Suzie-

I looked in the bag and then looked up at Ren and Riley. "Who we taking it to?"

Riley shrugged. I started flipping through a newspaper I got from a trash can. Suddenly to tune to hello Seattle popped in my head and I started bobbing to it while reading.

"What are you doing?" Mitch asked, giving me the "you are so wierd" look.

"I'm looking for someone to give the one hundred dollars to," I answered simply.

"In an old newspaper?"

To prove my point I set the newspaper in front of him and pointed to a wet picture of a house under construction.

"A new local orphanage."

"Um... okay..."

Riley came over and smiled at the picture and the date the article was printed. Yesterday.

"Perfect."
"Oh please don't tell me you're archaeologists."

Suzie came up to me with a newspaper. On it was a picture of an orpanage being built.

"How about the money from this week goes here?" She asked. Not a bad isea. It could be left in the building overnight.

"Good idea!" I said. She beams.

I look out to the general group, "Who wants to make a trip tonight?' A few hands go up.

"Ren, you can do it. I owe you for getting the combonation." I say to her. She nods, pleased. This was the best part of the group, delivering the money. I didn't do it very often. Most of the time I stayed at base, disscussing strategies with James and Mitch.

James was very clever when it came to stratagies and almost allways had a idea.

suddenly something hit me, tommorow was Mitch's birthday. I didn't have a gift yet. Birthday were something we made a big deal out of here, because there wasn't much else to celebrate.

"I am going out for a bit." I say to the group. i hop on my motorcycle and ride to a subway station. Thankfully, my friend is there.

"Riles, my old friend. I havn't seen you in so long." Marcelo said.

"I need your help." I said.

"What for, I already got you this months worth of food? Did Bitch eat it up again?" Macelo was the one who bought food for us, but he asked something in return from me. The group didn't know Marcelo existed, and I wanted to keep it that way.

"Mitch did not eat the food. But it is MITCH's birthday tommorow." I said, empesizing the word Mitch. He alway called Mitch that. I really didn't know why.

"Payment?" Marcelo asked. I held out my wrist. What he asked for was truly evil, but I didn't care. It put food in our mouths and kept us alive. Marcelo's only payment was to see someone in pain by his own hand. He took out a short knife. He made a small slit in my wrist and laghed as my face twisted up in pain. Then he instructed me to come back at five am tomorow.

I drove back to the apartment, happy that I had arranged to get a birthday present for Mitch.

I couldn't help but clutch my wrist to keep the blood from flowing for the rest of the day, earning myself stares from the rest of the group, James in particular.

Suzie-

"Ren, can I go with you? Please, please, please, please, pleeeeaassse?!"

"Fine."

I beamed and skipped off to read the newspaper again. Whether they noticed it or not, I saw their exasperated looks. Seriously, they never have any fun. Especially James. So, instead of reading, I decided to stare at him.

He gave me a glance then looked away. A few seconds later the glance turned into an annoyed look and then into a death glare. I just held my creepy gaze. Work, work, work...

"What?" he hissed.

"He SPEAKS!" I cried. Ren came over.

"Come on, it's time to go and I can't wait for Riley's blessing."

"Coming!" Woot, I love seeing kids. They always have the most fun. :)

Once I finally got to the solitude of my bedroom I took out a long strip of cloth from a drawer I kept a bunch in for after Marcelo's 'payment'. I tied the cloth around my arm and sighed as the blood began to soak through. I put on my long leather jacket to hide the makeshift bandage. As I walk into the main room I notice the absence of the usually chattering Suzie.

"Where is she?" I ask Mitch.

"Uh, she went with Ren." I let out a small growl. If I had wanted her to go with Ren, I would have said so. They were going to pay for that later. They should have at least asked me first. They could have waited five minutes until I got back. I was so sick of sheer disobedience. I needed order in my group.

Suzie had done this twice already. I would send someone off to do something and she would go without asking me. I had her stay for a good reason. The first two times I just kept her without food for a day, that apparently hadn't worked.

I went back to my room to think up an appropriate punishment.

I tap my finger on the table. No punishment comes to mind. Shit. I hear the door open to my room. Jackie is finaly back from visiting her sister.

"Hey Riley. I am back." She said. Me and Jackie got along very well.

"Lets start the party." I said sarcasticly.

"Where are Ren and Suzie?"

"Well, let me put it this way. If Suzie isn't dead she is going to be."

"Went off without your permission again?"

I nod, "And Ren I sent out to dilever the money."

"What happened to your arm?" she asked. I forgot I had taken my coat off.

"Just a little cut." I said. She saw right through my lie but didn't say anything. She knew enough not to question me. Most of the gang knew that.

I tap my finger some more. "I am trying to decide what to do with Suzie when she gets back." I say. Jackie just nods.

"A children's orphanage." I say. Jackie nods. Then I hear a door open . Ren and Suzie are back. Jackie puts her hand on my shoulder.

"Do not kill her." Jackie says.

"I am perfectly calm." I say. I march into the main room. Suzie sees my expression. She realizes what she has done.

"Please dont kill me." She says. For a second I pity her, then I remember what she did.

"Suzie, do you realize for a third time you have completely done something that could be very dangerous to us all? Do you realize what would happen if the goverment got you? We all have a ten-thousand dollar price tags on our heads. Mine is probably double that. They get you, they get us all. And you disobeyed a direct command."

