Wanderlust

Moonlight shone in through the window, slanting across the floor. A young girl silently crossed the room and stood at the window, looking out over a valley somewhere in Ancient China.

This girl is the last of the Emperor’s children and she’s alone, far away from the palace which has been taken over by a tyrant.

The girl went to turn away when something caught her eye. She turned back towards the window and gasped as a sudden flash of light lit up the valley....

A group of teens somehow get sent back in time and end up in Ancient China. You are one of these teens and you’re there to help put the princess back on the throne. The last thing you remember is that you were being chased by some strange guys wearing masks and then you woke up in the middle of a field, in Ancient China.

Setting: Ancient China.

Rules:
1) Keep it PG-13+
2) No god-modding.
3) No bad swearing-that includes the f-words and b-words!
4) Please PM the creator of a character if you plan on killing them off.

You can be any nationality you like. If you would like to be the princess, feel free to claim her. You can also claim a Royal Guard or Peasant other than the teen. I’ll be accepting those characters once we have the teens sorted. If you’re a teen, you may already know martial arts or you may not; that’s up to you.

There are ten spots free so far; five for teens and five for other characters.

Name: Jemsie Ashford.
Age: 17.

Skills: Stealing, Martial Arts, fencing and horse-riding.
Personality: Kind, fun loving and full of energy, Jemsie is optimistic and friendly but has a dark side that she turns on the people who hurt her friends.
History: Jemsie was adopted at the age of 4 and has been practicing Martial Arts since she was young. She has recently started Fencing and hasn't ridden a horse since she was 6. Her adoptive parents are Asian and her Grandfather often teaches her Martial Arts when Jemsie isn't at school.
Likes/Dislikes: Likes Katanas and Martial Arts. Dislikes cruel people.
Other: Jemsie has a scar across the back of her left hand from an accident when she was young.

Occupation: apprentice to the princess' wise woman.

skills: knows how to medically help other people, tell the future, and make charms =P Knows how to read, and can run fast! =D Ooher, and she's a total sneak.

Personality: very quiet and serious, has a dark side to her that she tries to hide for fear of being shunned by the wise woman and therefore homeless. Not trusting at all, and probably shouldn't be trusted, she likes to steal things.

History: Jia-li was orphaned when she was five years old and lived on the streets with the other homeless children for a while. One day, she tried to steal from the wise woman. The wise woman gave her a choice: Become my apprentice and never steal from me again, or I'll turn you in and have you killed (she worked for the princess back then, too). Jia-li, being not-stupid, took the first offer and has been there ever since Has had some problems with the males in the, er, not palace...the thing. The ancient Chinese palace thing that isn't a castle or any crap like that. >.>

Likes: Working with the wise woman, watching the wise woman work, but ultimately likes to keep to herself.

Dislikes: Dislikes people bothering her, dislikes horses (her parents were stomped to death by some), dislikes rich and beautiful people (people have repeatedly told her she's ugly, so she now believes it ), and hates sunshine.

Other: the only time Jia-li doesn't mind someone talking to her is when the person has a business offer or a challenge that could reward her in some way. Otherwise, don't even try. Ok, well, try, but I don't think it well end up so well.

Skills: He is good at moving quietly and getting into tough places (I.E. climbing, free running etc). He is very athletic and a good hand to hand fighter (he doesn't know martial arts, but has a style similar to Krav Maga)

Personality: He seems calm on the outside, but on the inside he's falling apart. He doesn't want to be there. He wants to go home more than anything else and the fact that he has to be there frustrates him beyond belief. He does want to help the princess, but as soon as that is done he is leaving, he doesn't care where he has to go or what he has to do.

History: Grew up on a small ranch in the mid west. His family was relatively poor so he was forced to hunt for most of his food. He grew up in the woods so he knows edible plants and how to hunt, even with a bow.

Likes/Dislikes: He doesn't talk about his hobbies much, but he likes his solitude. He enjoys good food, but he resents overly lavish things because he didn't grow up with them.

Personality: Thoughtful and smart. She is very observant of people. She tends to keep to herself, but sometimes she'll let loose and have fun.

History: Qi grew up with her father, who was a scholar of the old world. She never knew her mother. She grew up with books and loves to read and learn. Her father taught her how to read the really ancient stuff, so she's one of the three people in the world who can read it. When her father died, she decided to go to college so she could teach. She ended up being smarter than her professors and decided to leave college. She speaks three languages: English, Chinese, and French. She was offered a spot to work in China's national museum. She was taken to ancient China on her way to her first day.

Likes/Dislikes: She loves flower gardens and intellectual conversations. She dislikes stupid people and long draughts.

Other: She can actually be pretty good in a fight.

History: [please tell me if this clashes with the original plot opening, Scar...] She was once the heir to the throne, beloved daughter of the emperor and trained since birth to rule the country; however when he was overthrown/killed/both she was banished from her rightful place

Other: i think she might have a betrothed kicking around somewhere, but i have no thoughts on whether they should get on or not.
