More Artwork

These are some of my more recent works, but not within the past 6 months. This first is a German Shepherd portrait, done in pencil.

And this is another dragon - again, based on one of my many figurines.

you're amazing! You know you're good, so keep sharing your artwork! The dragon looks so beautiful, the colours are attractive and you've drawn it carefully and it looks so good! The german sheperd, awww. it looks like a photograph! The ears and the eyes looks amazing, you've used a very clever hair technique and all i can say is well done!

Ok, Bubblegum. I have a few things that help me when I draw.

First, if I can't think of something to draw on my own, out of my own creation, I'll find something that looks like it would be fun and complicated to model off of. Both of these above pictures I got from somewhere - the dog out of a magazine, and the dragon from one of many figurines in my room.

Second, I'll turn on some music - doesn't matter what kind, really - and let it play softly in the background. Me, I like to match the music with the subject - rock with dragons, J-pop with oriental-type pictures, classical for animals and any other subject, etc. It sets the mood.

Third, just take your time and focus. I like to look deeper into the picture, seeing the textures and layouts in the model, and then duplicate that; hell, you could even add more or less, depending on what you want out of it. I use the 88-theory (there are 88 keys on a piano, so there are 88 different shades in every color, light to dark). It's a bit harder than the easily 3-shade set up most art teachers teach (light-medium-dark), but it creates depth and dimension.

These are just some things that I do; you can do whatever you like, whatever works best. It took me four years to figure out what helps me the most... Anyway, good luck in your conquests!

I'd have to say I really like this because you've drawn some of my favorite things! I've always been a fan of dragons, even though I'm a girl haha! Also, German Shepards are amazing creatures. I've drawn dogs before and it's no easy task. You've done a grand job at keeping the proportions right. Although, I think there should be slightly more of the eye on the right. My favorite part of the dog photo would be the hair, I think. It looks cery life like, especially around the ears.

On the dragon picture, all I really have to say is that I love seeing how people draw dragons since it's such a personal opinion thing. Yours is very nice made and is a powerful drawing. Well, that's really all I have to say. Keep drawing!

Now, first off, what everyone else said. I'm just that more determined to practice drawing now. I mean, I'm just in awe. Speechless.

So, since saying how great these are leaves me speechless, I'll note out some things which aren't exactly perfect.

Germano:

-The Eye looks like it's focusing out to the side, not straight ahead. I think (but note, I'm thirteen and not half as good as you) that some reflective lighting in the eye could have helped.

-He looks toothless. All I see in his mouth are his gum-things, tongue and these weird black stripes. No chompers.

Oh, man I would love to see this in person. It would blow me away, I'm sure.


Travien:

-Only one nitpick here. His tail, when it comes out of the crystal and wraps around... how do I put this... I think it's a half cylinder? I don't know the technical terms, but it looks like half a green bean split down the middle wrapped around the rock. It doesn't look as 3-D as I would personally like. Now, I can't draw a cylinder to save my life, but hey, this point is imperfect.


Overall, the German Shepard is honestly one of the best pencil drawings I've ever seen. No joke. You have such talent! I hope you post more!

Love it! Nice shading for the German Shepherd...I especially adore the ears. I liked the dragon also, but the dog portrait was my favorite. I'm sorry, but I don't have any nitpicks for you! I guess I'm just here to tell you that you have yet another fan of these two works.

Ooh... loved it!

Hmm... My comments about the German sheperd are:
-->You could thicken it's leips a bit more with pencil, this would make it a bit more realistic, dogs really have that.
-->His eye looks strange, can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's how it was photographed.

The Dragon:
-->The tail... its inconsistence in decrease of size, I can't really understand whats going on in there. It on top of a crystal mountain right?
-->What's the green thing?
