Art Finished Over the Past Year

This one was for my girlfriend and it's among the first drawing of its like that I have made.

I made this for my Aunt. It's a drawing of her dog.


I don't know why I call this one Water. I had the thought of this thing swimming through the ocean and thought that maybe I could just make it water itself.


I made this one for a story I had planned out which I don't plan on finishing called The Unorthodox Desert.


In regards to those who are confused with this one: It isn't anything in particular, but whenever someone asks me what it is I would tell them that it's a mutated crow's head.


I drew this on my backpack with a paint marker.


I made this one for my Grandma as a Christmas present.


The small box head in the lower left corner of this the head of Chadam, a character made by Alex Pardee for The Used.

Cool! Some are kind of twisted, but it just makes me appreciate them that much more because it means you put that much more effort into it. I especially like the first one; there's something about that scene that inspires me to write about the land in which that little snapshot is located. If your girlfriend didn't like that, she's insane. The second one is pretty awesome too. I can't believe you drew #6 on your BACKPACK... wow.

You're art is very Alex Pardee-esque. I like it. I really like the one that you called "water" I dunno why, it just look very cool.

Hey, faded. KD here to review!

1st: Wow. I love how you captured the depth of the pond perfectly. I love the mountains(?) in the background, and how the right corner of the page is especially dark.
2nd: Nice job!
3rd: Haha, very cool! Love the varying strokes, and the part where the, er, water reaches the water (can I say that?)!
4th: Nice. I think this one would be better if you added more depth in the monster's chest. (Cool sig, by the way. )
5th: The colors are amazing! I love the beak and how its head is tilted sideways, which has a great effect. I also like how the colors seem to be falling off of the picture.
6th: Wow, again. Just wow.
7th: I wish the bird stood out more; my eye is pulled towards the background, not the bird.
8th: My favorite. Awesome. I love the treeish hand that seems like its almost supporting everything above it.

These are all wonderful. I just wish you'd had better pictures of them. Have you considered investing in a scanner?

Your surrealism is just wonderful. There's so much detail, and they all seem so tangible even though it's impossible for them to exist in reality. Your realism, on the other hand, could use some work. The dog looks a touch deformed with the huge-seeming head and super-skinny leg. The bird looks stiff and lifeless and, though this may be because of the quality of the photo, like it doesn't belong to the rest of the picture texture-wise (which looks a bit simplistic to me). Also, the way it's gripping the branch seems impossible.

Overall, though, these are excellent. My favorite out of all of these would have to be the mutated crow's head.

Hey, Faded! I don't review much nowadays (I'm such an old person...), but I enjoy looking at the Art & Photography section every now and then since that's what I love the most. I saw yours and decided it was definitely worth a comment. Lucky you! The first thing I noticed was your attention to detail, and your obvious patience while making art, which small, exact little lines and details. I admire that a lot. I also notice that you're an Alex Pardee fan, judging mostly by the little Chadam guy in the left hand corner of the last photo. That's pretty awesome. Anyway, I'll get to the actual review.

1: The shading on this one is phenomenal. One thing I saw right off the bat, though, is that in the reflection of the water (ice?), the pillar doesn't really look the same. In the reflection, it looks very smooth and plain, whereas the real thing has much more detail. That's really all I can point out in this though. It's a very nice drawing that's definitely not boring to look at. You girlfriend should have been very pleased.

2: I think the proportions in this are a little off. The head and front paw look great and very dog-like. However, as my eyes moves towards the rest of the dog, it's a bit small. The leg is very small and almost warped looking. The colors are very nice, though, and I love the dripping affect you've created. It looks very nice!

3: Here's where we get very Pardee, with that very blunt, inelegant style that I've tried again and again to mimic. I suppose my style of art is too elegant to create the twisted little creatures he makes up. Haha. The shading is great in this. Your lines are very precise, which can often be difficult as an artist. I love the detail in this; the maze-like pattern in the cup thing, the eye, the sluggish folds of whatever it's made out of (water?). And, by the way. I love your signature. Fancy stuff.

4: My gripe with this one is that the shading isn't bold enough. The lines are too soft and sketchy, which I think lessens the viscousness of the creature. Go all out! Make the dark areas even darker, make the light shine on his scales! I think once you've accomplished that, this will stand out so much more. Also, the hands are amazing. Especially the one further away. Very nice work.

5: This one is by far my favorite. I like that it's not really a specific shape (haha, mutated crow head. Nice). The colors are amazing. What did you do it with? Pastels? That's what it looks like, but it's hard to tell. I especially love the almost delicate detail at the bottom. It looks great.

6: I honestly have no idea what to day about this other than it's cool, in a creepy sort of way. I'd feel pretty cool walking down the hall wearing that on my backpack.

7: This is your most delicate of all your pieces. I guess your grandma might appreciate that more than some of the other things you've drawn. Haha. The first thing I noticed was that the bird's legs appear to be a bit too long, looking at the rest of it's body. But at the same time, it's almost hard to notice the bird at all. Though it's the central subject of this piece, my eyes are immediately drawn the the background because it's so much more dramatic and dark. The bird, I think, could use a lot more shading. Even more than the background. I can see where it might be interpreted that the bird is light and fragile compared to the world (... you can tell I'm an artist, haha), but it's just so light that it doesn't stand out to me. Even so, it really is very lovely and I like it a lot.

8: And lastly, this one! I'll say right off that my favorite thing is the clock, because it's the darkest thing in the drawing, and it stands out a lot. There's so many things to look at in this picture that it'd never cease to be interesting. I so very much love the precise lines that make a wood-like pattern, and the human essence of the creature. I do wonder, though. What is the significance of the Chadam in the corner? Did you just add it for fun. I think I would have almost liked it without.

Overall, I think you're an extremely talented artist. I can easily tell that it's something you're passionate about. The surrealism of it all is amazing. I think now what you need to do is really start exploring your own style. Alex Pardee is most certainly present in your art, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But I'd like to see less of him in your art and more of you. Anyway, I can't wait to see more of it. You should message me when you post some more art, or we can talk about artsy stuff. First: Great, I like the style a lot. It's very abstract yet realistic somehow, like you drew a world of alternate reality.
Second: So realistic I'm practically expecting the dog to lift its head and wag it's tail! Again, I like your style. Ever thought of a scanner, though? Just a thought.
Third: I hope that thing doesn't lurk in the oceans...*shudders* but again I like it a lot. REALLY cool signature.
Fourth: Not as good as your others, but still pretty awesome. It's muzzle almost looks like an alligator's, while its body looks amphibian.
Fifth: Bizarre but really well-drawn.
Sixth: You drew this on your BACKPACK?! This could probably sell in an art gallery!
Seventh: Your landscaping's insanely vivid and creative, but your bird looks as little flat and unanimated compared to everything else.
Eighth: Wow. How can you get the patience to do something so intricate and detailed.

Overall, man, I have no complaints. Simply...whoa.

These are amazing! You have crazy talent. I love how some are really twisted. And you drew that eye on your backpack??? Dude. That's phenomenally cool. I want to buy your backpack off of you. And I love the crow's head, even if I can't tell what it is at first glance. I cringed when I read what it was because it was so creepy. Awesome job!
