Have you ever met someone that was so out of you league you couldn't even think of being with them? Well that's kind of where my story starts. Kassidy Jay Stewart was our schools homecoming queen, Junior class president, Top of the class, and Star forward on the school's basketball team. To top it all off she was a walking beauty with long, curly, brunette hair and baby blue eyes that shined when the light hit them. She was also the nicest person I've ever met. Kassidy was my next door neighbor, and best friend. My story begins with the start of summer after our Junior year...
"Hey Kass, what are you doing later?" I ask from my bedroom window. Our rooms were right across each other, and we often talked for hours with our heads sticking out our windows.
"I don't know, probably hanging out with Sean or something, why?" she asks with her usual cheeky grin. Now let me get this straight, I hated Sean. Sean was Kassidy's boyfriend, and the school's star quarterback. He was also very rude and arrogant towards everyone, especially Kassidy.
"Oh, I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out later?" I ask looking down at the ground sadly. She looked up at me and smiled.
"Sean won't be over for another hour or two, come on over." she smiles. I lift my head up quickly, hitting my head on the bottom of the window.
"Och! I'm on my way." I say closing my window and rubbing my head. That hurt. I think as I painfully rub my head.
"Later mom, I'm goin' to Kass'." I say rushing to the door. I hear her say OK, and run to Kass'. I knock on the door, and Kass quickly answers it with a big smile.
"Hey Kass." I say walking in the door. She quickly ushers me to her room, and closes the door behind her.
"Luke, I have to tell you something." she says quickly changing the tone in her voice as I sit down at her computer desk chair.
"What is it?" I quickly say as she sits down on her bed with her arms crossed uncomfortably.
"I'm scared to tell you, you swear you won't over react?" she says looking out the window quietly, and closing her curtains.
"I swear." I say moving beside her on her bed. She folds her arms in her lap and looks at the ceiling in her room.
"He hits me." she says rolling up her sleeve, revealing to large bruises on her arms the size of a large hand. My temper immediately kicks in, but I do my best to control it. I look at her and wipe away the tears she's crying.
"He won't anymore Kass, trust me." I say wrapping my arms around her tightly. She curls up in my lap as I call her parents up to her room. They immediately call the police and have them wait for Sean at her house. I take her over to mine, where I leave her with my twin sister, Lindsey. When Sean arrived, he immediately freaked out.
"Where's Kassidy?" he asks sharply as the cops wait inside to arrest him.
"That's none of your business you bastard." I say quietly punching him in the face. He stumbles backwards, and the cops come rushing out the door.
"Sean Blake your under arrest for assault on a minor and attempted rape." I hear the cops say. I don't hear the rest, I just rush back to my house and find Kass sitting on the couch with Lindsey.
"Kass." I say hugging her tightly as she buries her head in my chest and cries.
"Thank you Luke." she whispers as we hear the sirens fade away.
"Anything for you Kass." I say whipping away her tears. She smiles and kisses my cheek.

About a month later at the 4Th of July cook out that her parents hold every year, Kass receives great news that Sean is in a Detention Center and when he is release, on house arrest.
"That's great." I say hugging her after she tells us the good news. She looks at me strangely for a moment and smiles.
"I couldn't have done it without you." she says looking up at my with her big, blue eyes that made my knees feel like jello.
"Hey, that's what friends are for." I say nervously. She rubs my cheek tenderly as I feel her grip on me tighten.
"A normal friend wouldn't have gone through so much trouble." she says as her eyes lock contact with mine. I immediately feel helpless and weak.
"I'm a little different." I say. She smiles her usual cheeky grin and pulls me into a long, slow kiss. Her hands snake around my neck tightly as my arms wrap around her waist, just like a puzzle, we fit perfectly together. When we pull away, we hear the music slow down and we begin to dance.
Now a days, me and Kass are sharing more then just secrets. We share the same last name, and 3 kids named Charisma, Lyndon, and Bentley.
