It felt wierd... seeing my parents standing in front of me, after all that time. What had been days felt like centuries. I was happy to see them, yet upset that my adventure with Alexander has ended.
My mom's arms were thrown around me, immediatly. "I thought we lost you! I thought you were kidnapped and I would never see you again!" I could smell my mom's strawberry perfume that was hidden through her thick, brown, long hair. I couldn't find the words to say yet. It all felt fake... a dream. I had my mother back.
"Mom," I managed to say. I heard her voice but I wasn't sure whet she was saying. Her touch felt warm, despite her frost bitten hands.
Then my dad was here and he was hugging me too. My parents stood back and looked me over.
"What happened? You weren't there anymore and we didn't know where to look," my dad said.
"I will explain everything in a moment but first," I pointed to Alexander, "This is my boyfriend, Alexander." My dad took a protective stance. I knew this would happen but he wanted to meet them.
"Ok, well first come inside, both of you and warm up. You look freezing," My mom said.
I stepped into the warm house that my parents rented for vacation. "Where is everybody?" I asked. My other siblings were not around. I remembered the usual mess this place is every year when we come. My mom would always try, unsuccesfully, to tame her nine children. I smiled at the thought.
"Everyone is home, in Pennsylvania. Where you should be. We stayed behind in case you were to show up and," she gestured to me with tears in her blue eyes,"here you are." I smiled.
"So what happened?" my dad said.
"I don't really remember too well. I remember waking on the floor and everyone was gone. The party was over. So I started walking, I don't know this area but I kept walking anyway. Then Alexander found me and helped me."
My mom's eyes were on Alexander now. "Kayla? Can I talk to you outside for a minute?" my mom said.
I nodded. I looked into Alexander's electric blue eyes once more before, reluctantly, following my mom into the snow covered front yard.
"Yeah, mom," I said when she shut the door.
"Sweetie, I'm worried about you." She gently rubbed my cheek with her thumb. " I am going to ask you a question and I want you to tell me the complete truth, ok?"
I braced myself. I knew that Alexander would hear all of what we were saying. I nodded.
"Did he...do... anything to you?" She asked. Her concern filled eyes were creeping up on me.
"No, mom. He gave me my own room and kept me warm and fed. He only helped me, nothing else."
My mom was staring into my eyes, looking for answers, that i hoped I wasn't giving away. "Ok," she finally gave up, "but you know what this means. The helicopter, your dad is calling right now, they are coming to pick us up at 11:30 in the field. If you really like him then you are going to have to work through a long distance relationship. We were really supposed to be home by new years, but seeing as we are hours away from home, I'm positive we will not be able to make it."
"Mom, I want to stay here. I could stay with aunt Debbie. I will come home and visit every once in a while and-"
"No... No, I am not losing my baby again. You are coming home with me and your father. Did he pressure you into this?" she said cutting me off.
"No, he wanted me to return to my normal life in Pennsylvania. Everything will be boring if I come back home and I will see you again. Plus th-"
"No! Why are these temporary romances breaking our family apart! That is why your Aunt Debbie stayed here too and now she is old and alone! You are not going to be like your Aunt Debbie!" She was yelling now.
"Mom, please-" I tried.
"No! You will jump out of a plane before I let you stay here for a boy you met days ago! That is final. Can you really be that serious about this guy? Nevermind, don't answer that. I don't want to know. You are coming home with us, clear?" she kept going but I didnt have the heart to listen to anymore of her rambling thoughts.
"Ok, ok. I'll go back to my boring life in Pennsylvania if that's what you want!" I finally said.
My mom straightened her clothes and smiled. She loved the thought of her winning against me. I was mad but I still had to remember, she was only trying to look out for me. "Then let's go inside and thank your hero for saving my baby girl."
When we walked inside my dad and Alexander stood in silence. My mom grabbed my dad's hand and dragged him out. "Five minutes," she said before leaving the house.
Alexander walked to me and took my hand in both of his. I could fell his warm, bare hands through my thick mittens. "So... what time are you leaving?" he said. His voice was so comfortable in a wierd way. He made me feel so safe. I didn't want to leave his side.
I looked up into his brilliant blue eyes again and put on my best fake smile I had in store. "Like you didn't hear every word."
He smiled. "We have about an hour," he said.
I shook my head, looking down. "This is the crapiest New Year's ever."
He pulled me in for a hug. I buried my head into his chest. "Your mom is right though. We could make this long distance thing work."
"But I don't want to. I don't want to live without you," Back to reality. "Will you come to the field with me? Wave goodbye when the time comes?" I said.
"Absolutely. I will meet you there." He pulled out of the hug. His black hair was laying across his forhead. A tear escaped from my eyes. One of his hands was freed to be placed on my cheek and catch the tear. I allowed his warmth to spread through me. "Just remember, I love you," he said.
"I love you, too, Alexander."
"Time's up!" my mom yelled from outside.
Alexander pressed his lips against my forhead. "Goodbye," he said.
"Bye."

