Her soft, petite hand wraps it’s fragile fingers around mind, and for a few split seconds I simply could not breathe. Sparks like the lights in the trees surrounding clutter my vision as her tinkling laugh reverberates through my sense. But, of course, just as quickly as the ever-so quick beating of my heart starts up the spin cycle, it ends, and I am snapped back to reality.
Noey Andrews has been my best friend since birth, and those fleeting moments of pure joy have come and gone for the past six years of our friendship. Sweet, sweet Mother Nature has torture my poor soul by letting me sit through the transformation this girl I shoved in the mud at age 5 went through to becoming the magnificent goddess-in-progress elegantly dancing about the trees above my head. Looking to the black skies I honestly wanted to scream, “I LOVE YOU, NOELLE KAYTLIN ANDREWS!” at the top of my lungs. Even though I am forever Lucas Maurel: her trustworthy, like-a-brother, next-door neighbor, friend. Nothing more could be seen in my future, while she daydreamed and drifted on the way she always has.
Exhaling, a cloud of breath floats in front of my face. I grip a branch, step off the familiar rocks under my sneakers, lift my 128 lbs of weight in the air. For about a heartbeat, I’m flying. Soaring. My hands find another friendly limb midair, and my ragged jeans soon enough find their seat. I catch my breath, lean back, close my eyes… Inhale… Exhale… This is home. First weekend of Winter Break, like every other, amidst a mighty oak with Noey. Pure tradition, we’ve never broken it, not a single year since we were old enough to know how to sneak out of the house and climb a tree. Alone with our tradition, relaxation, and love, all is at peace. I turn my head, blinking to adjust to the darkness once more, and see her staring up at the stars; mousy brown bangs falling in her face, mingling with elegant eyelashes that guard her deep pine green eyes, and those hands… Gripping the thick, rough limb under her thighs. Time pauses for a minute or two while I sit there, looking over her figure, bare legs (down to her calf-high beige Uggs), and tiny arms swallowed by an over-sized grey hoodie. Her feet swing rhythmically back and forth, and I wonder how she’s staying warm…
“Hm?” she chirps, cocking her head slightly to focus questioning eyes in my direction. Confusion hits for a fleeting instant, before realization follows letting me know I was thinking aloud. I can feel my cheeks burning as I fish through my sleepy thoughts for an explanation.
“I, er…” I stammer. She shifts her weight, “Just, uhhh…thought you must be, erm… pretty… cold?” Swallow. Breathe in, out. Count to ten…two…three…She giggles, just slightly, and when I look back up at her, she’s smiling. Those little grey shoulders kind of scrunch together, and bare knees are pulled up to her chest… She closes her eyes and rests her head on the oak base separating us, and starts to hum. She is a strange one… I’m thinking, before I catch on and find words to match her tune.
“Do you remember where we used to sleep at night…” I chime in softly, barely even a whisper.
“I couldn’t feel you, you’re always so far away,” hearing her fluttery, dreamy voice I can tell she heard me anyways. I can only respond with the next line.
“I don’t, don’t want to take you home,”
“Please don’t make me sleep alone…”
“If I could, I’d only want to make you smile,”
“If you want to stay with me a while…”
There was silence, and some leaves rustling, and I wanted to tell her I did. I needed her to know I would stay with her as long as ever, and we could talk and sing and she could fall asleep, not alone, but in my arms… But by the time I turned to face her again, she was gone. So I ended up walking home alone, climbing up to my second-story window, and watching those same stars wink at us the same way they have nearly every Saturday night for over 11 years.
Then I jumped.

I woke up to a sorbet-colored sunrise, sprawled out in the gravel by the lake. My back was killing me, while my conscience whined that my mother would be, too, once I got home. So, I didn’t. Go home, that is. Instead, I tossed the grass-stained windbreaker to the dirt, and ran.

