April 8th
He stayed there a long time, but he got tired and left. He locked the door and left me without water and food. He knew I had water, I always did. The sink or the shower was my main source of water. I wonder how long he would leave me in here A few hours, A few days? It seemed impossible almost a year ago, but now its reality. I look out my window and really just wish I was normal.

April 9th
Today marks a year and it brings back bad memories. I woke up in the middle of the night, but what else is new. It’s about five a.m. and I sit at this desk with finally something to do, write my story so maybe someone can find it.
My parents were at work like they always were. They both worked in the city and so I was alone for two hours till they got home at five o’clock. I never was scared about being home alone. I just kept the door locked and did all my homework. I always rode my bike home, I just lived a mile from my school. It was a nice neighborhood never any trouble. A suburb just outside of Chicago. My parents only have a fifteen minute drive to the city.
My high school, Marilyn High School was in the Town of Jefferson Park which was not a very big town. Most the people in the city have never heard of it. There is nothing special it’s just a town for the people who can’t afford to live in Chicago. My parents own a restaurant in the city and so one of them comes home at five and then the other stays till closing. My mother usually is the one who comes home and makes sure my homework is done and I’m ready for school. I loved my parents a lot but my mom would always yell a lot. I never knew why i just guessed because of stress and that I never really had a good relationship with her. My dad on the other had is my best friend. I was more of a girl than acting like a guy (I’m not a tomboy) but everyone thinks that I should be because I hang out with my dad so much. But now I really miss my parents.
So it was April 6th of last year, and I was riding my bike like always, and I noticed a very old car. Usually no one is caught with a car like this unless it was going to be fixed. I didn’t think it was anything. I know I should of but I just thought it was going to be fixed. There was a guy in it. Black hair, olive skin, and dark eyes, he looked in his late thirties but he looked creepy. He gave me an odd look and he looked at me like he knew me. Gave me a really big smile and kept driving.
On that Monday, April 9th I got home and he was in my house. I knew I should have screamed but I was stupid. “What do you want sir?” I said as my mind started to think of ways to get out of here fast. He gave me one of those smiles he gave me a few days ago.
“Hi, sweetheart. You get to come with me. Would you like that?” He asked in a sweet voice that said you have no choice. I took off, and started to run. He caught up with me because the door wasn’t open. He took me in his arms and I got out of his grip. I ran as fast as I could and thank God for track because I was a fast runner. He didn’t run after me he got in his car and cut me off. I thought, ‘damn it.’ He drove right onto the sidewalk and locked me in his embrace. He threw me into his car and Mrs. James saw the car drive away. I was screaming for help and I hoped she called the cops but he had duct tape in his hands. He put a piece over my mouth. It was a very quick drive just five minutes. I remembered the house. I looked at that house all the time and wondered who lived there. The houses in this neighborhood were always big and so I always wondered why this one was so small. I always thought it was a pretty house and that some nice family lives there. I guess I was wrong.
I heard the police cars all around, but he parked the car in the garage and took me into the house. No one would ever suspect that he lived right here, in front of their noses. I still had my cell phone on me and I kept it in my pocket. I thought it was going to save me. I was going to use it later when I was alone. I would send a text to my mom because she would be looking for me. Then my phone beeped I had gotten a text. I took out my phone and it was from my mom but he took my phone before I could even read it. I only reached the nine button on the phone. If only my fingers were faster.
He ripped the duct tape off my mouth, “If you scream you are going to get it.” He raised his hand to hit me but never did. “Who… who…are…you?” I tried to speak but it was hard to talk. I didn’t know what he would do to me. At first I thought he was going to kill me but that would have been better than this.
“I’m almost like a father to you now. The first thing I’m going to do is this.”
He crushed my phone into tiny bits. So much for getting help. “Yeah kidnapping me for no good reason and then almost killing me. So are you going to be the father of the year?”
“You are so stupid, Samantha.” He slapped me across the face.
Through my tears I said, “How do you know my name?”
“I know you very well I have been observing you.”
“You have been stalking me.”
“Stalking is not a nice word Sammy.”
“Don’t call me that. You don’t even know me.”
He slapped me again, “You are going to learn to watch your tone, and I can call you whatever I want.”
“You can go to hell while you are at it.”
“That’s it.” That was the first time I saw the room I would be staying in. Up two flights of stairs and into the attic, I didn’t know what he was going to do to me. He pushed me so hard I slammed against the bed and fell. That was the first time I had ever felt pain mentally. My parents had never done that to me. It made a bruise in the morning, but nothing really hurts anymore.
He locked me in there, and I was in there for a whole day. Just water, no food, it was hard for me. I kicked and screamed, but now it’s easy to go a day, or even two, without food. I would sit, staring at the wall, with nothing to do, ‘till I found this journal in my desk. I had found it a long time ago but didn’t know what to do with it. This journal my temporary escape for insanity, or Alec, whichever comes first.
But, that night, I just looked out the window, hoping someone would find me, or even see me, but it never happened.

