How am I supposed to dream,
when like a bug I hide in the corner,
as I've only ever learned to play safe?
How am I supposed open my eyes,
when like a machine I never open up,
as blackness is so much safer?
How am I supposed to let myself breathe,
when like a corpse I never inhale,
as the air is so toxic?
How am I supposed to sit here and smile,
when like raindrops I give but never receive,
as people are so prejudiced.
How are you supposed to cry
when like a soldier you know they will strike again,
as life always goes on?
How are you supposed to know,
when like child you are never told,
as your innocence shines through your eyes?
How are you supposed to sleep,
when like reality it hurts,
as the wound is too deep?
How are you supposed to help another,
when like a wise old man you know their hurdles are so minute,
as yours tower over them?
How are we supposed to cry for help,
when like a plane crashing it is already to late,
as the first blow ended all hope?
How are we supposed to go on,
when like an immense fire everything will continue to agonise,
as we are being targeted from every angle.
Just tell us,
for our faith is still alive,
for we deny giving up,
for our pain feeds our fortitude...
Just tell us;
how are we supposed to?
when like a bug I hide in the corner,
as I've only ever learned to play safe?
How am I supposed open my eyes,
when like a machine I never open up,
as blackness is so much safer?
How am I supposed to let myself breathe,
