatic! Accept it! Marky has to pretend to be the one with the psychological disorder," he glanced at Marky, "to protect me from embarrasment."
Don Martin was startled. Every witness to that revelation were stunned.
Ismael's eyes were teary when he gazed at his father. "You- Dad, have a perfect son in Marky and I have a perfect brother in him. His love for me is brotherly and sacrificial."
"H-How about those women in Germany that he-"
"He didn't have sex with them. He paid them to pretend that they had sex to convince you," Ismael glanced at his brother again and grinned, "Marky's such a stupid jerk. I don't know if he wants to get a best actor award or what."
Marky forced a smile. How could he smile? He felt so embarrassed for Ismael. "Damn you Ismael, I tried to hide this for years and you revealed it," he spoke under his breath and no one heard that.
"B-But, you should have told me," Don Martin was calm now. His relatives released him from their arms.
"If Ismael told you that, he might have experienced what I did," Marky said coldly.
Don Martin ran to embrace his son. "M-Marky," his eyes were teary.
Marky sighed. Could he ever forgive his father?
If God could forgive, why can't I?
He was about to embrace his dad, but he quickly pushed him away and looked at him crossly.
Now what? he thought.
"Then, why did you rape Naddie?" he asked.
Marky's eyes widened and his jaws dropped open for a second before he answered, "I didn't rape her! W-We.." He was too shy to tell but he had to. "We made love, twice."
CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
GOODBYE, NADDIE
As Herald left that penthouse, he quickly went to their suite. Stella was still awake when he came. The tension wouldn't make her sleep. She quickly stood up and embraced her husband. Herald granted her a smack on her lips.
"W-What happened? Oh, Herald, tell me," she pleaded.
"Martin," he scoffed, "What an awesome guy." He released her from his arms and stormed their cabinet. He pulled out all their clothes and threw them on the bed, at Naddie's feet.
Stella took the clothes and arranged them. "What the-? What are you planning to do now?"
"Martin promised his cooperation, let's get out of here," Herald replied.
"What?" Stella asked. "Could you please explain everything to me?"
Herald squeezed all his clothes inside his bag. "Put all your things in your bag, we're leaving tonight."
"How can we do that? It's already nighttime and-"
"We will take one of Martin's helicopter. He let me borrow one."
"Why do we have to leave this very instant? I thought we'll stay longer for our.. second honeymoon."
Herald held her chin and raised it a little so that Stella would meet his eyes.
"We'll spend it somewhere else, but not here. Marky might touch our daughter, and I will never ever let that happen again."
Stella nodded. "Then, I should wake up Naddie."
Herald glanced at his daughter. "Isn't it bad for the baby?"
"No," Stella shook her head, "We can let her take a short nap on the helicopter or at the plane back to Manila."
"We're not going back to Manila," Herald explained as he zipped his bag, "We'll buy plane tickets to Spain and stay there for good."
Marky heard some coughs and snickers.
"What the-?" he blushed in embarrassment. How could he tell these people about how many times he made love with Naddie?
"Hey!" Don Martin exclaimed, remembering something. "Herald was planning to leave Bella Amor with his family this very instant! We should stop them so that we can make things clear!"
They quickly ran outside, going to Herald and Stella's suite. Marky stopped running, Ismael glanced at him.
"What the? Come on, Marky!" he scolded.
"No, I'm going to Naddie suite! You go to her parents' suite, I'll go to her room!"
Ismael shook his head and ran away, following the others.
Marky changed direction and ran to Naddie's suite. Her room was just on the same floor where his suite was, he just had to turn around a corner and pass by three suites before he finds it.
Herald and Stella were at the helipad, right at the top of the Bella Amor hotel second building. They were waiting for Naddie. Herald looked at his wristwatch.
"Naddie should hurry up," he uttered impatiently. He was beside the motionless helicopter while Stella was already sitting inside, looking out at the opened door.
"Be patient, remember that our Naddie is pregnant and she should move carefully," she said softly.
"I should have insisted to accompany her back to her suite," he said.
"Oh, don't you worry so much."
Suddenly, a bell boy came, carrying Naddie's huge bag of clothes.
"Where is she?" Herald asked him.
"She told me to take this here, she'll follow right after she take some of her things."
Herald sighed. Naddie should be at the helipad right now.
Marky stopped running when he turned around a corner. He saw what he was looking for at the hallway. Naddie locked the door of her suite and left the key in the keyhole. As she turned, carrying a light bag, she saw Marky.
She walked swiftly and tried to pass by Marky, but he held her arm.
"Where do you think are you going?" he said coldly, pretending that he was feeling angry or irritated at her in a calm manner.
"It's none of your concerns, you don't care about us, right?" she replied without looking at him.
Marky wanted to protest against what she said, but he remained calm. "Us? What do you mean with us?"
"Nothing," she said coldly.
"Are you pregnant, Naddie?" he glanced at her but she didn't look back.
"No."
"Liar."
"So, you already knew it, why do you have to ask?"
"I want to make sure."
"You don't have to make sure, it wasn't your concern anyway," she tugged her arm and walked away.
"Naddie!"
She stopped but, she didn't look back. He walked near her, and embraced her back. His hand caressed her tummy.
"S-She's in here.." Marky gasped.
"How sure are you that my baby is a girl?"
"She's our baby, Naddie."
She untangled his arms around her and left him.
"Naddie! Hey!" he called to make her stop, but she didn't. She turned around a corner.
Marky sighed heavily and ran to follow her, but he only saw Naddie rode the elevator. He tried to get in, but the doors closed so fast. He banged it with his fists.
"Naddie! Naddie! Open this!"
A guest peeked at the door of his suite and muttered, "You can try another elevator, you scounderel. I'm trying to get some sleep here!"
Marky rolled his eyes. You shall pay, you scounderel, he thought before he decided to leave and take the other elevator.
Stella embraced Naddie as she got inside the helicopter.
"Oh, Naddie, thank God, your'e safe," she whispered.
Naddie smiled. If only they knew that she met Marky before she arrived. Herald rode the helicopter and sat beside his wife.
"Make this tin can fly," Herald ordered the pilot, who quickly obeyed.
As the helicopter was about to fly, Don Martin arrived with Gracia, Ismael and two of Ismael's male cousins.
"Stop! Herald! Wait!" Don Martin yelled at the top of his lungs, waving his hands in the air.
Herald didn't saw that through the window, , since, he was looking at his daughter and talking to them.
The helicopter already touched the sky when Marky arrived.
"T-They're gone," Don Martin said as he patted his son's shoulder. Marky dropped on his knees and looked at the helicopter, which was turning to a single dot in the sky, just like the stars.
