OK maybe I will seriously work on this. Maybe. I admit all I have posted so far are my lazy spur of the moment work.
To make this story less confusing Imagine a red wall/Narnia/abarat book only with cats and dogs. I am using all my past and present pets and animals I have met or know as characters.
The castle doctor, a chiwawa greatdane mix, was afraid for his life. It was not his fault the Her Majesty Queen Zoe had given birth to an insane number or puppies when she was only supposed to have one. He was doing his best to keep at least one of them alive but they just kept dieing. There was two still alive out of the ten born. His life and job depended on keeping the puppies alive just as the royal line did. Zoe would not get another chance; she was too old to try again. She was almost too old this time around maybe that was why she had such an abnormal birth.
Zoe herself was weak too the doctor decided to give her strength by showing her the two poppy's. She only had eyes for the little girl. She feebly reached out and took the girl in her arms. "You shall be called Clementine, my little Clementine" she crooned.
The apprentice protested, "It is too early master! The pup-"
"Clementine" the queen corrected.
"Clementine needs more care." the young terrier finished.
The doctor warily shook his head, "she is out of the danger zone, it will do no great harm if she bonds with her mother, this boy pup needs are help now" Zoe heaved a sigh of relief and promptly fell asleep with young Clementine on her chest. Clementine sensing her mothers love coursing through her felt the most safe she had ever felt and would ever feel in her short life. She yawned an adorable little toothless puppy pink tung yawn and made her first and last visit to dreamland.
Doctor and apprentice turned back to the other puppy still in danger. "Maybe we should attend him somewhere else so as to avoid disturbing the Queen" the doctor suggested. So they did.
The next morning when the doctor came to check on the mother he heard moaning before he even opened the door. When he opened the door he found Zoe clutching Clementine to her chest. She looked up and saw him. Zoe sobbed "Clementines dead, dear poor little Clementine. Dead all dead. I crushed her in my sleep," The doctor felt his heart go out to the sad duo. Suddenly Zoe's head snapped up. "You. It is your fault you said it was fine even after your apprentice warned you." her voice was icy.
"Your son is alive" he said hastily.
"How much is it alive? Enough to show my subjects?"
"It?" the doctor thought puzzled, "she hated calling her daughter puppy but will call her son it?"
"I strongly cation against taking him out, he is still weak, the weather is unpredictable and he might catch something."
"Arrange for a carriage at 1:30 to take me around to show him off. Do not forget the formal escort."
"I just said that would not be a go-"
"You are dismissed."
