Vote For Someone
I’m told its the elections
But for what?
I’m told it’s the Government.
But what's the big deal?
I’m told I have to vote.
But for who?
Someone, I’m told.
So vote for someone,
I get the idea now.
My friends agree;
“Let’s vote for someone!”
Everyone is voting;
For him – That guy – the
Mp – The politician – the
One with the glasses – the
Beard – the fat one –
Skinny one.
We form “Factions” – groups –
To vote, we argue and
Bribe – “Join us or we’ll
Avoid you – Bully you.”
I’m voting for someone,
But I won’t tell.
It’s time to vote.
Sally goes first;
“That guy”
Paul is next;
“The fat dude”
Tom, “The old guy”
Finally, it’s my turn;
“Someone”
This poem was written by me when I realised that I didn't know most of the government figures' names when it came to the elections. I was also talking recently with a friend, and we both couldn't come up with the Current Prime Minister's name. In England, several kids don't even know who their local mp is, let alone who is in the cabinet. So this poem was written for awareness of the young generation. Please comment