Not too much longer after waking up, I found myself back in the oak branches. Normally, after a long, tiring run, my head is cleared. Not being in a very “Normal” mood, my thoughts were nowhere but streaming the topic of Noelle. By now, I’m frosting over from the cold, hands purple, numb, and vibrating in my pockets… Wait. Pause. Rewind. Vibrating? Oh, yeah, phone. Back pocket. When it registers, I can’t breathe. Noey! I jerk the cellular device out of my pants so fast I expect the pocket to rip from it’s seams. Not like it matters, I can talk to Noey… But no, it’s only mother. I swallow and disappointment turns to fear. Ohhhh jeez… Hit ignore, jump from tree, run home. Best solution I can think of while half-frozen, without-a-doubt, so sounds like a good plan to me. Too bad I don’t end up making it home.
I can’t think of a single explanation of why the night before effects me so bad. There’s no hope for me to think straight, or even find my way home. I just keep ending up somewhere different. For example, halfway down the street to my house, I remember my windbreaker by the lake and turn around. Then it’s like a blinked, and I’m sitting in the park, wrapping my icy fingers around the metal chains holding up the red plastic swing seats. My head finds its resting place just above my fist, and shutting my eyelids I can almost hear Noelle’s laughter… I ease myself into the plastic seat, too big but not caring, and push off from the ground. The creak of rusted metal reminds me of 8th grade Homecoming, of her crystal blue dress and perfect curls fluttering through the air as she jumped into my arms. Why didn’t I tell her then? I’m thinking, How has she never known? I know the answer, and it’s almost enough to make me sick. Matthew Burjess, some baseball playing, skateboarding jerk who ditched her at the dance to make out with Anna Colloway. Some guy that I knew for years and had to watch her cry over. Typically, cradling her in my arms, seeing puffy red eyes half-laughing, still sobbing, I wanted to pull her freckled face close and just… kiss her. I didn’t, though. I didn’t kiss her or try to make any kind of mood, despite the eyeliner and lipstick and glittery blush. Because no matter the moonlit beauty I was holding in my arms, Noelle Andrews did not need a boyfriend or a love or a kiss right then. She needed a friend. Knowing that, I sucked up the hormones and spun her in circles, not stopping until we were too dizzy to continue and found ourselves laughing in the woodchips, sides splitting, when I promised to beat up Matthew the very next Monday after school.
“Oh, Lucas, please don’t…” She tried egging me out of it, not too sure if I was kidding around.
“No, I’m serious,” I turned on my side and propped up on my elbow, “He needs to be taught a lesson. No one leaves my best friend waiting.” I admit, not the most clever thing to say. In fact, it’s embarrassing even thinking about that conversation, but it was worth her laugh. Oh, her laugh…

Hey hey,

May I first say that you are a wonderful writer. I'd describe your style as dreamy, and airy. And romantic, of course :D It's lovely.

So, here are a few nitpicks I have. Grammatical errors, as well as just things I didn't understand or you should clear up on.

But, of course, just as quickly as the ever-so quick beating of my heart starts up the spin cycle, it ends, and I am snapped back to reality.

I'm thinking you should change either one of these words so they're not the same. The repetition just doesn't sound good. Maybe something like Just as suddenly as the ever-so quick beating of my heart starts the spin cycle, it ends, and I am snapped back to reality.

Sweet, sweet Mother Nature has torture my poor soul by letting me sit through the transformation this girl I shoved in the mud at age 5 went through to becoming the magnificent goddess-in-progress elegantly dancing about the trees above my head

Torture should be tortured. Also, this sentence is quite long. It's not necessary, but maybe you could find a way to break it up into two. I just think it would flow better that way.

Even though I am forever Lucas Maurel: her trustworthy, like-a-brother, next-door neighbor, friend

The word forever isn't really necessary. I think it would be nice if you italicized the word friend, to show that he isn't happy about their relationship status, and that he thinks that is all they're ever going to be. But that's just a thought.

I grip a branch, step off the familiar rocks under my sneakers, lift my 128 lbs of weight in the air.

Do you really think you need to say how much he weighs? If you like it that way, there's no problem with it. I just think it breaks the dream-like quality and effortlessness you have going on.

mousy brown bangs falling in her face,

I have a problem with the word mousy. If you are intentionally describing her hair as mousy then it's fine, I've just always associated mousy hair with being unattractive. Thank my mom for that :)

“Do you remember where we used to sleep at night…” I chime in softly, barely even a whisper.

I don't have a problem with this or the lines after it. It's just that at first I didn't understand they were singing a song. It's beautiful, but only when you get what's happening. So maybe change the word chime to one that's closer associated with singing, or just make it clear that they're singing, because it really is beautiful.

There was silence, and some leaves rustling, and I wanted to tell her I did

Up until this point, your story has been in the present tense. Then here, you switch to the past tense and and then back to present a few lines later. Did you do this intentionally or was it just an accident?

So I ended up walking home alone, climbing up to my second-story window, and watching those same stars wink at us the same way they have nearly every Saturday night for over 11 years.
Then I jumped.

I woke up to a sorbet-colored sunrise, sprawled out in the gravel by the lake.

I don't understand how he got from his window to the gravel by a lake while he was sleeping...? Ha ha, help me out here. What am I missing?

My head finds its resting place just above my fist, and shutting my eyelids I can almost hear Noelle’s laughter

There is some breath-taking imagery here. I can see exactly what you envisioned. It's great.

