Name: Corella

Age: 37

Gender: Female

Class: Animal

Appearance: A huge black parrot (about the size of an eagle), with a long crest and a very large hooked beak. Eyes are chocolate brown, and she has a patch of red skin on her face. Based heavily on the Palm Cockatoo; picture below.
Spoiler
Image

Powers/skills/weapons: Corella is capable of very fluent speech, and has quite a large vocabulary. Her beak is immensely powerful and sharp, able to crack bone with little effort. She is very dexterous with her feet and beak, using tools and manipulating objects with surprising control and precision. She's a good flyer, as any bird would be, but can be a little clumsy in the air. She has acute vision and hearing, but completely lacks a sense of smell. She's also capable of extremely loud, ear-splitting screams. And she does, of course, wield an intelligence that is very human.

Personality/strengths/weakness: Years of love, loss, and betrayal have made Corella wary and shrewd. She eyes everybody with suspicion, and carefully analyzes every situation, assessing the risks and advantages of every decision. Confident, bold, and very mischievous, she enjoys playing tricks and being the center of attention, although experience has taught her to keep a low profile. She's also a control freak, and enjoys manipulating others. Though she tries to remain calm and in control, she is prone to impulsiveness and reckless behavior. Her mood can change rapidly and with little to no warning. She is fiercely loyal to those she's close to, but couldn't care less about anybody else.

History: Believed by many to be mystical creatures with frightening magical power, Corella's kind has been ruthlessly hunted by Falcon. Her flock and their forest home was destroyed by Falcon when she was only 3, and now she is one of the last living members of her species. Corella and her mother managed to escape the forest slaughter, and were taken in by a scholar at the nearest town. The scholar treated them as members of the family, hiding them from Falcon and giving them everything they could need. He also gave Corella lessons on many subjects, including language and history. They lived there happily for years, but Falcon eventually discovered them. When armed officials came knocking on the door, Corella and her mother made a break for it. They were spotted, however, and her mother was shot.

Corella did escape, managing to dodge even the squad sent to pursue her, and spent quite some time wandering the remaining wilderness, trying to find other members of her kind. On her travels she managed to befriend a Beastmaster, who agreed to aid her quest in any way he could. They traveled together for a long time, and Corella thought they were the best of friends. But when they finally came across a flock of parrots, the Beastmaster betrayed her, revealing the location of the flock to Falcon, and participating in the squad of hunters that came after them.

Corella managed to escape once again, along with two other parrots, both of which died in various incidents along the way. Eventually Corella made her way to Talim, where she has been able to live in comfort, having given up the dream of living among her own species. Most of the villagers regard her as a mystical being, and treat her with a healthy mix of fear, respect, and reverence, just the way she likes it. She's claimed an abandoned shack at the edge of the village as her own, although much of the time she's out in the forest. Every so often someone will come visit her, seeking advice, a prophesy, or simply a blessing from this magical bird.

((I hope this is acceptable. If there's anything wrong, let me know and I'll change it!))

Plot Event – Plot events are just that. These are events that will better explain the plot as we go along. These come to being when a plot idea that isn’t connected to your character is posted in the DT.

President Jerald looked out his window at the passing cars below. The only color that could be seen for miles was white. Jerald considered this to be a soothing color. There was a knock on the door.

“Come in,” he said. He didn’t turn around but he heard the footsteps that sounded like thunder and shook the floor.

“You called for me,” a deep voice asked.

President Jerald simply nodded. “We currently have ten of the twelve nature spirits in our grasp, but two remain out of our grasp. One of them resides in Talim and the other is unknown. The one in Talim has been well protected, thanks to all the refuges that have moved there.”

“Yes sir, most troops that go there don’t return,” he said.

“But now we have our new weapon. I think it’s about time we used it.” President Jerald paused. “I want you to oversee the attack. Tomorrow morning Talim will fall and the great earth spirit will be ours.”

Malik~

The festival of the nature spirit was tonight I usually never went to them but tonight I felt like mingling. Father still lay in bed even though it was the afternoon. He slept a lot lately. I was forced to complete all the weapon orders that had come in today. Currently I was melting iron in preparation for making a axe for a rather dimwitted warrior that wanted a axe that he said could chop things good. I shook his head in irritation. Why was using his vast skills to make such a simplistic axe that would probably only chop into wood. The door to the shop opened and I lazily shuffled to the counter. It was Milinda a fellow warrior about his age. She was pretty with long blonde hair tied. She held out a broken sword. It was a two handed sword, one of those heavy hilted monstrosities. It wasn’t of my making or even my fathers who had a tendency of making swords of mediocre quality. It was probably something she had brought from her former village.

“Can you fix it, she asked.

I looked at the large crack in the blade. It was fixable but I didn’t want to be associated with such low quality sword. I could make it better of course but I wasn’t a miracle worker. I could only do so much to save it.

“No,” I lied. “But I can sell you a sword of better quality,”
She looked hurt. “It was my fathers, it’s all I have left of him please I know you can fix it.”