* * *

Waiting in the field, I exchanged my glances from Alexander to the time that read 11:48. I was spending my last moments with Alexander silently, in his arms.
The helicopter landed in the field at 11:53. I didn't say bye to Alexander. That was done back in the house.
As I climbed into the helicopter, I replaid my conversation with Alexander in my head. -We have about an hour-
Take off- 11:56.
-Crappiest New Year's ever-
Getting farther and farther off the ground.
-We could make this long distance thing work-
About 300 feet in the air. Alexander is invisible- 11:58
-I don't want to live without you-
-I don't want to live without you-
I don't want to live without Alexander. Which means I won't!
I was thinking so clearly. I knew I was going to die but I did it anyway. I jumped out of the helicopter with my parents screaming after me. The wind pounded me with fists all over my body bringing me closer to death. Adrenalin rushed through my body. I was feeling dizzy in the air, to the point where I closed my eyes and waited for death to come.
The air stopped hitting me. This is it, I died.
I opened my eyes. Blue... Blue eyes. I can see blue eyes. I am in somebodys arms. I didn't die. I am not dead. Alexander... I am in Alexander's arms staring into Alexander's eyes.
"Are you crazy!?" he was saying. "You could have died! Why would you do that?! Give me one reason why anyone would jump out of a helicopter without a parachute!"
I felt light headed. I smiled dizzely, playing with Alexander's hair and touching his face to make sure he was really here. "-Just remember, I love you-" I said, repeating his words.
He smiled, he knew what I was talking about. He took a deep breath.
The large clock in the field rung. It's midnight.
"Happy New Years," Alexander said, leaning into me.
He pressed his lips to mine for the first time. My hands found it's way behind his neck where they rested. He slowly put me back on my feet while he still held his lips to mine. His arms were around me, pressing my body to his.
When he pulled away, I replied, still dizzy and out of breath, "Wow, happy New Years." I smiled.
I noticed the crowd around us for the first time. People were cheering and clapping. There were news reporters everywhere. Children jumping, parents attempting to control there kids. It was caotic and somehow in the middle of all the commotion, Alexander's lips found mine once more.

Hello,

Is this part two or three to something?

This was strange. You threw the reader in at the deep end and it worked quite well. It was very emotion packed I will give you that, which picked up the lack of description. I was completely confused through out this which made when she jumped out of the helicopter a pleasant surprise as it sort of made things a bit clearer so well done. As I was so confused I has to keep reading for some clarity, which didn't really come but it worked as an effective hook so well done there as well.

My problem in it is that your mother in the story called it a summer romance, but it is at new years which is winter. The consistency kind fell flat there.

Good piece, keep writing.

PM me for anything.

Okay, first off, I didn't see the words 'summer romance' there at all. If I missed it, then I would assume you are from the southern hemisphere and just forgot it was different up north.

The beginning is quite odd, alluding to a grand adventure before this- have you written that? I would be interested to see it if you had, for it would give the opportunity for the romance to strike more true.

I like your style, you have a relaxed kind of flow that is easy to read, and doesn't encourage skipping and isn't unneccessarily complicated, which I enjoy, so I like that. The characters themselves are a little flat, but only so much depth can be shown in a short piece such as this, so again I am interested to see if there is something other to this story that I could read, and get a feeling for the characters.

One thing that confused me is the line "we have about an hour" when her mother clearly said "five minutes." What did you mean? Also, your mother mentions 'jumping from the plane' when they are taking the helicopter.

Also, in the helicopter, because you have already gone through the conversation once, you don't need to retell it over again. You could just repeat the last line, and show her having the same thoughts and drawing the same conclusions. The next thing that bothered me about this scene is that if she managed to get the helicopter doors open and jump out, then jump from a hieght that would kill her, straight down with nothing to slow her down, then she would crush alex's arms. And if Alex is some kind of superrace, then his arms would crush her. Not sure how you will get around this one.

Overall you have an interesting story if an overeactive main character, and only hints of the background on both sides. The things I have concluded is their family is both large and rich, from the nine children and the helicopter, which makes me wonder what it is their parents do, a suspicion that Alex isn't human, from his ability to catch her, and further wonder what would happen next. If you haven't already, you should expand on what happened between her and alex, through a flashback, a prequel or maybe even just have her recount the story. And I would love to see more detail, it is very much like we have opened a book to the middle, you seem to assume we know everything that you do about the two characters. Give us some background, some depth. It could be a great story.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me.

Hey,

I liked this. As Retro said, you pushed us into the end and somehow it worked. I know you've written way more than this and I think that you should put that up too. This doesn't need much help, just grammar and spelling which I'm too lazy to do right now. Some problems:

Unless this guy is a vampire which I'm pretty sure he is, there is no way he would have caught your MC when he was already yards away and didn't fall to the ground and break his neck from her weight.

Maybe it's just me but Alexander seems very Mary Sue here. Maybe it's because we just met him and barely know anything him but you shouldn't make him seem so perfect

That's all I got for right now. See ya.
