The Shattered Symphony of Life

The symphony that was his soul
has been shattered,
crushed utterly as now falls into oblivion.

The ones he loved destroyed him.
The ones he trusted betrayed him.

His blissful life was thrown to the ground
at the feet of howling,
hungry animals who tore apart his happiness.

Now he is nothing more than a weak wretch,
a pitiful sight,
a body that is broken,
bloody and covered with the wounds inflicted
by his treasonous companions.

His mind is now lost,
trapped in a vicious realm
where he is forced to walk
towards infinity,
with no goal,
with only vain hope that
sanity will return.

He is shattered,
crushed,
and completely annihilated
yet he knows reality.

He is whole in his brokenness.

He knows that man seeks only
to satisfy himself.

What he was he is no longer.

His is a groveling, sickly creature
who subsists in life,
knowing, and only knowing,
understanding and yearning but
never acting.

But in that weakness,
in that sickness--that pathetic
state in which he dwells comes
cunning.

His tongue becomes sharps,
his mind sharper.

He is keen,
sharp,
smart,
and more intelligent than before,
but insane in his sanity.

His sense has become one that
is a sharp blade hungering for blood.

Ruthless,
bloodthirsty,
and mindless.

His appetite controls him,
and his longing for home consumes him.

In his ill-fated quest to re-attain happiness
he has found only hell.

He sees only through darkness,
and feels only with death.

As the silent symphony that was
his peaceful life is fragmented so too
is his reality,
so too is his mind.

The very essence that made him human
engulfed him as he hoped to see light.

Now he is something utterly and completely different.

He howls those cacophonous howls
and screeches as he waits to be fed.

He has turned to the beasts who ate him,
who birthed him in his death and bred a new
monster.

Now he is what he was.
He is unaware.
He is satisfied in his dis-satisfaction,
and wholly thoughtless.

In his new life he is bound by the same chains
which bound him for.

He is shackled by the same iron which he thought was
happiness.

But he never knew true happiness.
He thought only for a brief time.
He felt only for a few moments then turned
to them and let evil utterly take him.

He is beast,
but beast with different purpose,
to create more of those like
him who have been betrayed by
the monsters who gave their souls
for full satisfaction.

This is some amazing dramatic poetry. I feel the emotions ebing from the rhyme. It is unfortunate that heart break is the biggest cause of the greatest artwork and poetry.
to be continued.....

Thanks. Yes it is sad that most art comes from pain, but without what we do there would be no hope. Our pain is the hope for the future. Our words are the will that will drive those generations after us.
