Chapter 1
The warm breeze whipped my black hair behind me. My olive skin tingled from the warmth of the sun’s rays. I lifted my head up toward the neon blue sky and signed. I loved this weather, especially after a week of excessive downpour. I felt my dog pull at her leash.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m coming.” I said, keeping my eyes closed. I started walking again. I wanted to enjoy this weather while I had it. My dog pulled harder on her leash. She kept pulling harder and harder, taking me with her. Soon enough, she had me speed walking after her. Right when I was about to open my eyes, I bumped into something hard. It knocked me right onto my butt.
“Oh, shi, Skylar!” I yelled. I looked up and saw a guy. The first thing I noticed about him was his eyes. He had bright light blue eyes you could literally see from a mile away. It also looked like he had eyeliner on, but as I examined his eyes longer there was no eyeliner there.
“Oh, why hello there…” I laughed, as I got up and pushed a strand of my hair behind ear.
“Hey,” He said, as he smiled and started to pet my dog. She was nearly drooling over him. The sun beamed onto his hair, making his brown locks shine brilliantly.
“I have to go. Bye.” He said. He stopped petting my dog and went to walk away. Skylar ran right in front of him. His foot got caught on the leash and Skylar ran a few feet away. I went in front of him to try to catch him, but I was too weak to hold him up and we fell onto the ground together. My back hit hard against the gravel and I hugged him as I yelped in pain.
He finally lifted himself up, but still on top of me. His eyes showed sympathy.
“Sorry, I tried to help, but that didn’t work. I’m sorry.” I said, lowering my eyes and grimacing. He smiled at me and looked me right in my gray eyes.
“It’s okay. You don’t need to apologize.” He answered. That’s when I noticed I was still hugging him, I blushed and let go. He smirked slightly.
“Is your back okay?” He asked. Heck no! I thought, but I didn’t tell him that.
“Yeah, yeah, it’s perfectly fine.”
“We should probably get up.”
“Oh, um, yeah.”
We both got up, and I grabbed my dog’s leash again.
“I’m sorry about your back.” He said, while ruffling his hair.
“No, it’s fine it’s my fault.”
“No, it’s your dogs fault.” We both looked at her, as she sat there with her innocent eyes. We laughed at the same time.
“Well, I have to go. Next time your dog won’t trip me.” He said, smiling. He started walking away and I looked back at him adoringly. I squealed in my head. I had never seen him around here before. Maybe he was a friend of one of my neighbors and was walking home.
I started walking home and hummed a song that had been stuck in my head all day long. I kept smiling all the way home. That boy officially made my day.
