I like life. Life is good for all those things that I have to do, you know? Can't run around in town if you're dead, ya know?
---Nightshade

Life is life a beautiful flower, just opening up for spring. You always have a little bit further to go before you reach your full potential. Life is both complicated and simple, both long and very short. I am content to know that tomorrow may see my death, and I will use my days to the fullest until the endless sleep takes me.

Weapons. Magic sort of... scares me. Y'know, the unexpected and all that. I guess it'sd nifty if yu have it but. Whatever. --- Evan

Magic. Do you know how cool that would be? Like. With one snap of your fingers, you can do whatever you want. That would totally be a blast. --- Anna

My mother named me Nightshade because she wanted me to grow up loving plants and nature. I don't think she knows the meaning of Nightshade; it's a poisonous plant, eh? I like to think of my name being my mother's way of not minding my "questionable activities". I should care, being a princess's daughter, but...I don't.
---Nightshade

I was named Safrany for the same reasons that my sister Nightshade was; out of my mother's frantic desire to have a daughter who was simple and sweet and in some ways like a rose. Nightshade is not, well, what you'd call perfect. I try to be, to make Mother happy.
---Safrany

The talented sort they play at the gatherings. Violins and cellos and perhaps a flute, blended together beautifully. My sister, that little sneak, prefers the drunken tunes they play at the town taverns. I'm sure she engages in all sorts of impropriety; I'll bet she's even kissed a man! She disgusts me.
---Safrany

Safrany sings to me sometimes before bed. She sings pretty.
