Yes, this is another vampire story book. No, it is not the same. This story book is based on the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, and will follow it's general plot. The plot is about a hidden society of vampires, who try to live amongst the humans as undetected as possible, but the Lessening Society is trying to kill them off, especially the civilian vampires who are easy targets. That is where the Brotherhood steps in. These vampires (who are only males) protect the civilians. They are either bonded to their shellans,(wives, basically) or just single. Bonded males are very territorial and would kill for their females. The Brotherhood males go through a transition that turns them into very large, beautiful killing machines, although some do not survive the transition. Vamps may only feed off of other vamps, because human blood does not sustain them for long. Setting is in the city of Caldwell. Anyways, here are your choices in characters:

*The Brothers: Responsible for killing lessers and training the newly transitioned males. There may only be up to 7 brothers, and have names such as Phury, son of Aghony.
*The Chosen: Secluded females of high honor who serve to feed the Brothers and other males of worth. They live on the Other Side worshipping the Scribe Virgin until they are needed by the Brothers.
*Trainees/Pre-trans: Young males training to be brothers until their transition hits. The sunlight does not effect them until the transition. When/if they join the Brotherhood, they usually take up a vampire name (John may change to Tehror).
*Lessers: The enemy of the vampires. They are servants of the Omega, their creator. All lessers lose their hair and eye color over time, and smell like baby powder. When initiated, their hearts are removed and put in jars for safe-keeping, and they are known by the first letter of their last name (Mr. D)
*Civilians: These are normal vamps who live amongst the humans and are most often targeted by the Lessers. May be male or female, any age. Also may have Bonded mates (bonded females are known as Shellans and males knows as Helren).
*The Omega and Fore-Lesser: The Omega is the head of the Society, and the Fore-Lesser is the main Lesser who gives orders, directly from the Omega.

And another note, Lessers are not vampires, therefore they cannot be bonded, and Lessers are male, too.

The Lessers had attacked another civilian family tonight, leaving behind two casualties. The young had hidden and some how survived the attack. The Brotherhood had arrived too late, but found the young and had taken him to Haver's clinic, which was hidden from the humans and the Lessers, and was well protected. Haver's nurses would find relatives for the child, and make sure he wasn't hurt. Dhund had brought the child in and made sure he was protected.

Now, they were back at the home looking for anything the Lesser's might have left behind. Yeah, but they never leave anything behind. Dhund was thinking to himself, noting hos the Lesser's always looted the houses that they attacked. They literally left nothing behind. There was a black smear across the rug, indicating that at least one of the Lesser's had been injured.

"Hey, K man," He yelled over his shoulder to Khaos, "one of 'em got hurt. Serves them right. Must have been one tough civilian, huh?" He laughed in a short, kind of grim way. A murder scene wasn't that funny. Khaos entered the room and checked out the stain.

"Looks like he got knocked down." The smell of baby powder still lingered in the air, "You can still smell those d*mn lessers." Khaos commented.

Ehnvie walked into the room where the two males were crouched over the lesser bloodstain. "Whatcha got there?" She asked.

Dhund glanced around as Khaos's eyes locked on her. He didn't like her being in the field, but there wasn't much he could do. The King had put her on rotation, taking Phury's place and filling the gap caused when the male had become Primale to the Chosen, basically a shepherd for the naive female from the Other Side. They'd just been integrated with this Side not too long ago, so they were still learning the ropes of living in the unprotected world of the Far Side.

"Looks like the helren of the house got a good lick in with this." Dhund held up a table leg.

"Good. I can't find any solid evidence anywhere else in the house. Looks like the regular slaughter-and-loot." Ehnvie said. "Let's get back to the compound it'll be dawn soon."

"
Llama 1:"Shh! Do you hear that? That's the sound of forgiveness."
Llama 2:"That's the sound of people drowning, Carl!"

Deus Rex Regis

Deus sat in the corner of the dining room at the compound. Nobody was awake at this hour. Dawn was never a pretty time for any vampire. He had been vacantly staring at the wall. His personal ghosts flickered in front of him now and again, a constant reminder of all the blood he had shed.

He scrunched his eyes up and attempted to ignore them. He could feel them there. He always could. No matter what he did. They were there. Deus bit at his lower lip and began to hum to himself. It was the hum to the song Rock-a-bye-baby. He'd once overheard it before one of his kills.

A mother singing to her child. He had killed the child. Deus knew she was somewhere in the crowd. He could never remember their faces. He never tried. If only he had . . .

To drown out anymore thoughts he began to sing outloud, "Rock-a-bye baby, on the tree top. When the wind blows, the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall. Down will come baby, cradle and all."

Somewhere cleared there throat and Deus instantly stopped. He opened his eyes and looked up as others entered the compound.

Ehnvie

Ehnvie was the first through the door. She glanced at Deus, who was sitting by himself in the dining room humming a lullabye to himself. She looked over her shoulder as Dhund and Khaos materialized outside. She cleared her throat, thinking Deus wouldn't want the others to hear him.

