To say those three special words to her is a hard thing to do for me… I think.

“Hello sweetie! Hello, Kyle! I’m glad Lila invited you here to taste my new style of roast beef! Come, the dinner’s ready.” said Mrs. Brown as she dragged us to the kitchen and there, the scent of fresh-from-the-oven roast beef filled the room. Lila’s family and I sat around the wooden kitchen table, our gaze our locked to the freshly roasted beef. Mrs. Brown smiled proudly and ordered Joseph, Lila’s younger brother, to say grace before eating. We looked down and there came silence.
“Dear God… I thank you for the blessings that we have just received… May this dinner be delicious just as what my mom expects it to be... Amen.” As Joseph said the last word, I looked at Lila secretly and noticed her red lips giving a try-not-to-laugh smile. We then took the sign of the cross and looked each other.
“I see your faces are drooling already, so let’s dig in!” Mrs. Brown clapped her hands once and initiated the slicing and distribution of the roast beef to us.
“Well, Joseph…” Mr. Brown paused and turned to his son, giving a playful smile. “Let’s hope your prayer will be answered. The cook will be the first one to taste her dish!” Reactions and laughs then came as hearing this.
“Oh, I know the roast beef is fine…” Mrs. Brown said as she placed a small piece of roast beef to her mouth. A content smile developed from her aged face and her head nodding as if to say the beef was totally delicious.
“See people? I told you its really good!”She continued to feed herself more and the rest of us followed. As I sliced a bit of the beef and gently chew on it, I could feel combination of spices and different flavors and the soft beef melting in my mouth.
“Wow, Mrs. Brown… This is like a new… fresh… I don’t know how to say it but this is the best roast beef I’ve ever tasted!” I said to Mrs. Brown giving her an encouraging smile.
“Oh… thank you, Kyle. You’re so sweet. I’m really glad Lila brought you here.” She looked at Lila then smiled back at me.
“It’s my pleasure… And I’m much honored and feel so lucky to be one of the first to ever taste your innovative dish…” I said promptly and took a sip from a glass of red wine. Then I noticed the Brown family looked at me, smiling as if they were touched to what I was just saying a while ago.
“Me too, mom… It’s really delicious.” Lila stated and then gave her mother two thumbs up.
“Oh… Thank you my darlings.” And then we continued to enjoy eating until we were done drinking our beverages and conversations.
After, I waved goodbye to the Brown family and Lila escorted me outside of her house. Then I spotted the silent moon giving its glow all over village and the continuous shine of the stars. The cold wind gave me a chilly sensation all over my body and I can hear the rustling of leaves and the sound that the owl makes.
I then stared at my best friend Lila who was really pretty on her royal blue shirt with words “I’M A GOOD GIRL” on it. I gazed at her perfectly fair skin that compliments her wavy light brown hair and rosy cheeks- wishing I could just be the one and only to touch and caress her.
“Kyle… Why are you at me like that?” Lila said as she gave me a weird look and stood closer to me.
“N-Nothing… I-I just want to say that… um… I-I thank you for inviting m-me…” she interrupted me by placing her index finger to close my mouth. I really hate it when I stutter in front of her.
She showed her sweetest smile that churned my stomach and made me skipped a heartbeat.
“No, I thank you… It’s really nice of you. My family and I truly appreciate it.” She lightly stroked my right cheek from her soft hand and noticed she was going closer to me then I closed both of my eyes- hoping to give me my first kiss but then only felt her lips against my cheek. I opened my eyes then felt depressed and gave out a big sigh.
“What’s wrong?” she asked as she stepped back away from me and stretched her arms and yawned.
“You’re asking me of what is wrong here? I’ll tell you… Can’t you see that I really love and care for you? I want to have my first kiss with you! I want it to happen now!” Oh how I would really wish I could bravely say that to her now… I want to say it but… I’m just afraid. Maybe it could wait?
“Good night, Kyle. See you tomorrow at school.” She went towards me and held my hands for a few seconds then let go of it.
“Good night, Lila. Have a good sleep.” I said and smiled at her; still felt her warm skin against my hands.
She smiled back, tossed her hair over her shoulder then turned back at me and started walking towards her house. The moonlight reflected against her warm and beautiful skin. I just want to say it out loud but it’s too late… but at least I could try.
“I love you, Lila. Always and Forever…” As I uttered those words, I noticed she stopped and turned to me.
Oops… Did she hear me?
“What? What did you just say, Kyle?” She looked at me with confusion appearing on her face.
“N-Nothing… I said I’ll see you tomorrow.” I gave out a nervous chuckle and grinned at her. She laughed then gave out a flying kiss and then she turned the doorknob and there, I was now alone, thinking of possible ways to say it to her on the right time and place.