I frowned. “Then keep it as it is a broken memory but if I fix it and you die because of its shotty making then I get a bad reputation. You wouldn’t want that now would you?
She looked like she was about to cry. I rolled my eyes and turned my back to her. “Take it or leave it. I’ll even lower the price of one of my swords if you agree to shove that rusted junk far in the back of your closet.”

She broke into tears and ran out. I shrugged. She left before I could ask her to go to the festival with me.

*So let's start and have fun*

Elphame

The crack was still resonating through the air. Elphame had just finished with her practice. Her aim was still perfect.

She wiped her gun down and slipped it back into the holdster on her hip. Her hand automatically resting ontop of it. She scanned the surrounding area and headed out of the meadow. She heard the twang of a bow string snap and she glanced to her side. She pushed aside a branch and saw Castiel with his bow a few yards from her.

Elphame stepped out of the ring of trees and brought herself into full view. "Hey."

Castiel looked up at her, "Hey. How long have you been there?"

"Not long, I was just finishing up." Elphame looked down at her gun.

Castiel looked down at it and then back up at her. "Yeah, I heard you." He glanced around and then settled his gaze back on her.

"Oh, um would you like to be alone right now?" Elphame hadn't even thought of this. Her cheeks showed a slight tint of pink.

"I would prefer it, yes." Castiel fiddled with his bow again.

"Well, I'll leave you to yourself then." Elphame crossed the small clearing and turned to look back at him as he took aim again. She smiled and then ducked under a low branch, heading back towards Talim.

~Tala~

I grinned as I helped put up the some of the decorations for the upcoming festivities, picturing how spectacular the village would look once they'd finished. So far each street was lavishly decorated with floral ribbons, and candles hung in beautiful lanterns from every available post. When night fell the village would be swathed in the soft light and would be stunning as every year.

I stepped down from the block, looking around in delight. This would be my fourth festival since arriving here, yet it never failed to amaze me how somewhere as small as here could remain defiant in the face of Falcon.

"Hello there," greeted a voice I didn't instantly recognise, and I turned to meet them.

Quintian - Festival Day, 6 PM

Ah the festival. Bright lights, scented candles, flowers and the beauty of an untouched village. Quintian smiled and took a deep breath of air. Then he choked and sputtered. Too much flowers. Smell overwhelming.

Who in the world set up the flowers? There were enough flowers here to act as an air freshener for the capital city, and Talim wasn't even a quarter of a small city's size. Quintian leaned on the tree's trunk and crossed his legs on the branch in front of him, tilting his hat to cover his face.

A short nap would be nice. He'd wake up about thirty minutes from now, when the music and dancing started. Then he'd join in with the natives...

Just then his back slid against the tree bark and he almost fell off the branch. A bullet whizzed past his head and Quintian flailed before finally regaining his balance. Another bullet hit the spot where he had been a moment ago.

The bushes in front of the tree rustled and emitted a frustrated yelp.

"What the hell- ?! He almost - what in the - that had to be the most -"

"I told you he was a lucky bastard."

Falcon. Quintian pointed his staff at the bush and suddenly, it was on fire. He thought they had a truce. They must have forgotten. Oh well. Quintian could remind them tomorrow morning. The bushes started screaming and running around.

Quintian hopped off the branch and landed on his feet, safe and sound. The burning bushes ran past him just then and Quintian waved at them. But they never came back, or said goodbye for that matter.

Q shrugged it off. Maybe he ought to go to the village now. A girl stepped down from a block, holding wreaths of flowers in one hand. Ah. So she was the one in charge of the flowers. He tapped her on the shoulder.

"Hello there," he greeted.

She turned around to look at him, a smile on her face. He twirled his staff and took off his hat, returning her smile.

"Are you in charge of the -" Quintian raised an eyebrow. Was it just him, or did the tree behind her shake?

"In charge of the decorations? The whole village is. It's a collective effort." She turned to look behind her and the tree stopped squirming. "Is something wrong?"

Quintian approached the tree. There was something wrong with it, that was for sure. It didn't feel real.

He poked his staff up into the leaves. A hand grabbed it and Quintian yelped in surprise, but he didn't let go of his staff. The woman behind her him gasped.

"We've been caught, men!" screamed a voice from another tree's leaves. "ATTACK!"

So much for a festival. Well, on the bright side, he wasn't going to wake up with a hangover tomorrow.

Cheers! Quintian electrocuted whoever was holding the other end of his staff and a body fell to the ground. Ah Falcon. Like an old drunken friend waking you up in four in the morning to ask if he could crash on your couch.

I heard screams outside and went out to check. I looked up to see that what looked to be clouds were shifting into large black ships with Falcon written on the side. I silently cursed. This put a whole crimp in my plans for today. The ships began to fire a barrage of missiles across the town blasting buildings as villagers fled. I ran back in side and grabbed my two handy hook swords.

I slapped my father awake and he got up with a dazed look on his face. "Get up were under attack," I said.

He nodded and fingered the whistle around his neck. I ran outside to see soldiers were being dropped down in pods and now were running about the town.

Bullets flew at me and I deflected them with my swords although one nicked my cheek. My father blew his whistle and a murder of crows flew from the surrounding trees.