Hello!

I haven't read the first chapter, but I thought this was pretty good. I was hooked due to how worried I was about your MC. Something bad was happening, and I didn't like it. D: So you did that well!

There are quite a few grammar/spelling mistakes that got in the way as I read this. If you need a grammar check, just let me know. I'm just making a note of it for when you edit. :)

Now, my main concern is how fast this moved. I know she's writing a diary, which makes this challenging (and even I'm not sure how to go about this), but I think this went really fast. It also could be just the grammar that through me off (lots of run-on sentences), but I think this could have been a whole lot creepier if you went into detail or at least had your character struggle to write it down/say anything.

I'm not sure what the last paragraph means either. xD Does she ever get food? She can't make it after a few weeks without food, I don't think. (At least she has water though yay!) And I would certainly like to know why he's kidnapping her and letting her starve in a locked up room. o_O But of course, you'll answer that later. Just... o_O Creeper.

Anyway! There was really only one thing that I think needed help, which I already mentioned. Put in some more details or make the tone a little more creepy, sad, distressed, etc. Right now, there's no substance in the tone. In fact, not much tone. I just know bad things are happening to her, but the MC should express that in her diary entry. She naturally would. So try to get into her head as you write this. Be miserable, sad, angry, frustrated, depressed, etc. so that you know better how she'd speak/act.

This is an interesting story so far! You've got me interested in how things will turn out at this point. (Maybe it'll be a Beauty & the Beast thing. o: )

Keep writing!

Jabber, the One and Only!

EDIT: Grammar check as requested in the spoiler!

He stayed there a long time, but he got tired and left. He locked the door and left me without water and food. He knew I had water, [period or dash or colon instead] I always did. The sink or the shower was my main source of water. I wonder how long he would leave me in here. [<--period] A few hours, [question mark instead] A few days? It seemed impossible almost a year ago, but now its reality. I look out my window and really just wish I was normal.

Underlined: What seemed impossible? That this can last a few days? Or that this could ever happen to her? Careful with your pronouns!

Italicized: So the MC thinks she's not normal. Why? Why does she think she's special? Maybe mention that she doesn't know why she's different from all the other girls, and that she doesn't like being different anymore.

April 9th
Today marks a year, [<--comma] and it brings back bad memories. I woke up in the middle of the night, but what else is new. [question mark instead] It’s about five a.m., [<--comma] and I sit at this desk with finally something to do,[colon instead] write my story so maybe someone can find it.

[separate paragraphs]

My parents were at work like they always were. They both worked in the city, [<--comma] and so I was alone for two hours till they got home at five o’clock. I never was scared about being home alone. I just kept the door locked and did all my homework. I always rode my bike home, I just lived a mile from my school. It was a nice neighborhood never any trouble. A suburb just outside of Chicago. My parents only have a fifteen minute drive to the city.

Underlined: Wasn't the previous chapter April 6th? And she was already captured? Why are we talking about her parents now?