He looked up just as the other two walked in.

Khaos

Khaos strode into the foyer of the compound, the colorful mosaic as beautiful as it had been the first time he'd entered the place.

His transition had been a bitch, and when he'd come out of it in full Brother form, he'd been confused. He was the son of two regular civilians, but he apparently had a little warrior in his veins. His pops had been freaked that his son was a good foot taller than him, but that had changed into absolute pride when he'd realized that his own blooded son was a Brother. His mom had been stuck somewhere between fear and pride, Khaos hadn't been able to figure it out. Then, his parents had agreed to let him get adjusted to his new body before contacting the Brotherhood.

Two weeks later, right before they were supposed to send a letter to the Brotherhood, the lessers raided their home while Khaos wasn't home. He'd spent the next 150 years hunting lessers on his own. He made his way into Caldwell about a year ago, and that's when one of the Brother's found him in action and brought him for his induction. Half a year later, he meets the female of his life and mates her.

Khaos walked into the dining room where Ehnvie had gone and saw one of the other Brothers sitting by himself. "Hey, Deus. What's doing?" He asked.

"Waiting on food."

"I feel ya." Khaos nodded and wrapped an arm around his shellan's waist and pulled her into his lap.

"Last Meal shall be ready in a few moments, my lord." The head doggen(servant) Fritz, said, appearing through the door that led into the kitchen.
Llama 1:"Shh! Do you hear that? That's the sound of forgiveness."
Llama 2:"That's the sound of people drowning, Carl!"
Llama 1:"That is what forgiveness sounds like; screaming and then silence."

Deus

Deus watched as the many ghosts, almost looking alive, walked around the people on the dining room and then he grimaced, with a jolt of reality, as they also stormed right on through them, reminding him of what he had done.

He looked away and nodded at the doggen, "What is for breakfast?"

"The usual m'lord." Was the man's curt reply and with that he walked away, bowed over backwards, until he was mostly out of sight.

Deus turned his attention to Dhund, as both the two mates were busy with each other, "What were you doing out so early in the day?"

It was one of the first things that Deus would do. Ask for information - it had once been vital in his pre-transition-life. He shook his head to rattle away his direction of thoughts and hone them in back to topic.

"Another Lesser attack." Dhund replied with a slight grimace.

"They're getting more frequent, aren't they?" Deus asked with a raised eyebrow - a woman ghost about the age of 20 walked straight in front of Dhund and locked eyes with Deus, the harsh gaze tore at his heart.

He desperately closed his dark eyes and hummed silently into his head for a few seconds, then looked back to Dhund, the ghost was gone, "Sorry . . . you were saying?"

"I was saying..." He let his voice trail off as he glared hard at Deus. There was something haunting him, whether is be physical or emotional. "...that the Lessers attacked again. A civilian couple, one young. We took him to Haver's and they said they would find his next of kin."

Deus nodded. He opened his mouth to say something as the shutters went down for the night, which silenced him. When the shutters closed over the windows, it was quite noisy. At least they wouldn't be getting fried by the morning sun.

"Hey Khaos, any update on SafePlace? I haven't heard from them in a couple of days.
Do those Chosen even know how to use a phone?" D asked, laughing under his breath. There was so much that those Chosen needed to learn.

Khaos

Khaos looked up at Dhund's question. "Do you me SafePlace of the Camp? Mary and the other females should be back from SafePlace by now, as for the Chosen in the Camp, Phury should be checking in today after Last Meal."

Right then, the doggen staff came in carrying various dishes. Tonight was steak and new potatoes served with some type of salad. Not that Khaos cared. He was almost totally carnivorous and rarely touched the greens.

"Last Meal is served." Fritz called. The other Brothers and their shellans entered the dining room and took their seats. As talk spurng up, Khaos moved Ehnvie into the chair next to his and forked a particularly juicy steak onto his plate.


Mr. I

Pulling the old Chevy Malibu into the garage of the famrhouse, Mr. I smiled to himself. The raid tonight had turned out well. The Society should get a pretty penny off the loot his team was bringing in. He looked over at his two "partners" of sorts. They needed to recharge. It had been two days since they had last rested.

"Tell ya what, boys. You guys head into the house, get yourselves recharged, and I'll go with Mr. P and them to pawn the stuff. How's that sound?" He asked. The pair mumbled their assent and got out of the car. The beat up Ford Ranger that had been following them, pulled in beside the Malibu, the tarp draped over the back falling still. Mr. I got out of the car and met another lesser as he came around the front of his truck. "Mr. P, let's throw some of that junk into my car and I'll head over to Big Mick's."

"Sounds good." Mr. P went and undid the bungie cords holding down the tarp over the dead vampires' valuables. After loading most of the small items into the Malibu, Mr. I slid back into the car and headed into Caldwell proper.
