Valentines day and I got some lovely flowers from my darling friends. Critiques and comments would be super-duper awesome. I was playing with ISO and aperture settings on my Nikon and this is how it turned out.
Alright, first one I like. It makes a good impression on what's to come. I love the dark and the light playing on the rose What I like less are the leafs in the background, I find those distracting and I feel as if they are taking away from the details on the rose.
Second one is kind of cliche. But, again, I love the contrast; the white seems like it's glowing and the shadows are well captured.
Third one is my least favorite... for the simple reason that there is nothing in there that captures my attention. I just don't think there's anything special about it.
Fourth one is one of my favorite I love the focus on the flower. Again, cliche but I love.
Last one, is another of my favorites. I've got nothing to critique, I just love It makes me think of blossoms in the spring.
Wow. Just wow. I love these pictures, and I'm a fan of black and white. I'll do a photo by photo review, but I'll just start by saying that I don't have much to say on the side of constructive criticism.
1. I love this picture, and the fact that the focus point is not in the center of the picture makes it all the more interesting. I also love the light that's playing in there, and the contrast there is between the center of the rose and its petals.
2. This is a great picture as well. I like the black background, since it enhances the contrast between it and the flower. The shades look great, but I would add just a tad more. It might be a little bit too much though... You'd have to try. Also, I think this picture would look great in color, with the black background. But it's still awesome in black and white.
3. My least favorite picture. I find there's too much going on in there, and my eye can't focus on anything in particular. I think the flower just beside the rose is too much, and it would be better without it? I know you can't erase it or take it again... But I'm just trying to find what's wrong.
4. Another great picture, what a surprise. I love the blurriness in the background, it's really great. I don't have anything to say about that one...
5. I love this one as well, and I think, again, that it would be awesome in color. You can't go wrong with me with a black background.
6. Last one! The background makes it hard to focus on the flower in the first plan. Maybe more contrast would help with that? I'm not sure, but you will have to play a little bit with that, because it has a lot of potential, and my eyes can't quite get used to it...
Great work!
