“Ow!” I shouted as Peony pricked me with a pin while fitting me for a dress.
“Hey, at least you didn’t pass out. There was this one girl who I was fitting for a dress who passed out when I pricked her. And her parents had the nerve to sue me!” she said and Rose nodded as if in remembrance. After they had finished sewing my dress together and put it on me, I was sent to another fairy named Tulip. She did my hair and put some funny powder on my face that made me sneeze.
“What was that for?” I asked, I hated sneezing.
“It’s magic perfecting powder, it’ll cover anything bad up while bringing anything good out. All of the fairies use it nowadays,” she said and turned me around in my chair. I was stunned, I actually looked good for once. Back at home I usually just get up, take a shower, and put on some clothes before heading out the door. I was used to having a few zits show, maybe a couple blackheads, so I never used anything. But now, as I look at myself, I realize that this is all natural stuff in my face, the powder just brings it out more. I had rosy cheeks on top of a healthy looking skin tone, and my skin felt so soft, it was crazy. And some must have gotten on my lips and eyes because my eyelashes looked super long and dark, showing my green eyes, and my lips were soft and a light pink. Tulip had put some sort of gel in my hair that made my waves even wavier and she pulled it back into a loose ponytail, letting loose waves hang down. It was held back with a green ribbon which I soon found out, when I stood up, matched my beautiful dress. It was a darker green at the top with a lighter green at the bottom with a piece of fabric coming around the bottom that was so sparkly I could have sworn they sewed fireflies onto it. The sparkly fabric also had some more green ribbons sewed into it. I twirled around a few times and was amazed to see how well it stayed on me.
“Fairies are the best seamstresses because we can use magic in it. Your dress will not come loose unless you are trying to get it off, and it will not rip or tear. And your makeup won’t come off until you get to Allen’s castle where there will be another group of fairies. They’ll have the tonic to take it off with,” said Petunia. I looked at her and she smiled. “You look beautiful, just like a queen.”
When I walked out of the inn, I saw a carriage that belonged in a fairytale. Then I remembered, I basically am in a fairytale!
“Your carriage awaits, your highness,” said a man opening the door for me. I took a step into the carriage and sat down. I looked out into the crowd of people waving good bye to me. I waved and blew a few kisses.
“Good bye!” I said and I had to yell over all the noise to be heard. The man closed the door and I felt the carriage shift when we started going. The next few hours went by slowly and I felt myself drift off to sleep.
I woke up what had to be only thirty minutes later to a clap of thunder. It seemed only fifteen seconds later until I saw a flash of lightening and immediately heard another clap of thunder. I looked around the pitch black carriage only to find another man sitting in there with me.
“Who are you?” I asked, dumbfounded. Where the heck did he come from?
“Oh, I’m sorry! I work up in the front, I didn’t mean to startle you. Jacob wanted me to come keep you company when you woke up,” he said. Next thing I knew, I saw a blinding light, heard a horrible crack, and felt myself being tumbled around. When the tumbling finally stopped, the carriage was on it’s side and I was all scratched up, not to mention that I hit my head and it was throbbing. I picked myself up and went over to the man who was in there with me. He was unconscious, but still alive, for now.
I pulled all of my remaining energy together and climbed out of the carriage. I stumbled off of the side and fell to the ground. I knew I had to get up or else I would never know what happened to the man named Jacob. I got up weakly and started towards a figure a little ways up the hill we must have tumbled down. When I finally got up to the figure, I saw that it was Jacob. I felt some energy come back to me as I ran over to him. I kneeled over and tried to wake him up.
“Jacob, Jacob, wake up!” I whispered hoarsely. “Jacob!” He wouldn’t wake up. I flipped him over and slapped him a few times on his cheeks, nothing. I checked his pulse, but felt nothing. I got to my feet and stumbled aimlessly away for a few seconds until my knees gave way. I willed myself to get up and get help, but I couldn’t. I felt my entire strength flood out of my body and my head hit the moist ground. And it was just then that I thought I saw some feet coming towards me, but I wasn’t sure because just then everything went black.
