DannyDevil: Hello? U there?

Taryn-gal: Yeah. Hi.

DannyDevil: I have news.

Taryn-gal: Not a shocking one, I hope!

DannyDevil: As a matter of fact…

Taryn-gal: What? Don’t keep me waiting!!!

DannyDevil: Isaac’s back.

Taryn-gal: Oh. Gr8. Maybe he can help in the movie. Why’s he back, anyway?

DannyDevil: Uh, some family problems. But it should be sorted out pretty quickly.

Taryn-gal: Ok.

DannyDevil: Okay, what’s wrong?

Taryn-gal: What are you talking about?

DannyDevil: Why aren’t you jumping in joy? Isn’t Isaac, like, the guy of your dreams?

Taryn-gal: I think I’m over him.

DannyDevil: You what?

Taryn-gal: I’m over him. Happy now?

Taryn-gal: Hey, Dan, I’ve gotta go. I’ve got a music class to attend. Seeya!

I couldn’t believe it.

How could I have lied to my friend? In truth, I knew why. Danny still had that massive crush on me, and I didn’t want him to feel jealous or upset about how I felt about Isaac and I.

However, I knew that no matter what I did to conceal the truth, Danny would find out. Worse still, Jonathan would be coming home the same week…the same DAY as Isaac. All three of them would want the answer from me then.

I couldn’t keep hiding from them anymore. I still liked Isaac, that I was sure of, but was I starting to develop feelings for Danny? And Jonathan. How could I let him down after his waiting for me patiently for almost two years?

How could I let down any of them.

The solution was actually very simple.

Isaac didn’t like me. So I supposed that that love wouldn’t work out. It was vice versa with Jonathan and me. He liked me. I didn’t. Why couldn’t I just go out with Danny? Why not?

Was it because he was my best friend? Maybe I didn’t want to ruin our strong friendship between us. Or maybe it was because we just didn’t seem to ‘click’ as a couple? Why couldn’t I like Danny? He was almost similar to Isaac. Danny plays the piano, Isaac plays the violin. They both have a great sense of humor. Both are great at sports. Isaac had this dark brownish hair, and Danny has a softer, lighter coloured hair than Isaac. Both guys have average grades, and are popular with almost everyone.

But why? Why couldn’t I like Danny? He was cute, too, having these sweet, dark eyes. I tried to think of his delicious, sentimental eyes, but somehow, Isaac’s eyes came up to mind instead.

Aaahh….Isaac’s eye’s were gray, almost always sparkling with humor. When he listened, his eyes were quiet, calm, attentive. When he laughed, they shone with laughter. He made me enjoy all the time I spent with him.

Danny made me feel like I could always be dependant on him. His eyes are deep, full of trust. Looking so fragile…… I haven’t seen him cry before, but I don’t want to. If he did, I wouldn’t want to look at his eyes. They might break…

And what about the faithful Jonathan? Extremely faithful. His eyes always full of concern, did I like the attention from him? Or did I want to be independent? He always listens to me in interest. As if everything I say is important. Maybe it is, or maybe he’s just acting, to make me feel attracted to him. If he is acting, it’s pretty good. His head cocks a bit when he listens. The first thing you notice about him is his sandy hair, then you look into his puppy dog eyes, wondering if he’s ever liked anyone else other than you, since he looks at you like you’re the best human on earth.

Three wonderful guys. Only one decision to make. Once I do, two of them will leave my life. One might stay, or he might eventually go away.

This is difficult. Sometimes, I would rather have a boring life. Anything. As long as I didn’t have to hurt anyone.

“Oh my gawd, guys!” I exclaimed happily, “That was great! I think we can take a short break, and then we’ll continue to the scene where the students are trying to escape from the police. Take a nice rest, guys, you’re gonna need it!”

“You’re a great director, you know that?” Chloe told me as I took a large gulp of water.

I gave her a smile, “Not that great, but the script you wrote is great! The story’s so original!”

“Thanks, but you’re gotta stop being so modest and everything, sometimes, stop worrying about what other people think. Just do it. Worry about the consequences later,” Chloe told me. Then she added, “Uh…he’s here, by the way…”

“Oh, okay,” I waved goodbye at Chloe, then walked over to where Isaac had just come in.

