Words play like children in a street- like sacrificial lambs.
Spotless as I claim, spotless as you think-
nothing more than that.
I string them together, pearls on a necklace that
winds and winds, a staircase to nowhere.
Jacob climbed a ladder toward heaven,
but I ascend stairs with no purpose but to
walk-
I walk because I choose, because my words have led me here,
and I have followed them,
because they are easier to follow than the words of God
even if I follow them to Hell.
Break the pearls and scatter them
and leave one last word on my lips,
"God"...
nothing more than that,
and maybe I will join Jacob on his ladder.