Italicized: She's in high school. Why would she be afraid? If anything, she would be excited! Most high schoolers like being home alone. It makes them feel responsible. :3 That or free. xD Keeping the door locked is good, but I don't think it's worth mentioning. Like I said, she's in high school. It'd be more important to mention she doesn't lock the door. Most high schoolers know better though. They'll lock it. :)

My high school, Marilyn High School, [<--comma] was in the Town of Jefferson Park, [<--comma] which was not a very big town. Most of the people in the city have never heard of it. There is nothing special. [<--period] it’s It's just a town for the people who can’t afford to live in Chicago. My parents own a restaurant in the city, [<--comma] and so one of them comes home at five and then the other stays till closing. My mother usually is the one who comes home and makes sure my homework is done and I’m ready for school. I loved my parents a lot, [<--comma] but my mom would always yell a lot. I never knew why. [<--period] i I just guessed because of stress and that I never really had a good relationship with her. My dad, [<--comma] on the other had hand, [<--comma] is my best friend. I was more of a girl than acting like acted more like a girl than a guy (I’m not a tomboy), [<--comma] but everyone thinks that I should be because I hang out with my dad so much. But now I really miss my parents.

Underlined: Really? XD That's weird. I guess I don't go hanging out with my dad like that, but I wouldn't think someone should be a tomboy 'cause they love their dad. That includes me. I'm not a tomboy, but I play games with my dad all the time. xD

So it was April 6th of last year, and I was riding my bike like always, [no comma] when and I noticed a very old car. Usually, [<--comma] no one is caught with a car like this unless it was going to be fixed. I didn’t think it was anything. I know I should of have, [<--comma] but I just thought it was going to be fixed. There was a guy in it. Black hair, olive skin, and dark eyes, [period instead] he He looked in his late thirties but he looked creepy. He gave me an odd look[b], [<--comma] and he looked at me like he knew me. Gave me a really big smile and kept driving[/b].

Underlined: This is a common mistake. Really common mistake. It bothers the heck out of me. xD This sounds like "should of," but it's actually "should've." It's a contraction for "should have." Same goes for "would've" and "could've."

Italicized: This is an info-dump on the man's appearance. You're listing his features, and as I said in chapter 1, this isn't a good idea. You can mention his hollow black eyes and unkept dark hair, but basic descriptions like these are empty and void.

Both: This is a great description of the man! It's creepy. I even got shivers when I read about his smile. That's creepy!

Red: This sentence doesn't make sense. I assume he gave the really big smile, but he kept driving too? I thought the car was stationary. If she's the one driving away, mention that "she" kept driving.

On that Monday, April 9th, [<--comma] I got home, [<--comma] and he was in my house. I knew I should have screamed, [<--comma] but I was stupid. “What do you want, [<--comma] sir?” I said as my mind started to think of ways to get out of here fast. He gave me one of those smiles he gave me a few days ago.

Another use of the comma. Always use commas when addressing people, even if you call them "sir" or "April 9th." And also, transitions like "On that Monday" deserves a comma after it. If you take that transition out, the sentence still makes sense. That's a trick when checking your commas. Commas separate fragments from the basic sentence. Take out the fragments, and you should end up with a simple sentence with subject and verb.

“Hi, sweetheart. You get to come with me. Would you like that?” He he asked in a sweet voice that said you I have had no choice. I took off, and started to run. He caught up with me because the door wasn’t open. He took me in his arms, [<--comma] and but I got out of his grip. I ran as fast as I could. [<--period] and thank Thank God for track because I was a fast runner I was too fast for him. He didn’t run after me. [<--period] he got in his car and cut me off. I thought, ‘damn it.’ He drove right onto the sidewalk and locked me in his embrace. He threw me into his car and Mrs. James saw the car drive away. I was screaming for help, [<--comma] and I hoped she called the cops but he had duct tape in his hands. He put a piece over my mouth. It was a very quick drive [period or dash or colon] just five minutes. I remembered the house. I looked at that house all the time and wondered who lived there. The houses in this neighborhood were always big, [<--comma] and so I always wondered why this one was so small. I always thought it was a pretty house and that some nice family lives there. I guess I was wrong.

Underlined: This doesn't make sense to me. Why would he catch up to you if the door wasn't open? I thought that maybe you ran out of the house and closed the door behind you, which would result in slowing him down. I guess I'm wrong 'cause he did catch up. o_O

Italicized: The MC is thanking God for track because she's fast? Sooo God gave her track to put her fast running to use, right? (Nooo.) No, that's not what you're trying to say. xD The MC is thanking God for track because she's able to out-run him for this long. She can either thank God for track or fast running, but she can't thank God for one because of the other.

