Chapter 3
July didn’t go to the party because she thought that I was kidding. She thought that I was gonna surprise her by bringing the senior’s here. Why did she think that? I don’t know and I really don’t care either.
She has David.
I don’t have him or anyone.
Of course I am mad at her for being stupid.
For having the guy I wanted.

“Hello…? Are you out of Lily world?” July asks me.
Yes, I am still here. I’m watching July flirt with David. That’s all she does.
“Yup, I think I’m gonna head home.” I get off her bed and head toward her door.

It smells like roses in her room. David got them on the way here. The moon made the room a bit brighter. She lighted up some candles for the romantic feel even though I’m here.
“No,” she pulls my arm.
Her green eyes are still bright even though there is barely any light here.

“I’m pooped from the party,” I look at David and notice him staring at me.
My stomach turns for just a second and I go back to July.
“Fine, see you later,” she lets me go and I run out the door.
***
What a beautiful morning. The sun is shining and there are no clouds in sight.
I’m sitting on the balcony surfing through the web on my laptop. I get on Facebook and spot David’s name in the Suggested Friendsarea. I don’t know his last name but the picture shows his face, so I add him.
I wait for a while hoping that he will accept me right now. If he were on Facebook right now than probably he would.
After waiting a couple of minutes, I decide to turn it off. I got one update after a couple of minutes.
David Folly accepted your friend request.

My heart skips a beat and then I just decide to forget about it. It will never happen. He bought July roses yesterday, they were red roses. She loves them. I think that they will be together for a while and he will just forget that I ever existed.
I smell fresh cut grass and spot my dad mowing the lawn.
Bleep my computer goes. I still didn’t log off Facebook.
It’s from David.

Hey Lily

Just that simple huh, I guess I was right. Nothing is ever gonna come from this.
Hey, wat r u doin?
I still type back. I’m not gonna log off making him think that I logged off because of him.
Nothin. I’m at July’s, it’s so boring.
So, he talks to me when he’s bored-nice.
Wat is she doing? Blabbing about her newest fashion trend?
Haha, Ur funny. No, she wants me to go with her to some ball.
Ball????
Yup a ball. I don’t know how 2 get out of it.

I change the song on my iPod to Ozzy Osbourne. My puppy runs out onto the balcony and starts barking to the neighboring dogs.

U don’t wanna go w/ her?
No, I’d rather do something w/ u.

So now I’m the backup plan?! Or does he wanna really hang out with me?
My heart skips a beat faster and I feel like I’ve actually got him and I didn’t even do anything.
Really?
U seem more interesting than July’s fashion breakdowns :)

Maybe this may be something. Am I crazy or something!?

Well u can come over to my place and lie 2 July about something.
Seriously?

Why not, I can have him as a friend, can’t I? Even though I like him, it doesn’t mean I cant spend time with him like a
friend- and I have to repay him from the time he saved me from the fatty with sex issues.

Why not.
Gr8, so I guess I’ll c u.
When r u gonna come?
Um 7.
Ok bye.
Bye.

He logged off. I turn off my computer.
He’s coming to me. He is bored with July and wants to spend time with me. Even though I thought that I was the backup plan I changed my mind. I really think he likes to hang out with me more than his own girlfriend. Maybe he changed his mind from yesterday. We talked on the way to July's house from Josh's party.
We were talking about everything. There were many jokes in the conversation and games. He’s so amazing. David understands me. This is the first time I ever met a guy that understands me. He’s so funny.
***
I’m waiting for David. It’s 6:58pm and I just want him to be here right now. I got on my favorite outfit and the radio on. Ke$ha has taken over my radio with “Kiss & Tell”. All I can think about is the song and the smell of the buttered popcorn that I’ve made.
I’m sitting on the leather brown couch staring on the grandfather clock. It goes Tik-Tock every second making me even more impatient than before.

My door rings and I get off the couch. I look at the mirror that’s right next to the door.
I open the door and spot David. My stomach starts flipping and I smile. He has brought some board games.

“Hey,” he says.
“Hey, come in.” I let him in and shut the door.

He takes off his shoes and follows me outside to my backyard. I can see that he fixed his hair up a little, from the messy kind of look to the nice cut look.
“Nice backyard,” he says.
“Thanks,”

We sit on the wooden patio laying out the Monopoly board.
I grab the popcorn and put it on the ground next to us. I turn up the volume on the radio.

“Ready to have one heck of a time?” he asks.
It still shocks me that he came to me.
“I’ve been ready.” I say matter-of-factly.
“Great,”
We start to play the game of Monopoly without July in sight. Now that is a dream come true.
***
“Ah, thank God,” I say as I slide my piece pass the go sign.
“What, you were afraid to get bankrupted in Times Square?” he laughs.
“Like, duh,”
He moves his laptop piece down the board from jail to South Beach.
“Pay up,” I hand him the credit card machine.
“Fine,” he acts mad.
“It’s only two million,” I mock him.
He grabs my card and I laugh.
“Two million is a lot these days mam,”
“Uhuh,” I mumble.

We continue playing for a couple of minutes until my home phone rings.
“I’ll get that,”
I get off the ground and run into the house- the caller i.d. says it’s July. Why would she calling, isin’t she at that ball thing? I answer it.
“Hello…?”
“Have you seen David?” she asks in a worried tone.
“No, why?” I lie.
“He said he would be at guitar lessons but there are none in the summer,”
I walk into the kitchen and grab two cokes.
“He lied to you?” I act shocked.
“Yeah,”
She hangs up and I leave the phone in the kitchen.
“Awkward,” I say to myself.

