The Lovely Bones

I wondered why this topic wasn't up here yet, seeing as it is a novel-turned-movie. Maybe it was and I didn't see, in that case I'm sorry.

However, I do believe the movie was wonderful, up until, oh, about 10 minutes before the ending. Then everything is just horrible. Those last ten minutes are so very stupid and painful to watch. Why? Because it doesn't actually resolve anything. There was no actual reason for this movie.

Watching it left me empty.

Anyone seen it yet, and, if so, what is your view on it?

I haven't seen this, but I so want to. It comes out in the UK in a couple of weeks I think, so I'm going to go see it then. Really want to read the book though, do you know who wrote it? Did you read the book?

Okay this may have been a little pointless comment, but I wanted to talk to someone who had already seen it, lol.

I just watched it online a few days ago, and I thought it was visually gorgeous. Wow, there were some exquisite scenes there.

On the unresolved issues thing: that's how the book ended (in fact, the movie was extremely faithful to the book, and I was really surprised.) Were you unsatisfied with how Mr. Harvey didn't get his justice? (I was!) I guess Alice Sebold wanted to show that sometimes justice isn't really served? I really don't know.

I haven't seen the movie yet unfortunately. I appreciate your criticism and view point for when I do.

I've seen the movie last weekend, and I loved it. It's such a nice, touching story, and the movie itself was quite good. This movie has certainly made up for the suck-fest I had to endure with Avatar.

I think maybe you didn't understand the ending lol Which is ok because I didn't at first. What I thought was going to happen was that the murderer was going to be discovered and sent to jail and then Suzie would finally get her relief and go to heaven. I don't think it was about that though, it wasn't really about her getting her murderer. It was more about that first kiss, the things she didn't get to resolve in her life. If you look at it in that perspective it may make more sense.

I really enjoyed it. The critics haven't been too kind to it saying that Peter Jackson indulged too much in the special effects but I think he used them well and not unecessarily. Definitely a sister film for Heavenly Creatures. Love Stanley Tucci, I mean I barely recognised him!

I quite enjoyed it even though Mark Wahlberg was in it...who I don't rate at all

I read the book, and it was so beautiful. The film left out a few things that I'd kind of hoped to see, but whatever.

I thought the movie was just gorgeous. Peter Jackson did an amazing job on the visual effects. Not only that, but Stanley Tucci did great as Mr. Harvey. Really kept me...creeped out the whole time.

And the accompanying song Imogen Heap did. Fantastic!
