Sailing the Seven Seas 2 - Starting/Accepting

Dear Dragon,

This SB will be whatever we make it be. In the last story the female characters pretended to be male or had what were perfectly acceptable female positions in those days, while the origional captain was female also. There have been many female pirates through the ages, and we're not writing a referance book about pirates, we are having fun and playing around with characters our fellow users have elected. We are also going to assume that the extra crew not mentioned here are male, while no more female characters can join as of now.

Our characters are travelling to the real and working Fountain of Youth with an immortal. I don't think we're going to be too historically correct here

Just out of curiosity, how will Beatrix manage to replace Clare...?

We're going to pretend that Bellatrix was Clare all along, but none of the Turtle stuff happened. The crew will be oblivious that there's been any change.

Is there a central goal that we're working towards here?
(To find the F.O.Y. of course. But once we get there, will it be a flop? Will it have unintended consequences? Or will it heal the guy and bam, eend of story.)

We'll get there when we get there! The best ideas pop into our heads, or at least mine, untrying. Isha and I randomly decided one day in chat that Jex's ex-captain would be Clare's brother, then went to Mizzle about it, who was the maker of the SB the first time around.

Well, it's in the Bremuda Triangle, and then I suspect there will be trouble with some crew members getting over zealous with their new powers once they drink. They, of course, will be able to die (because they're already adults when drinking) but so will the rest of the crew...

By the way, Dragon, Quinn is the captain's apprentice, not the co-captain's apprentice, and has been in that role since the first 7c's, so.

The creaky dock out to The Calypso had a line of hopefulls trying out for positions in the crew. Eager young people, gruff old people and the occasional woman dressed in revealing clothes who gained many glares from the female pirates.
Turtle sat on a chair and wrote on a barrel. He could write only a little, but he'd been elected to recruit the new people. The captain was tired in her quaters, as usual, and they were hiring a new co-captain so Turtle was the only person old enough and trained enough for the job. Which made him uneasy.
The rest of the crew were lazing about behind him or sleeping in the shade made by their pile of supplies not yet loaded onto the ship.
"So where are we goin', lad?" asked a seasoned pirate.
"To the Americas," Turtle replied. "Why do you want to join the crew?"
"I wanna get out one more time before I'm done."
"What position do you have experiance with?"
"Eh?"
"What position do you have experiance with!" Turtle repeated, but he thought it was a lost cause. This mas was simply too old.
"I waza gun'mn."
Turtle hid his relief.
"We already have enough of them. We wearn't asking for more gunmen."
"I can stillbea cook, laddie..."
Turtle smiled what he tried to make out as apologetically, and the pirate let out a muffled roar and knocked over the barrel before lumbering away.
"Next?"

"Who r' you?" Someone asked.

"Skye." I said, putting out my hand. He glanced at it with distaste. I slowly lowered it. "Ok then."

"Why did you want to join the crew?"

"Want a new adventure to set foot on. A fresh on. When I hear you were hiring, I jumped on it!"

"Hm." He mumbled. I shrugged, walking off.

The ship seemed to be a mad house. No, I was being sarcastic. Everyone lazed around, knowing they might have a job and not caring.I wonder if there is beer here, or rum? Never been that fond of rum-

"Hello?" another asked, this one was a boy, small, with no more then 17.

"Hello young lad." She replied. "Who are you apprenticing for?"

"You, I think. Are you the medicine woman?" He asked. My heart lifted; seems he was good enough of a boy.

"It so happens I am! What's you're name?"

"Josiah, Josiah Barnes."

"I'm Skye." I replied. "Now, are you allergic to anything? Animals? Penicillin?"
