You are science.
You are biology,
Chemistry,
And the link between the two.

Your heart is space,
Astrology and Astronomy,
And everything in between.

But you are going to die.

When you die, Astrology and Astronomy die.
Chemistry dies,
And along with it,
Biology.

It will happen slowly.
Barometric pressure will change,
And a black hole will form,
Somehow.
Somewhere.

The tumor grows now.
It breaks off, and wanders.
Anywhere on earth,
Adaptive radiation occurs,
And you change along with the earth.
Outside our solar system,
One celestial body
Crashes with another
And both are forever changed.

Your DNA splits apart,
Struggling to replicate.
Speciation happens,
And two species diverge.

You are Sociology, and
Psychology with it.

Two souls drift apart.
One, this way,
The other, that way.

But what does this matter?
The pain is ripping you apart as you ponder
What will live on
As you die?

Because just as the light
Of the stars hit us a million years late,
Reality has caught up with you.

You start to sweat.
The rain forests beg out to be saved.
And the whole of the troposphere dies a little.

Who will be the one to save them?

A star dies.

Who will be, after you are not?

The nebula forms in it's place.

You are going to die.
But what you don't know,
Is that
You are already dead.

This is an amazing poem. It is the first poem I've read on here and liked, because I finally figured out how too. It is definitely a great poem. I love everything about this poem. You're a specular author.

My interpretation:
Spoiler
So, you are saying that science is lost of purpose and pointless? I am just as useless? I indeed over-think, and poetry is not my thing.

This might belong in Dramatic Poetry, as it is told by you, with "you statements" to me. The only thing, Astronomy and Astrology don't really have a between, as they are completely separate, one is the study of planets, and the other is how they effect us. The only between could be religion, how they are. And that is thinking on a fourth demention, not a traditional axis(if that makes sense).

I liked it, and if you're calling me the link between biology and chemistry, what am I? AP Bio? I did not however really get the rainforest part. Also, the "already dead" thing is a bit overdone, because it is "underdone."

I was confused when I read this~i like cocked my head to the side and tried to figure out what 'you' was.
I'm still not sure. I kind of think it's a person but then I can't be sure as we're not told.
I think that could be your main improvement point. It's just a fantastic poem that if you ended it with something like,
Jamie is dead. Or something. I think it we knew what 'was' as I said, it could mean a whole lot more.

Overall I think this poem was great. It a real deep sense of...science. :)
It's the only word I could use. It was meaningful but confusing as none of us (or maybe just me :D) knows what's going or what's keeping all the science together.
I enjoyed reading this and congrats on getting featured.

Well done!

Haha thanks, I don't really see my self explaining it further because part of why I really am proud of this piece is the sense of mystery.

Also, I had NO IDEA I had been featured, so when I went back and saw, I was pleasantly surprised! Thank you for your kind words!

I thought this was great, especially as I've been thinking of writing a science poem for a while now and haven't done it yet. Two things that bugged me, though:

First, in this stanza -

The tumor grows now.
It breaks off, and wanders.
Anywhere on earth,
Adaptive radiation occurs,
And you change along with the earth.
Outside our solar system,
One celestial body
Crashes with another
And both are forever changed.

- it bugs me that you say "anywhere on earth" and then two lines later end a line with "earth" again. It's almost like in a rhyming poem when someone uses the same word twice rather than something that's actually not a rhyme, you know what I mean? I know this isn't a rhyming poem, but to hear the same word twice in three lines - at the end of both lines in which it appears - just kind of bothers me. Also there's this:

Your DNA splits apart,
Struggling to replicate.
Speciation happens,
And two species diverge.

As you obviously know, speciation IS when two species diverge - or, more clearly, when one population splits into two species - so to say "speciation happens" AND "and two species diverge" is redundant. Which probably will only bug people like me, who know what speciation is - obviously if you don't know, you find this redundant - but if you can figure out just one way to satisfy your meaning, that would be great.

Otherwise, like I said, this was a wonderful poem and I enjoyed it a lot. :)

Haha, those are two problems I noticed myself too, but I really didn't even try to fix them, because I liked it just the way it was.

Thank you for your kind words!

This is really cool! I haven't seen anything like it before I don't think!!!

The tumor grows now.
It breaks off, and wanders.
Anywhere on earth,
Adaptive radiation occurs,
And you change along with the earth.
Outside our solar system,
One celestial body
Crashes with another
And both are forever changed.

I liked this paragraph. It is nice and concise, but manages to poetically portray the point. I agree with the other reviewers that the poem could be more concise. Especially the beginning. The first four paragraphs could probably be condensed to two.

I really like the ending. It makes the reader stop and think, and maybe reread the poem. Nice job on this!

'sup bro
I'm not the biggest fan of science, but that didn't stop me from appreciating your poem. It's been said before, and I second the notion: This might go better in Dramatic Poetry. I see why you put it here, though.
The poem itself was well written, to say the least. It had a certain flow that must have taken diligent work to refine, and I'm glad you take writing seriously.

Haha thanks!

To be honest, and this is to all of you out there, I do not think I wrote this poem as well as I really could have. There are several cliches and it really just looked better in my head. I'm glad so many have enjoyed it, though!

This is pretty amazing, in my book. I've read it quite a few times and I still can't really think of anything to say. Though, yes, it could be written better... I couldn't be the one to tell you that, seeing as I'm not one to write about science very often, so... it would be mighty difficult trying to edit this. :P Your thoughts flow together so fluidly and the ending is absolutely brilliant. "You are going to die. But what you don't know, is that you are already dead." I so wish I had your mind right now, and the ability to relate the ideas of science to poetry. This poem is awesome. Keep it up!

Thank you very much! I think there are some really cheesy areas that I want to edit, but I think that won't be any time soon.