I walk onto the patio and see David texting on his phone.
Once I sit down in front of him, he hides his phone into his pocket.

“Was that July?” I ask.
“Yup,” he says in a worried tone.
“What did she want?” I start to put the Monopoly game away.
David helps out with the board.
“She found out that there were no guitar lessons in the summer,”
“Well, she did just call and say that. I didn’t tell her you were here though,” I put the board game on the brown glass table.
He gets up off the ground and walks inside the house with me.
“Good, that’s the last thing I need. She would break up with me right away.”

That’s not so bad.
We are in my living room sitting on the couches. The sun is going down which makes the red living room seem blood red. The TV is off but I stare at its flat screen anyway. My feet are on the soft white fur rug, feeling all the softness of it.

“David,” I ask.
“What?” he looks at me as if he’s listening.
I shift in my spot on the couch.
“Do you really like July? Like really like her?” I say this fast so he wouldn’t get the chance to interfere.

He just stares at me for a moment. It makes me feel like he’s hesitating a bit.
My heart beats faster as I wait for his answer. I can smell someone having a barbecue from the yard.

“Lily, the thing between me and July is, well, complicated.” He says this slowly.
“What do you mean by complicated?” my heart gets even faster.
“I mean that, she isn’t my type at all and obviously she doesn’t like me either,”
“Then why are you together?”
I slip my feet under my butt.

“Um,” he shifts around in his spot.
“When I first met her, she was different. She acted like you, not like herself- but I didn’t know that she wasn’t herself then. I got attracted to her because she was different. I thought that she wasn’t the kind to care about if she has Chanel clothes or not. She seemed a lot like you,” he explains looking straight into my eyes.

His eyes are so pretty. What am I thinking? No, Lily he is July’s boyfriend. But he did say he liked it when she acted like me… forget it.

“So she pretty much lied to you about herself,”
“Exactly,” he plays with his phone a bit.
“Why would she do that?” he adds.

I don’t know. Wait, it may be about her parents and her allowance. I remember one time she said “My parents are so lame, they cut my allowance!” “I have to do something so they can give it back,” that may be the case.

“I might know why, but I could be wrong,” I say.
“Well…?” he asks in wonder.
“She might have used you to make her parents give her allowance back,” I blurt.
“What?!” he sounds really mad.

“But I could be wrong,”
He gets up and paces back and forth through the living room.

“I thought that she was perfect- that she was the type of girl for me. She understood all the jokes I told her, she didn’t wear this girly-girl stuff that she wears now, she was so nice to all the animals, and she told me that she reads a lot of books.” He says a list of her lies.
“Huh, that’s funny- she stole me from me!” I laugh.

He stops his paces and looks at me. My stomach turns and I start to sweat a bit. There’s an awkward tension here.

“So, she acted like you to get me so her allowance could be back?”
“Possible,”
David sits down next to me again and starts to think. Now there is a better feeling in the room.
“Or she did it ‘cause she really likes you,” I try but that really can’t be possible.
“That really can’t be possible,” he reads my mind.
“Well, yeah. She likes a complete opposite of your type. She never ever even imagined dating your type; actually July wouldn’t even want to. How did you know?”
“Because at this party we went to she kissed a different guy that was completely opposite from me and she flirted with others that were like him- even at different occasions!”

I look at my phone and then put it back into my pocket. This is a crazy deal. Finally David knows the truth, well I hope it’s the truth because the thing that July did cannot even be possible.

“Now we know that she doesn’t like you,”
“And I don’t like her,” he finishes.
“Hm, we just gotta find out why and you know. You guys gotta break up.”
“Yup,”
We sit there for a couple of minutes just thinking. This is pretty odd in a sense. July is a complete mess and we all know that it’s just she doesn’t. Why would she use him? I mean, David is so nice and July just has to use it so she can have someone to help her get to her parents.

Hello there again (for the umpteenth time!) ;D

Nitpicks, nitpicks, nitpicks!

From the light of the moon her room is much darker.

Why would her room be dark if there's light from the moon?

But then my updates show that I have one update.

It's a tad too repetitive, I think --- try rewriting it.

Maybe he changed his mind from yesterday. We talked on the way to July’s house.

I know what it means, but when did David and Lily talk on the way to July's house?

It goes Tik-Tock every second making me even more inpatient than before.

Impatient, not inpatient.

“She might have used you to make her parents give her allowance back,” I blurt with worry.

You can't blurt with worry, you know? Can you try rewriting this sentence?

She never ever even imagined dating your type; actually July wouldn’t even want to.

This sentence doesn't really flow well; try cutting the extra "ever" out of it, into: she never even imagined dating your type.

I mean, David is so nice and July just has to use it.

Use what? Use David? Try to be more specific here. :D

Anyway, there aren't any problems with the plot, so I'll stop here. Remember to proofread stories before you post them!

Keep up the good work! :D

-Rosie =]
you'll never find another sweet little girl with sequined sea foam eyes
ocean lapping voice, smile coy as the brightest quiet span of sky
and you're all alone again tonight; not again, not again, not again.
and don't it feel alright, and don't it feel so nice? lovely.

It always seems impossible until it's done.
