where I belong

I'm finally alone at last.
It's taken me all day,
to get to the spot where I belong,
the place I long to stay.

The water ripples perfectly.
The turtle heads bob up.
The duck floats gracefully,
nipping at a cup.

Music from behind me,
along with muffled shouts.
They can't see the beauty,
even I have my doubts.

From the tree in which I sit,
a leaf falls to the lake.
And people climb by the waterfall,
I do hope for their sake.

Birds soar through the air.
They cut it like a knife.
How lucky they are,
to have purpose in this life.

I hear footsteps behind,
none of which for me.
I know where I belong.
Here,
against my tree.

Hey. This is a great poem. I like how it flowed, and you could picture what you were saying. I especially liked how your rhyming scheme worked. It was rhyming, but in a way that you don't notice until half way through. I think that added to the effect.

I'm really sorry, but I do have one point to pick at. I don't really like it when people say it to me, but a part of it doesn't seem to finish properly. Or more like it needs to be elaborated. If I were really picky, I would say if for a few of your points, but where you say, 'I do hope for their sake.' I wonder, why do you hope? Or what?

I know it kinda sucks when people say it, and I usually don't, but it was the ONLY thing that threw me off the poem. Other than that, it was great. (If I had half your talent, I'll be doing a lot better.)

But if you have anything you want me to have a look at, or just want to get my opinion on something, PM me, and I'll gladly put aside anything relevant to school to have a look. Once again. Great poem.

Waaah, such a calm and soothing feeling it gives! I can clearly imagine everything what you're describiing in your poem.

I like it, and I like the slow flow of life and time illustrated in your poem.

The only thing's bugging me is the verb "bob up". It sort of... falls out of the overall word combination of the poem. Maybe it's becasue English is not my native, but in Russian this word doesn't sound poetic at all.

But I like poems about nature a lot, and not those elaborate ones that leave you in confusion of what to imagine. Good work!

I like it. I feel calm and at ease after I read it. Like, I am under a shade or under a tree myself writing the exact same words. I can relate. Great job.
The best is what you make it!

Hey screamandshout! I quite enjoyed this poem. I loved the rhyming and the nice calmness it gave off. The choice of words was excellent and it was perfect length-not short, yet not long. The description of everything-the person's feelings and surroundings was wonderful. I urge you to write more poems like this.

Keep up the good work.

MWAHAHAHA!

Hello screamandshout! I'm CaptianRandom and this is my very first review of a poem so please don't judge on what I'm about to say.

I liked it. It was perfect length which tied everything together. The descriptions were fantastic and I really enjoyed the message that you brought out with this-the purpose of life. I also liked the reference to the birds with a purpose. I enjoyed your work and I hope to read more of your work later.