Both: This should be more dramatic. I'd recommend using italics for the thought and ditching the "she thought" tag. Italics is the default thought bubble in writing.

Red: She was thrown into the car! How'd she know Mrs. James saw her? You may have to split this into more than one sentence. She was thrown into the car. Eventually, she'll sit up and start slamming on the windows or trying to open the door. She'll show signs of struggle, and that's when she'll notice Mrs. James watching.

Green: There are three clauses in this sentence. "I was screaming for help" will be taken care of after you edit what I mentioned in Red. "I hoped she called the cops" will also be taken care of with the previous Red section. However! Look at this entire sentence at a whole. Each clause (including "he had duct tape in his hands") doesn't have anything to do with each other. One doesn't lead to the other. Screaming for help doesn't have any close connection with hoping she called the cops. Those should probably be separate sentences. It's more dramatic anyway. The last clause has absolutely nothing to do with the previous too. You use the word "but," implying that the duct tape is a negative impact on something. How will this effect her hopes that Mrs. James called the cops? It doesn't. xD

Blue: This is just repetition of "I did this" and "I did that." I suggest rephrasing some sentences to get rid of that. It can get annoying quickly.

I heard the police cars all around, but he parked the car in the garage and took me into the house. No one would ever suspect that he lived right here, in front of their noses. I still had my cell phone on me, [<--comma] and I kept it in my pocket. I thought it was going to save me. I was going to use it later when I was alone. I would send a text to my mom because she would be looking for me. Then my phone beeped [period or dash or colon] I had gotten a text. I took out my phone, [<--comma] and it was from my mom, [<--comma] but he took my phone before I could even read it. I only reached the nine button on the phone. If only my fingers were faster.
He ripped the duct tape off my mouth, [period instead] “If you scream, [<--comma] you are going to get it.” He raised his hand to hit me but never did. “Who… who…are…you?” I tried to speak, [<--comma] but it was hard to talk. I didn’t know what he would do to me. At first, [<--comma] I thought he was going to kill me, [<--comma] but that would have been better than this.

Underlined: She heard the police cars, but not one of them saw him dragging her into the house? I don't think the police cars were "all around" then. Probably in the distance, not quite there yet.

Italicized: Why is nine important? I assume 911, but I'll be honest: I didn't think of that 'til *just* now. xD

Also, I suggest starting a new paragraph when there's a line of dialogue in the middle of a huge paragraph. It breaks it up and makes it easier to read. So a paragraph break before the "If you scream, you are going to get it" quote.

“I’m almost like a father to you now. The first thing I’m going to do is this.” [no paragraph break] He crushed my phone into tiny bits. So much for getting help.

[paragraph break]

“Yeah, [<--comma] kidnapping me for no good reason and then almost killing me. So are you going to be the father of the year?”
“You are so stupid, Samantha.” He slapped me across the face.
Through my tears, [<--comma] I said, “How do you know my name?”
“I know you very well. [<--period] I have been observing you.”
“You have been stalking me.”
“Stalking is not a nice word, [<--comma] Sammy.”
“Don’t call me that. You don’t even know me.”
He slapped me again, [period instead] “You are going to learn to watch your tone, and I can call you whatever I want.”
“You can go to hell while you are at it.”

Underlined: Speaking of tears, she's probably been crying much earlier than this. But! This is a great opportunity to mention the sting on her face? Or some other signs of pain. Make it more dramatic.

“That’s it.” That was the first time I saw the room I would be staying in. Up two flights of stairs and into the attic, I didn’t know what he was going to do to me. He pushed me so hard, [<--comma] I slammed against the bed and fell. That was the first time I had ever felt mental pain mentally.
But, [no comma] that night, I just looked out the window, hoping someone would find me, or even see me, but it never happened.

Underlined: You used the "till" spelling in chapter 1. I prefer the " 'til" spelling, but whichever you choose, be consistent. Choose one and use it forever throughout the novel.

Italicized: Isn't she in a strange house? Why would her journal be in a stranger's house?
I make my own policies.
