talk to the wind, talk to the sky, talk to the man with the reason why...let me know what you find.

Hello, everyone! Excuse the quite random subject. I'm Rain. I'm fourteen years old and hoping to improve my writing skills. Well, what I'm looking for most is how to get more inspiration for things to write about - I seem to have quick moments of inspiration that leave me within half an hour (and usually at the worst times, when I have no access to a computer). But I want to improve my writing skills along the way, too. Unlike a fair few people, I'm assuming, here, I don't want to be an author as my career. Well, not my only one (plus I don't know if I'll ever finish a whole book!). I want to be a psychologist, and writing is just something I enjoy. I write to express my emotion through words, and it makes everything more bearable. That and music. Music is love, too. I'll often quote song lyrics in everyday speech to get a point across (or in 'about me' forum posts, apparently! *points to top* It's a Taylor Swift song). That said, I'm generally an introvert. My parents think I'm antisocial because I listen to music all the time, but it's really the other way around :) Anyhoo, enough rambling from me! I look forward to meeting some new people here!

Edit: Oh, in case anyone's curious, my username comes from a song from the musical RENT :smt002

Hiya, LaVieBoheme!

That's actually my favorite song on the soundtrack; that and "Today For You, Tomorrow For Me..." Haha.

So, I'm Freyja. Nice to meet you and welcome to YWS!

First of all, I'll point you to my favorite "I have a question about the site! Aaaah!" thread: topic54894.html Seriously. Nearly everything you could ask about the site itself is answered there. I still refer to that from time to time.

Mm, the long-term case of writers block. I had that once. It was actually joining YWS that killed it. Anyway, I do recommend that if you can, carry a mini-notebook and something to write with everywhere you go and as soon as you get an idea, no matter how ridiculous, write it down. Write down phrases that catch your eye, snippets of story you randomly think of... Then when you get some free time and somewhere to do it, just write for a little bit. Even if what you write seems like it's no good, keep it because sometimes you can pull bits and pieces from a few different "no-good" works and combine the ideas to get a good idea.

If you're still stuck on anything, don't be afraid to drop me a PM. I'd be happy to help! Otherwise, hope to see you around!

Peace,
Freyja out.

Hello there!

I think the title of your topic is from 'Mean Girls', am I right? The part wherein the boy sends candy canes... blah blah blah...

Okay, back to the topic.

Welcome to YWS!! *pops confetti*

How are you doing so far? Yes, we all came here because we want to improve our literary skills but in here, it's more than what you really think it is. Not only you can improve but you can review other's work, have fun and enjoy! It's because you can meet and gain new friends. This is just not an ordinary website where young writers can publish their works. I tell you, this website is really good and awesome. I hope you enjoy here as much as I do.

PM me for questions. If you want a review, just click the 'Request' link on my signature.

Peace out! :smt004

Heya LaVie!

I, Skins, welcome thee to The Young Writer's Society! (Don't worry, I don't actually talk like that)

So yeah, welcome to YWS! You are bound to make some good friends here, I definitely have. At first, this site can be confusing, so if you are at all confused, just send me a private message and ask me for help. I will be happy to do so. In fact, I will be very happy because someone is talking to me. I will feel loved. :smt007 If you ask me for a review, I'll be even happier.

If you have a more serious problem than being a bit lost, you should contact a Moderator. In case you're unsure, a Moderator is a member who's username is coloured in green. Don't worry they don't bite. Well, they don't as far as I'm aware. Just tell them your problem by sending them a private message and the will be happy to help.

I seem to have quick moments of inspiration that leave me within half an hour (and usually at the worst times, when I have no access to a computer)

I know how you feel! I am exactly the same. You know what...? That is what makes us cool. Therefore, we win. Epically. I am sure though that you will be able to get plenty of help while you are on YWS. I certainly do! 8)

Once again... Welcome to YWS!

xoxo Skins
I didn't know what to put here so I put this.

Hey, Rain! Welcome to YWS!

Actually, there're quite a few people here who aren't in writing as a career, but as a hobby. And psychology is awesomesauce, unless you happen to study it at my school, where they endeavour to make it as inanely boring as possible.

I think the others above me have said everything I would say here, so I can only really say with them, that if there's anything you need, I'll be happy to help you out. Seriously. And that, my friend, is quite an achievement for a nutter such as myself.

Hey, Rain!

I had to come read this post just because of the title. xD Anyway, welcome to YWS!

Psychology rocks! I just took one of my matriculation exams on psychology, and I did pretty well :) It's a very interesting subject, I think. What field of psychology do you find the most interesting? When I was taking the courses, I liked everything related to mental illnesses and personality best.

You seem like a fun addition to YWS! I hope to see you around!

Thanks for the warm welcomes! :) Nice to meet you all!

Freyja - Thank you for the link and the suggestion. I've heard similar things around the internet, so I might actually give it a go now, thanks! Today For You, Tomorrow For Me is brilliant too, I love that song!

Yuri - Yep, it's from Mean Girls, haha. Yay, confetti! I've heard some awesome things about YWS, so I'm sure I'll love it. It sounds great already.

Skins - Thank you, and yes, I must say we do win quite epically. I love your avvie!

Grin - Aw, good to know. Teachers making subjects boring that would otherwise be quite interesting will be the death of us! I'm moving schools soon, and psychology is actually a subject there, so I'm hoping it won't be too bad.

Demeter - Ahahaha, that particular scene of Mean Girls was stuck in my head xD Congrats on your exam! I haven't really had too much experience with psychology yet, but as I mentioned to Grin, I'm moving schools next year to a school which offers it as a subject, so hopefully it'll be fun! However, from what little knowledge I do have, I'm fascinated with mental illnesses too, particularly schizophrenia. By the way, I love your avvie - The Lion King is my favourite childhood movie <3

Mizzle - Rain is a fairly common name from what I've seen, so hopefully I won't find anyone else with the same name, haha. The chat room sounds fun; I'll be sure to check it out!

Again, lovely to meet everyone! I'll see you around! ^-^

Ahh, Galerius, you stole what I was gonna say!

Anyways, welcome Rain! It seems like I'm a little late to the party, but oh well...I just had to say WELCOME TO YWS!!

Welcome Rain!

Enjoy us! We're all crazy...

Anyways, if you ever need anything - a review, a question answered, etc. - just shoot me a PM!

Crazy furry out!
