A short story that I plan on making into a series. Basically written as if it were a literary comic, a long comic, but still, yeah. That same joke, after joke, style.
The Dawn Of The Series
Two girls sat in a room. One was known simply as Skyeler, and Morgrant. Skyeler was thirteen years old, she had orange hair that was quickly fading into blonde, it went slightly past her shoulders. Her skin was pale, slightly more then was healthy.
Morgrant was fourteen, and taller then her by at least an inch. She had brown hair of roughly the same length as Skyeler. Her face had quite a few freckles, they made an interesting contrast to her pale skin, and blue eyes.
The room itself was below the ground floor. In this room there was a cluttered desk, and a brown couch. Skyeler was sitting at the desk, her gaze focused on a computer screen, her fingers hammered away at the keys of her black keyboard. She was writing in a program called “Open Office.org Writer”. Morgrant looked over her shoulder and read it.
“Introduction: This series is basically like a comic, but in literary form. It will have some slightly dramatic moments, but for the most part it'll be about normal life. The same two characters will be in each one, Skyeler and Morgrant. This does not mean there will be several others throughout it. However it will be mainly about them. These are going to be fairly short, just because making it long would defy the purpose.”
“Skyeler, really?” She turned to Morgrant and raised a brow. “Really what?” She made herself appear innocent of anything that someone would blame her for despite there being dark circles around her eyes making her appear slightly sinister. Morgrant held up her fingers and made air quotes, “slightly dramatic?” Skyeler nodded. “Yeah. So?” Morgrant laughed, this laugh sounded like what could only be described as a banshee on crack. “You know no such word as slightly.” Skyeler crossed her arms and scowled. “How could you say such a horrible thing about me? I thought you were my friend.”This statement was followed by a long, awkward pause.
A second later they both started laughing. “Yeah, well I don't want to be expecting all my random outbursts.” The two of them stopped laughing and tensed, both of them examined the walls for someone watching them. “I just got the eerie feeling of foreshadowing.” Morgrant shuddered, “me too.” They both shook frantically, both saying “Uuuuuggggggghhhh” while they did so.
A moment later Skyeler stopped, Morgrant continued doing this. “I think that the foreshadowing is off of us now.” Morgrant stopped and let out a sigh of relief. “Thank god, I was worried there for a second.” She paused. “What should the first one of the series be?” Skyeler grinned, almost as if she were waiting for that question. “Well, I was thinking it should be about us trying to figure out what the first one should be about, and write it, making it sort of a story, about writing a story.” Morgrant giggled, this wasn't nearly as bad as her laugh, but you could tell that the banshee was getting ready to snort some crack.
That's when it happened. For a second her writers block stirred and cleared, she typed up a scene about Morgrant being pissed about Skyeler putting it on a website. Naturally, Morgrant leaned over to look at what Skyeler had just written.
“What do you mean you're putting this on YWS (Young Writers Society, a website for young writers)?! That'll ruin my reputation of being me!” Skyeler rolled her eyes, “they already know you're my best friend, and I don't like you talking to people, I don't think this could ruin your reputation more then I already have.”
Morgrant relaxed, “oh yeah. Sorry, I forgot. Unlike you I care what people think about me.” Skyeler got off of the bar stool she was sitting on and lifted it up over her head in a threatening way. “I DO TOO!” She paused. “It's just I want people to see me as the kind of person that they don't want to be around.” Morgrant stared at her wide eyed. “Yes, I was just messing with you, now put the stool down.” She hand her hands up in front of her face, ready to lessen the blow of an attack from Skyeler. If she knew one thing about Skyeler, it was that she didn't fight fair, and breaking the nose was high on her list of tricks.
Both of them shuddered, and Skyeler put the stool down. “Did you just think something that'll get used in three adventures or something when we think they've forgotten about it? I got that creepy foreshadowing thing again.” Morgrant frowned, sighed, lowered her head, and nodded. “Yeah, I knew it was the only way short of giving you gummy bears to get you to put the stool down.” Once again the two of them shuddered. “Stop doing that! It's annoying and it ruins my pulling out things unexpected!” Morgrant sighed once more. “Okay.”
Skyeler smirked evily, she'll never know that I found her PINK shoes. The two of them shuddered violently, however Skyeler kept her sinister smirk. “Now you're doing that on purpose aren't you?” Skyeler nodded, “yeah, but it helps to plan all the evil things I'm going to do to you. When you think about it all life is pretty much is foreshadowing, you're just not paying attention.” Morgrant shuddered again. “Well let's try to avoid it, this thing is really creeping me out. I can't control when I shudder.”
The two of them screamed as they both fell on the floor from violently shuddering, at this point it hurt to shudder. “Oh god! Thanks! Thanks a lot! KNAVE!”
After a minute they both got up, thankfully for them the house was empty, and all the doors and windows were shut and locked tightly. No one was there to hear them scream. As far as you know, Skyeler doesn't scream. The two of them fell down, screaming and shuddering again.
Finally it ended. The both of them had run out of foreshadowing thoughts and they could continue whatever it was they were doing. “Um... Morgrant,” she stood up, “what were we doing before all the foreshadowing?”
Morgrant stared at her blankly. “Oh shit. I don't remember.” Both of them turned to the screen in hopes of the answers. Morgrant gasped, “you have my shoes! Evil!” Skyeler rolled her eyes. How did I manage to keep my hands on the keyboard and type down everything that just happened while screaming? It's not possible I say, NOT POSSIBLE! Her scowl made it clear she had done something she wished she had hidden better. Morgrant smirked. “Hah! And you give me such a hard time about not being a good 'ebil' person.”
Skyeler crossed her arms. “Yeah, I do. Typing down everything that just happened is just one of my many skills that you don't know about.” She lied, but she was good at it when she tried. When it was something small she could either hold a straight face, or hide her lie behind sarcasm.
A second later both of them were grasped by a horrible boredom. “Want to have a foreshadowing battle? The more it foreshadows the worse the shuddering?” Skyeler grinned. “You're on, and going down.”
Needless to say that in sheer moments both of them had ruptured several internal organs from shuddering so much. Soon enough their organs flat out exploded, coating the walls in a thin layer of blood. No one was due back in the house for another hour, and Skeyler's cell phone was dead. Needless to say both of them died right there and then.
