You're a shinin' light
And you're burnin' bright
Oh what a wonderful sight
People adore you
Watch what you do
For they are proud of you
You do not anything more
And yet they continue to adore
Your every ignorant move across the floor

I'm across the room watching too,
You aren't fooling me with what you do
Not that specially gifted are you.
But in my dark corner am I
Not giving off any light
Not especially bright.
Nothing special do they see
When they turn to look at me
For I am not as talented as thee.

You better start watchin' your back
For the skills I own do you lack
I am going to start picking up your slack
Shining light am I too
But I can easily be brighter than you
So be wise and watch everything you do
I'm blinding the sun
And I'm hardly done
I am ten times brighter than you, my father's son.

Wow. This poem is really unique. I'm sorry I don't have much constructive criticism for you.
When this poem starts off, the reader feels like you are describing someone you admire, but by the end of the first stanza, we realize that we are very wrong. This really reminds me of the song "Everybody Loves You Now" by Billy Joel. I'm sorry I don;t have much else to say, but I really liked this.
Keep up the good work!

Interesting poem.
The sound of it is pretty fun at the start of the first stanza and throughout the third, but semi-dark elsewhere (kinda like the reviews here are supposed to be). That gives it a good three-part 'story' what with the very song-like quality.

To echo the suggestion of a much better poet than I, don't center without having a good reason for it (i.e. it adds something useful to the poem). Your rhyme scheme drops in one spot, and only one spot, and is therefore fairly glaring upon re-reading. However, it's a close rhyme, so you can *probably* get away with it. And "thee" seems like a forced rhyme.. I'd abandon the rhyming altogether, but that's a personal preference.
The language at times is pretentious by virtue of being faux-fancy: "am I" "thee" and so on. Most of the language is simpler and doesn't seem like it would be used by a speaker who also says "thee" and uses non-conventional sentence structures.

The twist at the end is interesting, as it seems to imply that the speaker and internal audience are one and the same, which is a neat way to do the "both demean and praise oneself" thing. A good poem, and it can get better if you want to work on it some more! If ya do, definitely add a bit of imagery.

Wow. This is really good. Very indepth and I love the last sentence. I would change the "Shinin'" and all those others to they're regular form of "ing". It just gives it a better flow. Also, just becuase it's a poem doesn't nescassarily mean it doesn't need punctuation, though I can see you started to add it at the end. But good job, I liked it very much!

People adore you,
Putting an "and" here gives it a better transistionWatch what you do
For they are proud of you
You do not anything moreThis sentence here is a little confusing, the way you worded it.
And yet they continue to adore, If you'd put a comma here it would give it a better transistion.

I agree with what RoseGryffindor has to say, especially about making Shinin' and burnin' into their -ing endings. I love how you completely turn the meaning of this poem from something wonderful and inspiring, into something dark and jealous. This style really draws the attention of the reader.
In the first stanza, when you say, "You do not anything more" I think it would be good to put, "You do not do anything more" This might make a little bit more sense.
One more thing: At the very end, I was wishing you could have gone on with the poem, and made it even longer, because I think that lots of people have gone through the exact same feelings before. Maybe the best way to make it longer is to elaborate more on each paragraph, just adding more details about the writer's feelings.
Great job though!!! Keep it up! You have a talent with capturing the true emotions of people.
