Boxes stacked around your room
On your face is written gloom

Moving day is coming fast
And soon your life will be your past

Searching far and searching wide
You scrounge your house for things that hide

To pack them up and put away
Your mother said “Nothing will stay”

In your journey for your junk
You find an old forgotten trunk

You open it with little hope
That it is more than needing soap

Surprisingly, in it you find
Many papers that remind

You of days so long ago
Memories come and say “Hello”

“Remember when going to school
Was fun, and boys were made of drool?”

“Or back when drama was just when
Someone stole your favorite crayon?”

You look at your schoolwork from so long before
Your mom started caring about your score

Your progress report showed you letter grades
P for Poor and G for Great

Ten minutes a day you got to sleep
Time was reserved for counting sheep

Your biggest choice was to decide
To go and swing, or try the slide

Looks were nothing and clothes were OK
The question for friendship was how well you play

You wanted to grow up, to be a cool teen
With freedom, no bedtime, and lots of caffeine

How stupid you were, you did then not know
That pop is no want; you need it to go

Now as a teenager with zits and stress
There’s nothing you wouldn’t give to have a rest

You’d do anything, pay any price
To be that little kid again with the head lice

But childhood is gone, the present is here
And you’re looking at adulthood, your heart gripped in fear

Man, I never thought that I was going to read a poem I can really relate to. It really put into poetic words how many teens are feeling, including me. The thing I really loved was that your poem was the first I read that every line you started with a capital letter. But you should put a comma here and there, because when you read poetry aloud, it doesn't make a pause until there is a punctuation. Keep on writing!

hello ultraviolet. :)
this moved me. just a few days ago i was clearing my stuff, getting rid of my high school trash, and i came up upon several pieces of paper which used to be my unshaped ideas. it was kinda funny in a way, saying goodbye to something which was, just a few years ago, used to be the happiest time of your life.

i like it how you break down the poem into two lines per stanza, to further emphasize the rhyming words, maybe?
nicely done.

-telle.
You've got the key to my heart..but have you forgotten about a duplicate?
Sorry. I've already given it to someone else.

Thanks! :) As for the stanzas... I don't know, that's just how it turned out. It just sort of worked with my idea.