"Heaven forbit I disobey YOUR command." She says.

"I am not just thinking about myself. You don't even realize what I do to keep us alive. You wouldn't be able to handle half of what I do for all of us." I retort.

"What are you going to do?" She says, suddenly calm and accepting.

"You cant leave the house for a month."

"A MONTH?" She says.

"A whole month. Consider it a house arrest. And if I find you have left, so help me I will give you to Mr. Kaibob. You remember him? He leads one of the gangs in mexico." Mexico still hadn't rid themselves of many of the gangs. Mr. Kaibob was the man Suzie was afraid of.

"I will stay in, I promise. I am really sorry Riley." she sits down at the table and puts her hands under her chin. I sigh and walk back to my room to change the bandages.

**Well, I would've posted sooner, but had to have wisdom teeth removed and such today.**

Mitch

An orphanage. He mused, making himself a cup of coffee in the kitchen. That's the right kind of place to be sending it - even if Suzie did find it in an article she got out of the trashcan.

Upon returning from the kitchen, however, he found Riley in the midst of 'grounding' Suzie for a month. Mitch glanced from one girl to the other, trying to determine if their leader was being a little too extreme with the way she was meting out punishment. He watched, sipping at his coffee, as Riley made her way back up to her room.

"Ah, don't sweat it, Suzie." Mitch said, dropping into the seat beside her at the table. "You know how flustered she can get when things aren't perfectly in control. I'm sure one month won't be as bad as you think."

Suzie looked across at him for a few moments, more subdued than usual thanks to her new situation. Mitch shrugged. "Well, maybe it won't be ridiculously exciting, but I'm sure we can find you something to do that can help the needy and such. No use in letting it all go to waste, right?"

He glanced down the long hallway to where Riley's room was. She seemed more on edge than usual today, and had fresh bandages around her wrists. Those seemed to appear fairly often - and more frequently when she was under stress. Hope she's not letting this life get to her too badly... "Anyway." He said, clapping Suzie on the shoulder, "I've got to talk to Riley myself. I'll see if I can't get you some kind of reprieve. Though don't expect anything big."

Once he was outside Riley's door, he knocked a few times, calling through to her. "Hey, Riley? Can I come in? I want to talk to you about Suzie." He paused, voice slightly lower, hoping she was close enough to the door to hear him. "And, uh, about those bandages."

Suzie-

A MONTH! Does Riley know what she's doing to me? A month cooped up inside. No heists. No deliveries. No sun... or fresh air. Everyone is going to want to kill me by the end of the month.

Well, better get used to it. I probably shouldn't have gone without her permission seeing as she's "the boss" but I swear, everyone is so tense around here.

I pulled open the little Robin Hood book that I always kept with me. I thought the actual Robin Hood was alive and fun loving as well as epicly awesome. Sigh.

Anyways... Note to self:
Thank Mitch

I hesitated a bit about Mitch's last question, but I let him in. I hadn't put on the new bandages yet.

"What do you want to talk about first?" I asked him.

"The bandages." He said. I sigh. I owed him the truth though. He was second in command.

"Do you swear not to tell any of the others?"

"Yes."

"Well, here it goes. we donate ALL the money we get to the people right. But we need food. I have a friend. He is somewhat malicious but he keeps us alive. He said he would pay for all our expenses. His only price is to see someone in pain. And he has to inflict the pain on them. The trade works out well. The wounds heal. No harm done."

I watched Mitch's face twist up in remore as he realizes what I mean. "Why don't you send one of us?" Mitch asked.

"I could never do that to any of you. And onto your second question. That is why I am so hard on Suzie. I do a lot to keep us alive, and I don't want to watch my efforts get thrown away if she makes a childish mistake."

"I understand now. But that cut looks deep."

"It is, to an extent. But it all works out." I tied a new bandage around my arm.

Little did I know Suzie had heard our whole conversation.

Suzie-

I froze at her door. I had wanted to get items one and two out of my way at the same time, so I went to Riley's room. She freaking gets herself cut so that we can have food? Is she nuts?

I wanted to bust down the door and scream and holler that she should be the one grounded for being stupid, but...

Turn the other cheek. Let her figure this all out. She wants this to be kept a secret, so let her.

I turned around, trying to cheer up to tell Jackie the new joke, but something in my head fought off the compulsiveness, so I just went to my room. Maybe everyone, including me, will be in a better mood later.

I decided I had been a bit hard on Suzie. I go into her room to talk to her. Her face didn't seem as innocent as usual. She knew something.

"What's up Suzie?" I said, sitting on the bed beside her. She hesitates for a minute, then says.

"I heard you and Mitch talking."

"How much did you hear?"

"Everything. Why do you do it Riley? There must be a better option! Its so wrong what you do."

"Any other idea I have tried leads to the government. They have connections with so many people. This was our last alternative.

"I can't believe you do that for us." Suzie said. She sighed.

"But do you know why?"

"Yes."

"That's all that matters. And I think I was a little harsh on you. But I tend to get a bit upset when people put themselves in danger. I am shortening your house arrest to a week. That is as low as I will go though."

"Thank you Riley." she said. She gave me a quick hug.
