Here is another strange story from me. Like always, I find myself awake at 1AM editing this to turn it in to YWS. I'm sorry if I missed anything in the rough editing i did. I'm oh so sleepy and want to go to bed. Other than that, enjoy!

When Love Goes Cold
Hiadel
Cleaning the blood off of the switch blade before me I was finally able to get enough off the knife to see my reflection through the stainless steel. Starring into my own eyes, I questioned myself: what had I become? I can remember the times I had been this innocent man just trying to get by in life. Now I was….. a killer? I won’t lie to you. I straight up just killed a man about five minutes ago, right outside of my girlfriend’s house. Hiding in the bushes I had seen him walk out of her house tonight, going down a gravel path that led to his car. Sneaking up behind him I was easily able to flick my switchblade open and catch him by surprise in the dark. He might have screamed a little and put up a small fight, but it didn’t matter much to me. We were in the country, and the only other person around who could hear him was my girlfriend. She didn’t care though. She seemed to actually want him dead by the way she ignored her other lover’s screams for help. I’ll never know why, but every time I killed the men she was seeing she never seemed to be bothered by it.
That’s what had me questioning myself tonight. The first time I caught my girlfriend seeing someone else I did what I did tonight: take a knife to his throat. I took the body and dragged it deep into the nearby forest that surrounded her house. Walking back to her front door I knocked and stood to confront her about the issue. When she answered the door I told her everything I did, and told her why and was about to ask her why she was seeing someone else behind my back when she did something I wouldn’t expect in a million years. She pulled me close and gave me a kiss. It wasn’t an ordinary kiss though. I had made love and kissed her plenty of times that any ordinary kiss wouldn’t leave me at a pause. It was an elegant, calm, comforting… all in all impossible to truly describe kiss. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to tell you how much that kiss meant to me. The only way I can remotely get close to describing that feeling is to say that if someone could ever develop a way to store the feelings I had for one of those kisses in a jar that jar would action off for over a million dollars. I knew that I shouldn’t be accepting it, but when I felt all those insane feelings rush through my lips my body refused to let go. My body compelled me to stick glued to her face and to want to never loosen its grip.
When I finally stopped kissing her I wanted more. My body ached all over for it. I needed it. So I thought to myself, how do I get more? Looking down at my pants pocket I saw the switchblade’s edge shine in the moonlight. At that moment I knew what I had to do. I must kill all the other lovers she might have so that I can have her all to myself! Then I’ll be able to keep that feeling for my own enjoyment.
I did what I did that night countless other times. I’d wait in the bushes and watch her kiss her other lovers goodbye for the evening. They would walk down that gravel path and like tonight’s prey they would perish beneath my blade. Then I would hide the body and go collect my kiss for the evening. It was very simple yet totally worth it. I needed the love, and the only way I was going to get it was if I pushed the other lovers out of the way.
Tonight’s prey was slightly different though. He heard me coming up from behind him and was able to put up a fight against me. I was just about to thrust my blade into his back when he swung around and grabbed my arm. Wrestling to the ground we tumbled around the grass and gravel path. He wasn’t strong enough though. I was able to pin him to the ground and with one hand started to thrust my knife into his throat. He still had a free hand, and with that hand he grabbed my arm that was coming down to end his life and tried to stop me. It was a futile attempt though, because my arm was steadily moving down on him. Before I could strike him dead though he shouted “You dog!” into the cold country air that surrounded us. Then my hand came down and delivered the killing blow to him. The knife spliced down his throat down the middle and the last sounds I heard from him were those of gurgling blood coming up his throat. Dragging his body away I thought about what he had said. Am I a dog? I guess if you looked at it from a certain angle you could say that. Was I just dragging these bodies away like bones to bury them then running to my supposed lover to receive a well-deserved pat on the head? I wasn’t sure. I didn’t let that thought get to me to much though. I’m not sure if what he said was true or not, but I knew that he was the dead one and I was the one who was still left standing. That had to count for something.
When I checked in with my love this evening we agreed to meet tomorrow night for dinner. That felt so good to me! It’s been awhile since we’ve formally organized a date and for the first time in a long time I wouldn’t have to work for her love. Instead of bringing a knife with me I could stop and get flowers for her.
I did just that. Meeting up at her house we both went over to one of the fancier restaurants and ate dinner. It all went smooth and after it was done we came back to her house to sit on the porch out back and listen to the comforting sounds of the countryside at night. Listening to the crickets chirping we talked, laughed, and smiled out there on the porch talking about things we’ve done in the past. Reaching out her hand she laid her hand out over mine. I looked at her and could start to feel those feelings of passion start to flow through me. Staring into her faced I noticed how pretty she really was to me. I was about to fall to my death in her eyes when I noticed something wasn’t right: the crickets had stopped chirping. I glanced out towards the darkness that was the countryside and heard a shot go off in the dark and land about a foot above my head. Immediately I hit the deck on the porch and looked to make sure my love had done the same. She was safely squared away on another side of the porch. Another shot rang off from the darkness and blasted a hole in the porch’s sliding door. Running inside I hunted for something to combat this intruder with. I dashed down the hallway to find myself in the kitchen. Starting to pull out random drawers in the kitchen, I frantically looked for something to fight with. There wasn’t anything worthwhile. I had to resort to pulling one of my love’s ladles to fight with. It wasn’t the ideal weapon to use against a rifle, but it was better than nothing.
Edging my way down the hallway I saw my love run by and was happy that she was safe. Now all I had to do was deal with the intruder. Taking my turns slow, I peeked around each corner before advancing. My heart pounded against me and I felt like my heart was going to grow so loud as to give me away. That wasn’t the case though because a few seconds later I heard someone coming around the corner. I glued myself to the side of one of the corners and heard him move closer. Holding my breath I could hear him slowing taking his steps. He turned the corner right then, and we were both so surprised to see each other that we both nearly killed each other out of sheer freight. Before he could swing his rifle around and blast me away I took my ladle and lunged myself at him. We caught each other and with my driving force we started to stagger across the hallway towards this wide window. Will all my might I knew that I had to press hard right now and kill him before he could regain balance. So with everything I had I pushed both of us right through that window, with him leading the way. We fell through the window and landed in the grass below. This other man had taken the full impact of both the glass and the fall, so finishing him off wasn’t a problem at all.
Walking back around to the porch I walked inside and looked for my love. I found her in the kitchen and walked over to her. She saw me and let out with a broad smile “I saw what you did! You were so brave, thank you ever so much!”. Walking over to me she gripped me around the waist and started to kiss me. All those feelings for her flooded back into my head and nearly drowned what had just happened. Leaning in on me she had her lips pursed on mine and her arms spread around my back. As I laid my hands around her neck and shoulders the thought of what just happened resurfaced. Was that man that had just tried to kill me doing what I normally did on nights like these? Dare I ask if he was trying to take my place. The frustration built up inside of me and I could feel my grip on my love tighten. Was it her fault? Yes. In denial my body tightened its grip on her. The moisture on her lips told me otherwise. I knew that I had to end it though. It couldn’t go on like this. Giving her all I had I gave her the best goodbye kiss I could muster before I started to tighten my grip around her neck. I was happy that I could give her the same pleasure that she had given me before with those amazing kisses. It was time to end this game. She realized what I was doing and our lips stopped moving. Through my grip on her neck I could feel her body go rigid and cold. We both knew our love had gone cold, and that it was never going to regain its warmth.
