Mirror, mirror
On the wall
Who will be the first
To fall?
My brother has fallen
Through glass
Fallen in love
How long
Will it last?
How long will it take
For the reflection
To crack?
For him to find out
What's happening
Behind his back?
I will have to betray him
But it's for
His own good
Why cant I?
But I can, because
I know I should
I'll protect him
But to betray and break
Our brotherly bond?
I'll have to for his own good
Of that girl
He should not be fond

Welcome to YWS!

I was looking for a nice poem and I think I've found it. It tells a story well. It's simple, but that's a good thing.

The one thing I take issue with is the notion that he is betraying his brother. If the girl is no good for his brother, then he isn't betraying him, but protecting him. I think the narrator wouldn't worry about breaking the brotherly bond; instead he would be trying to figure out how to break the news to his brother.

Overall, I think it is a very well put together poem.

Griffin, you beat me to the cut! Curses, I can only echo your words now. *Echoes Griffin's Words*
And to add: While I understand it's very poetic and helps the rhyme, what was the symbolism of the mirror? Sorry, symbolism is not my strong point. I like the style of talking to the mirror, however.

I will have to betray him
But it's for
His own good
Why cant I?
But I can, because
I know I should
I'll protect him
But to betray and break

This jumbled me up a bit. Too many buts (Even thoguht there are two, I mean too many contradictions).

Otherwise... *LIKES*
Thanks for the great read,

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities.
