***** Okay, i believe this is the first 'romance' iv'e written. It's based upon the relationship my fiance and I have. The title is something my fiance said, describing the day when i wrote this. Please critique, and id love to hear what you think of the story. It's basically the story of how I met my fiance, and how we came to be....fiances lol ***********

A Dark, Cold, Gloomy, and Snowy Day

Its dark and snowy outside. I'm huddled on the couch with a purple, fuzzy blanket wrapped around me. I close my eyes and imagine the sun in a clear blue sky, shining down upon a dark green forest. Plush green grass carpets the ground. Flowers of every color imaginable peek they're heads through the brown soil.

In the distance I can see myself, shoulder length black hair shining in the sunlight. I'm wearing a white cotton summer dress, knee length, thin straps, and flowing skirt. i am barefoot.

My dark green eyes are looking around, searching for something, or someone....

Viewing things through my dream clones eyes, I spot a foot poking out from behind a tree. For some reason, I am not afraid. I run to the tree, my dress swirling around my long legs.

I slowly look around the tree, and discover my lover sitting on the green grass hiding from me. He is unaware of my presence. I reach out a hand and gently poke one of his strong shoulders. He turns around, quickly, taken by surprise. Our eyes meet and we stare at each other for a few moments, almost like what happens in the movies.

His smile is infectious. His eyes are a deep blue, like sapphires. Gazing into his eyes, a warm, happy feeling spreads through me. My heart beats just a bit faster, and my skin glows with his love. A slight breeze blows through his dark, curly hair.....

My phone vibrates, waking me from my daydream. One new message I open it up.

From Bill
I love you : ) What are you doing?

I contemplate whether to tell him i was fantasizing about him...No,better not I think, and laugh to myself.

To Bill
I love you too, more than you love me :D Not much. you on break?

I hit send. Bill was at work. He works for my father at a Subway Sandwich shop, which is one of the things that brought us together. The first time i saw Bill was at church. We were both twelve, or so. I didn't pay any attention to him really. He was just another boy, running around the church pews.

From Bill
Ha ha,you keep telling yourself that. Yep! It's been pretty slow....which i like lol

I laugh. Bill's a little on the lazy side, its the only thing i don't like about him.

To Bill
Ah, your so lazy! lol

Dad is really good friends with Phil's older brother, Josh. It was through them that Bill and I began noticing each other. Occasionally Josh would bring Bill over to play video games. Oh, we'd have these all night Halo tournaments, it was so much fun! Josh would bring his 360 over, and we'd system link. One time Dad, Josh, Bill, and Bill's other older brother Frank, went to shoot each other with paint balls. Dad, for some reason, wanted me to go. That's the first time Bill and I talked to each other. About what, I don't remember...I wish i did.

From Bill
I miss you :(

Oh, how much I miss him too! You see, Monday through Friday i have school. Bill is graduated already, so we don't see each other during the day. At night he works, four to ten. I know its only five days, but it feels like years when we are apart.

To Bill
Aw, i miss you too :( soo so so much!

Looking out the window at the gray sky spitting down frozen flakes of snow, I think back to those nights that Bill and I worked together. I don't usually work nights, but Dad was having some employee trouble so I got called in alot. At first Bill and I avoided each other as much as possible (both of us are painfully shy), but eventually we opened up. I remember feeling that there was something special about him, just a special feeling I got from him. I loved working with him, even though he was always doing annoying things like spraying me with squirt bottles, or shaking the prep table while i was measuring out meat.

From Bill
I love you more than I miss you. and I love you more than you love me HA! imma prove it too lol

To Bill
lol dang it! you win...this time! oooh how you gonna prove it?

Our friendship took a big turn one fateful Sunday afternoon at church. Bill had been avoiding me all morning. I was a little worried, I couldn't think of anything I had done wrong. My Aunt, who works for my father also and therefore occasionally works with Bill, sat me down and told me that Bill wanted her to tell me he had a crush on me. I was shocked! Not that he had a crush on me, but that he would tell my aunt to tell me. I turned around, looking for Bill. I spotted him walking out the door. I didn't follow him, I was too shy. Oh, how i hate my social awkwardness! It really does complicate things.

