Spoiler
this is based on a real relationship, only i have turned it so that it is both fictitious and a little more entertaining.

I believe in second chances. That much I will stick by.

Love is blind. It coats your heart, warms you, it sucks all of your energy to the last bit, trying to get you to commit to loving someone. Love is, let's say... a pain.

A lot of times second chances don't come after love, and I believe that's why I'm sitting here writing this, warning other love-struck girls about what happens. I'm warning them because I doubt that tomorrow I will be this clear about my opinion, I'll be back to my old self, still arguing with him over who loves who more. I'm warning them so they don't find themselves questioning their authority in a relationship, so they will always be ready to give a second chance, with editing in their contracts.

My warning starts with... a kiss...

When we kissed it was brief, unexpected, perfect. Jeremy's hands on my back, my knees on the verge of giving out(as I was standing up), nerves up and down every part of my body exploding. It felt as if we could have done anything.

The fact that our first kiss was on Hallow's Eve, well, that's not coincidental. A walk in the park on Halloween though, hand in hand, and Jeremy murmuring things in my ear, that... isn't either.

"Jayme," he would whisper, just barely audible, "I love you." Just those four words would send my heart up to Canada and back to Texas. I would swing our hands obnoxiously and giggle, as all girls do, my eyes sparkling in the moonlight. Sometimes I wonder if he was telling the truth then.

Walking, on Halloween, through my neighborhood with Jeremy Bless was maybe the most stupid thing I could have ever done. It began a relationship with that boy so strong, but so blind that my heart was broken and I still kept him as my own.

And there is where his second chance found him. With a girl, in a park, on Halloween.

Four Months Later...

I stormed down the halls when school ended looking for Jeremy. My purse swung on my shoulder, violently, relentlessly hitting innocent sixth graders not smart enough to move out of my way. Rumors had spread that my boyfriend--Jeremy, of course--had been flirting with another girl. I was determined this time to grind out the truth.

"Jeremy Bless!" I yelled down the school hallway, "Get your butt over here! I have a word for you." He looked at me, his blue eyes shining, like shields crested with turquoise. Jeremy's blond hair distracted me for a moment. No, Jamye. Stay conscious. Jeremy may be amazing and attractive and... oh, you're hopeless. I lost it. Then I went back to yelling, "You listen here, boy," I was cross, "And you listen real good." He was still smiling. That made me so mad, and then I fell in love with his smile all over again, "My Momma warned me about boys like you, your beautiful eyes, your strongly built shoulders... She told me never to trust you, and I have. Jeremy Bless, where does that leave me?!?" He didn't answer, but he looked straight at me. I was a tad intimidated. "That leaves me disobeying my Momma, with no choice whatsoever! Here, hold this."

I handed him my over-sized Juicy Couture purse and pulled out an invitation from my schoolbag.

**sidenote: I carry a purse, a schoolbag, a violin, and an athletics bag to and from school every day. I walk home.**

"I have no choice," I said sternly, "but to introduce you to my mother. Yes, that means the rest of my family, also." He still had said no word, but took the paper nonetheless. "Jeremy, are you going to say anything to me today? How long do you think I can last without hearing your voice? You make me sound like I talk to myself."

"Ah, Jayme, but you do talk to yourself," He laughed, "and you lasted twelve years before this not listening to my voice. Why should today be any different than your previous life?"

"Because I have the option." I clarified, obtaining my purse and walking towards the front of the school. From behind me I heard Jeremy close his locker and jog to catch up with me. I kept walking.

I was mad at myself for not confronting him. Should he have known that I knew what was going on behind my back, I wonder if he would have told me. He should have told me. better yet, he shouldn't have been lying in the first place.

But that warning is for another day.

Jeremy Bless is the reason I believe in second chances. He taught me that I, Jayme Wilson, have my own perspective and my own will.

Jeremy Bless is blind.

As is love.
The hardest mountain to climb will have the greatest view. Everything at a different angle: memories serve as double vision, a view from the valleys as well as the precipice. But everything that goes up must come down. The descent from the peak will be twice as graceful & three times as difficult

to me, that was amazing ending, especially after Jayme yelled at him in front of the school. Which was so funny, and I have to admit I've done that too.

It's great you believe in second chances. :smt003
