This is something i did as exploration for my art folio, it isn't great but i liked it until I added the color. Anyone have any tips. I feel like something isn't right about it. Also did you get the feeling that the doll was neither child or adult? kind of ambiguous, if not how could I get this feeling? I made this up in my head so it wasn't copied of anything so the proportion will be slightly whacked.
First off, this seems to me as a child, and I wouldn't consider it as a adult. The big eyes, for one and then the little strand of hair on her/his forehead. And, last thing is probably the chubbiness in the face. It seems like it's more round than anything else, just like a child's. If you elongate the face, it would probably be the easiest thing to do to help it make a little less childish. Since dolls do have big eyes, making the eyes smaller is not something I would recommend.
I don't like the red under the eyes, and for me, that is what make me uncertain about this drawing. Although, I must say I love the nose and the mouth.
Overall, it's pretty good.

Making this up in your head without reference is very daring! I have to applaud you for your accuracy, because this does look just like a doll's face. *claps*
I love the boldness of her features, especially the eyes and lips. I mean they just pop right out and don't look two-dimensional or flat whatsoever. Your shading is pretty much perfect. For some reason I think her pupils should be even blacker and kind of shiny, but that's just me. I mean you don't want to give her so much expression that she looks human O_O
As for the coloring, all I can say is that practice makes perfect. I really don't ever hand color my works, I do it digitally. With the blue watercolor, I think you could've gone a bit darker. Also, it kind of bleeds a bit out of the irises, but that's expected. I think artists keep a bit of paper towel by their side to dab away the excess paint and moisture away before it dries, so I would suggest that. For the record I don't like the red under the eye, but I can see you tried to erase it

First off, I'll back up Other here by saying to me it is definitely a child. With only looking at the eyes, it could be a woman, but the second half of the face definitely tells me it's a child.
Second, the proportions, I would say are a bit off, but for a child doll, they really are good. You mesured everything so everything is where it should be. Maybe it seems off because the eyes are really really big? I don't know, they seem fine to me
Now the coloring... I love the blue in the eyes, it just makes them that more intense. My suggestion would be to color the lips as well, or the cheeks, or both. With only the top half colored, the dool really seems dead to me and I find it quite creepy. Maybe it is the effect you are looking for, because with the eyes colored, it just seems like her soul's waiting to be freed, so if it's the effect you wanted keep it as it is. But if not, then maybe it's what is missing?
Overall, I love your lines, they are perfect. I love the emotion you captured. It's really good for something out of your imagination Awesome work!
I absolutely love this! The eyes are quite piercing in contrast to everything else. To me, it's that inkling of life you'd never expect to see in a doll's eyes. Perhaps nothing is even close to being what it appears.
