I've not posted anything for ages, I know I didn't post much before anyway but I've suddenly had bursts of inspiration for a new story. It is loosely based on true life.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Prologue
She's watching you.

Your totally unaware.

Your blending in like usual. That's why she spotted you in the first place. You had a sense of purpose to being there even though you gave the impression you'd rather be somewhere else, rather then at college, tired of being there, tired of being told what to do. Just keeping yourself to yourself. You looked about nineteen, probably second year so come September you wouldn't be a regular sight around town.

She's watched you a lot in the last fifteen or so months. Her dark brown irises following you round the building. Your slender frame bobbing up and down with every step you take on the plastic covered floors.

Your walking up the stairs to the third floor of the Creative Arts department at Townsend College. She's walking through the security glass filled double doors at the top of the flight, the sun shining in through the window that reaches up to the ceiling, making you slightly silhouetted against it and the red in amongst her dark brown hair shining through. She's captivated by you. Wanting to know more about the shy, mysterious demeanour you give to people whilst you bounce around with your floppy, dirty blonde hair.

Your watching the floor, concentrating on making every step. She's still watching you wishing you'd look up at her. Your almost in line with her, fours step from the top. You look up when you realise you're not alone. Her heart skips a beat, her wishing worked. She half smiles a nervous smile. You smile closed mouth back at her with a little bit of recognition in your soft, blue green eyes.

Truth be told, that's all she thought she'd ever get from you. She was never going to talk to you for fear of looking stalker-ish but it was enough. Even though you intrigued her beyond words and that she wanted to know why you brought a great sense of familiarity to her every time her eyes watched you.

Now your resting against the dark brown, worn out pub table in the crowded pool room at the Rose and Crown. The place filled with nearly every fourteen to twenty-five year old in the borough. You were looking downwards, something she noticed you did a lot, this time fiddling with your battered mobile phone, not seeing anything going on around you, just in your own little world.

It's New Year's Eve.

About ten to eleven, if your wondering.

I write this three months down the line. Three months of knowing him. Three months of amazing experiences. Three months of lies, arguments and fall-outs.

It seems he was still there after summer so I carried on seeing that boy and on that cold New Year's Eve when I turned my head and saw him again, I felt like I could actually talk to him, so fuelled by the alcohol flowing through my blood stream, I rise to my feet. My memories of seeing him over the past fifteen months playing like a video on fast forward, interrupting every now and again were thoughts of what I was actually going to say to him when I'd finished the ten steps towards him.

I liked this a lot. It's very mysterious. I would love to read more of this story. The present tense gives the story an interesting dimension. I loved the ending, it gives the reader a little insight to the girl in the story. I also like how the characters remain nameless in the prologue. It's awesome! Keep writing!

So I've been working on this quite a lot today. Usually I love writing the introductions and the rest gets a bit left but this just won't leave me alone. I'm going on sort of a diary entry theme but I'm not sure if it's working.

“Hi, Don't you go to Townsend College?” I asked leaning into him so I would be heard over the volume of the room around us.

“Yeah, I do actually. You do too don't you?” He replied. I was quite surprised he recognized me.

“Yeah, I used to see you all the time,” I chuckle nervously. “Actually the last time I saw you I think your were getting told off for being late or not doing work or something.”

“Oh god, that's really embarrassing,” he closed he eyes, shook his head and looked away. He pale cheeks goes slightly red.

“Why?”

“It just is. What's your name?”

“Katlin, You?”

“Jack.”

We talked for the next ten minutes. Nothing interesting, just basic getting to know you things. He was twenty and doing Media Production at college after failing his a-levels which explained why I thought he wouldn't have been around this side of summer.

Then he announced he had to leave. He'd only come to the pub to see some friends to get away from a party he was at originally. We said our goodbyes. I lent forward as he put his arms out to me to hug him. He turned his head slightly into mine so I did the same but kissed him on the cheek.

Then he disappeared out of the pub.

Five days later, day two of my extended Christmas break due to the snow that decided to fall overnight and cover to whole of the country in a white, fluffy covering, I find myself clicking on that small, red square with a number in the middle whenever you receive a new notification on Facebook.

One new friends request

I felt the butterflies start to flutter in the bottom of my stomach. I've never really been very popular and much prefer to have a handful of close friends rather then lots and lots of friends. Something which I also hate as it means I get lost in the background. Receiving a friends request is just a small thing that lets me know another person knows about me. I didn't know who's name to expect.

Jack Logan. His profile picture being a group of people all smiling at the camera.

Jack? Not Jack from New Year's Eve surely.

I click onto his profile and skim through his wall posts. A few names that look familiar but not much activity. I click onto his photos. It was Jack from New Year's Eve. I find a page filled with pictures of him giving the same smile he gave me on the stairs all those months ago but here he's got a dark haired, awkward looking girl next to him. Questions run through my mind. Ex-girlfriend? Girlfriend? Friend? She's tagged in the pictures as Rosie Jackson. I click her name, the blue and white info page staring back at me. What looks like a professional black and white picture of her looking back over her shoulder at the camera in the top corner. “In a Relationship” clearly printed next to “Relationship Status”.

“She could be his ex-girlfriend and now has a new boyfriend. These pictures were added four months ago.” I think.
