I am the essence of darkness,
but also of light.
I am the giver of life,
and the destroyer of worlds.
I know love and hate,
remorse and disdain.
I am human,
but more,
and less than every man.
I am everywhere,
and nowhere.

I see what we have become.
What I have become as a result
of my own greed,
of my own lust.

Turned from a young man to a monster
then cursed to dwell here.

This world was not built for the innocent.
The light I knew when I was young,
hopeful, and nothing tempted me
has gone.

But still, even though I am broken by
my choices,
decision so vile I cannot speak of,
I hope that one day someone
or something will take me from this world
and lift me into his arms
into the light that seeps through the boards from
above this basement
this dungeon.

One day soon I will either destroy
or save this world.
The decision is no longer mine,
but theirs.
My people.

The sleeping giant waits,
the hungry mastodon lurks.
The true beast is ready to be unleashed
on its master or its liberator.

I know this is not my best poem but I wrote this when people were doing construction around my house and I could not think. I still cannot think correctly because they are still there hammering away so please be courteous with the reviews and keep in mind if you hate it I wrote this while distracted. Thanks to anyone who reads thid poem.

I actually quite like it.
I am the essence of darkness,
but also of light.
I am the giver of life,
and the destroyer of worlds.
I know love and hate,
remorse and disdain.
I am human,
but more,
and less than every man.
I am everywhere,
and nowhere.

I think this is a really good opening and if you were to expand on it could become a really good piece.

It also has a very effective ending.
If this is what you write like when people are doing construction, i bet you are a master when they are not.
Well done.

A fine job on this piece you say that this was not your best poem well I want to see whats better!
I have to ask who is this person you describe is it God? A single man who has the power to change the world? Or just a crazy?
Anyway again I say good job!
Keep writing!

Man, I love everything that you write. I especially love the beginning. It makes the most sense in the world, and I'm sure a lot of people could relate to it, as I did. Wow, seriously, keep writing, you're really great at it! I can't wait to read your future work.

Hey,

I re-read this and have decided that you should defently do something with the start of this poem. It is pure genius.