“Oh, Lucas, please don’t…”

Lucas calls Noelle Noey, right? Don't you think her calling him Lucas is a little impersonal? Surely, since they're so close she should call him Luke or something. If you prefer it the way it is though, there's no harm in that.

Characters

Okay, here we go :D Noelle is adorable, and I've got a very clear image of her personality as well as what she looks like. You've described your characters by slotting in facts one-by-one throughout and not, (Thank God) written an entire paragraph describing your characters every trait, using absolutely no imagination. So, well done. :)
Lucas is still a little ambiguous to me, but that's okay because I'm only just getting to know the characters. What I mean by ambiguous is, unlike Noelle, I haven't seen much of how he acts and reacts in situations. Because it's written in the first person, I have a good idea of what he thinks about and how his mind works, but I don't know how he is from another person's perspective as there wasn't very much interaction. This isn't a problem though, just an observation.

Overall

Overall, this is a lovely piece of writing. I don't know if you're planning to continue with it, but I would read it if you do. As I said before, your writing is very light and eloquent, and extremely easy to read. I mean that in a good way, obviously. You don't get aggravated or bored, you just keep on reading :D
One thing I do have to say about the structure of this is that you have a lot of very long paragraphs. Sometimes completely unrelated topics are bound together in the same paragraph when they should be in separate ones.
Other than that, I have nothing else to say :D Well done on a beautiful piece of writing.

Hey!

Grammar
 There is improper use of the word "it's" in the first sentence ^^
petite hand wraps it’s fragile fingers around mind
(I'm assuming that you meant "mine" instead of "mind")
 The word "it's" is only used as a contraction for "it is". The word "its" shows ownership, like "its hair was really long".

 There are also errors in verb tense.
wraps it’s fragile fingers around mind, and for a few split seconds I simply could not breathe.
The first half is in present tense, with words like "wraps". The second half uses "could not", which is in past tense. You must commit to one verb tense, and stick with it.
 Present tense: I run, I walk, I sing. Past tense: I ran, I walked, I sang.

 There are some errors with punctuation surrounding dialogue as well.
I honestly wanted to scream, “I LOVE YOU, NOELLE KAYTLIN ANDREWS!”
When the "he/she/I said" part comes before the actual dialogue, you must put a colon (:) before, not a comma like you used. So it should be "...wanted to scream: "I love you..."

 Capitalization errors.
But no, it’s only mother
Unless you say "my mother", mother must be capitalized.
 Proper nouns must always be capitalized. Pronouns include words like: Seattle, Mom, and Brad Pitt.

Sentence Structure

 I found lots of run-on sentences, such as:
Sweet, sweet Mother Nature has torture my poor soul by letting me sit through the transformation this girl I shoved in the mud at age 5 went through to becoming the magnificent goddess-in-progress elegantly dancing about the trees above my head.
This sentence is way way way way way too long!

 Overall, your sentences are way too long, and also have an awful lot of commas in an attempt to break them up, I'm guessing. Use periods to break them up next time ;)

 There are some weird words as well, especially words that you use in place of said.
“Hm?” she chirps
&
“Do you remember where we used to sleep at night…” I chime in softly

In the second one, I realize that its a song, but you still should use another word instead of 'chime', and clarify that they are singing earlier, because i was like "what the heck?" at first.

Characterization

 The MC (Lucas?) we get inside of Lucas's head, and its kind of funky. Honestly, at the beginning, I thought that Lucas was a girl. And, throughout the story, I still kind of thought he was gay, and said that he loved Noelle in order to cover it up. It's painfully obvious that this story was written by a girl, because Lucas's thoughts seems to be very feminine.

 We know little to nothing about Noelle, except that she is sought after by other guys in the school, and is loved by her best friend. Her best friend describes her as being perfect, but this may be one of those POV-lying things, like where he describes her as being way greater than she really is. It'd be way cool if that was the case.

Plot
 The idea is very classic: person falls for best friend. So it lacks some originality there.
 In the middle of the story, the part where he's alone in the tree (?) it got very boring, and pointless. And confusing. Did he keep falling asleep? What the heck?

Overall
I did enjoy reading this. It's a bit flowery for a piece that is supposedly giving us a view of a guy's mind, but whatever. The sentence length and structure needs work, but overall it is very good.

PM for questions
Cheers,

Hey, singingsaturdays.

I really liked this. You have this easy way of writing which makes it effortless to read it and all you want to do is continue reading more and more of it.
Noelle is gorgeous and I have a slight feeling that Lucas isn't such a bad looking guy, and it's nice to see this story from a boy's point of view, normally it's the other way around, and i like seeing how the boy has DEEP feelings for her.

I hope you continue this story, I would like to see how it ends =)
Keep writing at least you've got talent!

Love Liz.