Plot event~

Mistress Candor stood and watched the destruction from her ship. She fingered her short blond hair as trees fell to fire. Seeing the destruction of the accursed natural magic was oddly soothing. A incoming call took her out of her stupor and she put the call on speaker so it transmitted through the entire ship.

Mrs. Candor it is time to execute phase two. Allow them to summon their precious spirit and when they do release the weapon.

"I understand sir," she said.

She only hoped Dolton wouldn't kill them all before they could summon their spirit.

She looked down and saw Dalton. He was a ten foot cyborg clad in armor and weapons. She watched as his arm became a machine gun and plowed down several villagers.

Ashe

The smell of smoke and the fatal cries for help woke me up. Quickly jumping out of my peaceful slumber I headed straight for the entrance and found the village engulfed with flames.
"What's going on?" I asked one of the elderly village women running for dear life.
"We're under attack," she said in a frail voice.
'Tell me something I don't know,' I thought to myself. I was about to ask by who before this huge blast exploded near by spreading a wave of debris and interrupted me.
"Okay you better get going now," I cajoled her to let go of me with a nod she continued the way she was headed before and I headed toward where the main action was. The source.

Corella

I was having the most delightful dream...I was a grand heroine, leading the charge to take down Falcon. My army of little mole creatures, all wearing bizarre hats, was backing me up. Everything was going according to plan. Then, without any warning, the moles began to fight with one another!
"No!" I screamed, "While you waste your time with this nonsense, Falcon is destr-"

A gigantic crash sounded right outside my house, and I awoke with a screech. I could hear screaming, explosions, gunfire. Falcon. I flew to the door of my rickety shack, undid the latch, and looked out. A burning tree had fallen right next to my shack, and half the forest seemed to be on fire. The village was in chaos. Soldiers were everywhere, and ships swarmed the sky. Falcon, Falcon, Falcon! That name...Ugh, it tasted so bitter.

The rage I had been trying to suppress for so long began boiling over, mixing with cold fear. I knew full well how very powerless I was to stop any of this, no matter how angry I might be. Completely useless in combat, and with no magical ability...The helplessness I felt as I watched the forest burn made me sick. And I'd been through it all before.

But maybe, just maybe, there was some small thing that I could do. I couldn't run anymore...I had to fight back, somehow! They were after the spirit. I launched into the air, and flew towards the temple.

I saw one of the ships hovering over the temple as those that could fight rushed to it. I saw a group of summoners enter the temple and I knew what was coming. They were going to summon the great earth spirit here. She would destroy all that opposed us. She had protected this land for many years. This meant myself and the others would have to protect the temple while the Summoners prepared to summon the great spirit. It would take several minutes. I sighed in annoyance. Why couldn't Falcon have attacked on another day. This was supposed to be my day to party. I ran towards the temple with my coat flapping behind me.

Elphame

Elphame had been helping with the decorations when the attack had begun. She easily slid her gun from its holdster and felt it in the curve of her hand, her finger easily finding the trigger. She had taken down two or three men, and she was steadily making her way into the center of town. She saw the summoers making their way to the temple, she smiled, knowing what they were going to do.

She reached into the back pocket of her shorts and pulled out a small device. She pulled out the safety and threw it into a cluster of men. The explosion rocked the ground a little, but when the smoke cleared she saw that there were bodies littering the ground.

Elphame ran forward, her gun still by her side. She made it to the temple and saw the last of the summoners entering. She took her stance in one of the doorways and held her gun at the ready, "Try to get passed me if you dare!" She screamed this at the men who were rushing to her.

She aimed and fired and in a matter of seconds three out of seven were lying on the ground. She quickly changed her magazine and took aim again. She stared down everyone who dared to get near her.

She saw Malik running to the temple, his coat flying with his speed. They made eye contact and nodded at each other, they knew what they had to do.

Castiel~~

I felt the wind change and adjusted my aim. I was standing on the tallest building, overlooking all of the village. I saw a soldier sneaking up on Elphame and released an arrow. His head rocked back and he slid onto a wall. She turned slightly, but once seeing the arrow turned back to guard the street.

I jumped off the building and ran through it, taking short shots at anyone I can across. Using a bow in a crowded arrow was not a recommended thing, but a small bow like mine made it easier, and when you had been practicing all your life, grabbing the shorter arrows and firing quickly was almost second nature.

Finally I turned the corner and found Elphame. I ran up, "What's the plan?"

Castiel joned the fray his bow ready as a a ten foot tall armored man ran at us. Both Elphame and Castiel were occupied with foot soldiers so I ran foward deflecting the bullets that shot from a shoulder gun. I was about to continue my attack when Thalia appeared sending fire at the large soldier. I fell back slightly annoyed she has taken my kill.

"Everyone keep them out of the temple. Hold your lines," my father screamed.

Corella landed on a perch by the temple. "No one is getting in ," Corella said.

Tala stepped to my side. "We only have to by a little time," she said.

I nodded.

Plot event~

Inside twelve summoners stood in a circle with their hand intertwined. Their staffs were set up in a circle within their circle. They all synchronized their humming until it was a single note that grew louder and louder. Within their circle a bright ball of light appeared and began to open. When the portal was completely open the great earth spirit would be released and they would be saved.