I took a deep breath, “Isaac! Nice to see you!” I called out cheerfully, “Danny and the others are around, glad you could come.”

I hoped I sounded natural. The whole ‘acting natural’ thing was harder than I’d imagined, especially since my heart was beating like crazy, but I supposed I was doing quite well for an amateur.

“Hi, Taryn,” Isaac gave me that adorable smile of his that immediately make me fall head over heels on him again. But I pulled myself together in time. I gave him a smile, and motioned to the direction of the ’group’.

I was glad that I sounded normal, at least, I hoped so. Either way, I thought, time for business, which meant no social interference while I was directing. “Okay, let’s get started, guys!” I called out. My social life would have to be sorted out later.

“We’ll have a one hour break, guys,” I beamed around at the cast, “You guys are amazing, so now, go enjoy yourselves for lunch. We have some food in the kitchen, or you could just go get something to eat at the takeaway nearby.”

As everyone started to move away, I looked around and saw Isaac nearby. My heart gave a start. Should I do it? I wondered……

“Isaac, do you…um,” as he faced me, I suddenly lost my voice, “Do you want to join me for lunch in my…uh…room?” (we were filming at my house.)

Isaac looked surprised, “Sure, as long as you don’t do anything wrong,” he added, teasingly.

I smiled. My cute, sly smile. “You wish, huh?”

“That’s what boys think about,” he laughed.

“So…I’ll see you in my room, then?” I asked hopefully.

“Sure,” he agreed cheerfully, going to my room.

I let out a deep breath. He had agreed! I had asked a boy to do something for the first time! I quickly went to the kitchen, grabbed two sandwiches and sodas. Then, I secretly scurried into my room, hoping that no one had seen me.

Isaac was sitting on my bed. He was looking at my guitar that I had left on my bedside.

As we ate our food, he asked charmingly, “And what did I do to have this pleasure of being here?”

“I wanted to get to know you better,” I said, finding out too late that I had just said something totally stupid that made some a little obsessed.

Isaac didn’t seem to mind, though. “And why?” he questioned.

“Remember what I said I felt about you last time?” I asked bravely.

“Yeah,” he nodded.

“Have you,” I paused hesitantly, “Thought of getting to know me better yourself?”

“In terms of personality….yes,” he answered. “So, anything about you I should know?”

I leaned forward, “We’ll lets just say that most guys don’t know me too well. I’m usually secretive, and I’ve never liked anyone seriously before, except for one…” my voice trailed off.

“And who got that honour?” he asked quietly.

I stared at him, going red, “You.” I said finally.

“Why?” he sounded calm.

“You…you’re so different from other guys. You have a different sense of humour, you’re funny, yet you blend in perfectly, I don’t know….I just like you.” I finished lamely.

“Is there anything else I should know about you?” he asked.

“I’m, well, different from people in terms of likes,” I started, “I enjoy fooling around, but I also like to read. There are a lot of things I’ve wanted to try, but I haven’t, or can’t.”

“Like what?” Isaac asked curiously. I couldn’t believe it. He had fallen into, well, not a trap, but sort of into a conversation I had always dreamed of having with him.

Chloe’s words from our conversation before rang into my ears: sometimes, stop worrying about what other people think. Just do it. Worry about the consequences later.

Alright, I thought. Just do it.

Firm with resolve, I answered, “Well, like being in a band, going, like, scuba diving, or just--”

I leaned over and whispered, “--this.” Then I kissed him. For about four seconds. Then I quickly pulled away, scolding myself for kissing him. After all, if Jonathan had done so, I would be furious.

But to my surprise, Isaac didn’t get mad. Or pull away. He pulled me close, and then kissed me in the sweetest way I could have imagined. My first kiss, well, technically, second.

I didn’t care about anything right now. Anything except Isaac and I, both in the same room, together. He put his tongue in my mouth. I was a bit, well, surprised, but I didn’t mind. It all seemed so right.

I pushed myself closer, wanting to be more enveloped in his warm arms. He supplied. I loved every minute of it.

Then, I heard the door open. We both froze for a second before coming to our senses. I quickly turned around. My speed made up for my lack of time in reflexes. I couldn’t believe who I saw in the doorway.

Danny.