From Bill
I can't tell you,its a surprise :)

A surprise? Yes, finally! In our relationship of six months Bill had not once sent me flowers, or brought me chocolates, or any of the romantic things I had always thought that men did. It seems a bit shallow for me to be expecting those things, I know, but women are deserving of authentic romance.

To Bill
Yay! :D I love surprises! not as much as i love you though :)

We didn't talk much after that. When Dad heard Bill and I liked each other, he made sure not to put us on the schedule together. His thirteen year old daughter was NOT going to be dating anytime soon. There were still flaky employees though, so its not like we didn't talk at all. Our relationship just felt awkward.

From Bill
he he :) I've got to get to work now,I'll text you when I'm off. I love you :)

To Bill
Okay, I'll be waiting! I love you too :)

A year passed and Bill decided to quit Subway to work at a mechanic shop, cleaning airplane parts. By then I doubted that we would ever be more than 'just friends'. I ignored the feelings of excitement every time his name was mentioned, or I saw him around town. A couple more years passed. Bill was coming back to Subway! I was seventeen now, and even though I had ignored the feelings i had towards him and categorized them as silly, there was still hope that maybe we could be something more.....

A concert for House of Heroes brought us together again. When I saw Bill walk into that church, my stomach flipped and flopped, and my heartbeat sped up. Our eyes met, and we both smiled. He waved, and I waved back. Did he feel these strange feelings too?

I walked over to one of the benches on the wall and sat down. There were parents, most likely chaperone's, sitting all along the walls. I was the only teen.

The music wouldn't be starting for a couple more minutes.....

I looked around. To my right was a booth, selling House of Heroes merchandise. A burly looking man with tattoos was handing out free posters. To my left was the stage, littered with band members and sound equipment. People were crowded around the stage, eager for the concert to begin.

I felt someone sit down on my right side. My stomach flopped as i remembered seeing Bill enter the concert. Calm down, I told myself. He's just some guy you knew when you were younger.

A loud blast of guitars and drums scared me so badly i jumped. The band had begun playing now. I believe it was In the Valley of the Dying Son. A tap on my right shoulder surprised me. I turned my head, and found myself looking into the beautiful blue eyes of Bill. I noticed for the first time how long and thick his eyelashes are. They suite him perfectly.

"Uh...H-hi" I stammered.

"Come jump with me" He blurted out.

I looked to the stage, where many people were jumping up and down.
Here's the thing: I don't jump at concerts. I don't dance, I don't scream. Tap my foot, occasionally, sometimes I even sing along. But I do NOT jump. I go to concerts to watch, not participate.

Without thinking I told the man I had been crushing on for so many years "No".

******I have lots more to write, but I'd like to get everyone's opinion first.and I'm sure no one wants to be reading a very long post ha ha :smt001 *********

Hi! I'm Kellym and, uh, I'lkl critique your story today!

Ok, so I loooovvvvveeeedddd your beging fantasy-
In the distance I can see myself, shoulder length black hair shining in the sunlight.

The first time I read through it, I missed the part about my "black hair," so I pretty much saw Taylor Swift in one of her album photo- shoot poses... pretty cool imagery.

But... after that, it pretty much goes from showing (my stomach rumbled) to telling (i was really hungry), and alot of what the stary was was about the texting. I get that that was probably the point of your story, but.... (I've been angered by reviewers of my stuff that don't get the point. hmm... i kinda sound slightly dumb now. whatev...)

I also super- liked the dance scene at the very end. You came back to the imagry... so good!

That's the first time Phil and I talked to each other. About what, I don't remember...I wish i did.

I like the end, how you say that you wish that you could remember what you first talked about. It's always nice to remember the nice firsts...

*yay!
*i got to review first!
*please review something of mine?
*lieing the emoticons!

Hi, this is my very first 'review' :)

Firstly, I loved the way your story was structured. I like the idea of using something like a text message to trigger other memories, especially the part about suprises. Maybe the transition from fantasy, to reality, to one year later, could be smoothed over a little.

I can tell you're really passionate about the story - it really comes across. Maybe it's this that makes the story slightly jumpy: you're determined to get from A, to B, to C. There are also a couple of spelling and punctuation mistakes, but nothing that couldn't be sorted out quickly :)

Overall, I really enjoyed your story. I'd be interested to read more.
