My fingers scraped against skin, as I literally tried clawing myself back towards the light.
“Aidenn!” I cried out, slipping faster.
I felt myself being lifted up and air quickly rushing past me, but it was too late. The darkness had already engulfed me, I screamed bloody murder, for I alone knew what would find me there.
Waking up; my head felt as if it had exploded, the pain was so intense. Opening my eyes I came in contact with a pastel colored ceiling, blinking a few times I soon realized that there was fabric on the ceiling.
“Interesting.” I whispered my tongue heavy and thick. “Wonder where I am.”
Slowly my memory came back to me, the most vivid was of Kenna charging towards me eyes blazing and then she plunged her saber right through me.
Kenna stabbing me, the scene repeated itself two or more times.
Quickly I sat up, for a reason unknown to myself, why would I sit up after being badly wounded.
I cried out loudly, my hands gripping at my core, that wasn't the smartest thing I have ever done.
“Chessa,” a groggy voice sounded from across the room. “Chessa, are you awake?” It was Aidenn's voice I realized, slowly laying back down, I hissed out in pain.
“I'll take that as a yes.” he half heartedly laughed coming to my bedside.
He looked dead tired, his copper gold eyes were dull and sheen less, and his normally fiery red hair looked greasy as if he hadn't washed in a while.
I slowly rolled over to my left side, wincing only once; his hands reached towards me out of habit.
“Aidenn, you look like hell.” I whispered, looking at him more closely, his posture lagged where it should be rigid with pride. He fell down on his knees, resting his elbows on the edge of the bed, his face mere inches from mine.
“Well, you don't look like peaches and cream yourself.” he sighed, his eyelids dragging.
I didn't have the energy to roll my eyes at his comment, though I really wanted to. “Aidenn, what happened?” I asked, my hand having a mind of it's own reached out to stroke his arm, it was luke warm. I wondered if he was coming down with something he was usually so hot.
Eyes still closed, Aidenn started telling me all that happened while I was out cold.
“Well after Kenna attacked you, Nalin came up from behind her and tried to tackle her, and I say try because as his arms went around her she disappeared, and then reappeared not a yard away. Nalin was perplexed, I was more in the name of getting you away from her. Finally Nalin shot one of his water arrows at her; and I tell you Chessa, it was like she short circuited, smoke was coming out her ears. Nalin and I couldn't believe our eyes one minute she was up and the next she's laying in a crumbled heap. It was so strange.” he yawned falling silent.
What Aidenn told me did interest me, like Kenna did go psycho on me and try and kill me but, I was more interested in what was going on with Aidenn, who cared about me.
“Aidenn, how long have you been up?” I asked, brushing away hair from his closed eyes.
“Twenty-seven, twenty-eight.” he mumbled.
“Hours?” I gasped.
His eyebrows wiggled up and then down, I took that as a yes. Twenty-seven hours he's been up watching me, because of me.
Propping myself up on my elbow, I bit down on my bottom lip to keep from screaming, the pain hurt so badly.
“Aidenn,” I huffed, clearly out of breath from that small movement. “Go to bed, I'll be fine.” I hoped.
“No...can't.” he mumbled, opening his tired golden copper eyes.
I let out an aggravated sigh. “Why are you so difficult?”
A deep rumbling sound came from his chest. “Now, whose calling the kettle black.” he laughed.
“Well, if your not going to go to your own bed,” I smiled mischievously. “Do you want to get up here or what?” I giggled, pulling his arm.
His eyes widened going over my words in his head, as he stood up. “What are you suggesting?” he asked, leaning over me, running a finger along my collar bone.
I shivered, lord did his touch feel good!
“What do you think I'm suggesting?” I inquired, trying to keep a cool disposition.
He smiled the smile I have come to know and love, love? Wait a minute, that's too strong of a word, let me rephrase that.
He smiled the smile I have come to know and like, wow doesn't that sound so much better!
The smile was provocative, sly, sexy as hell and sweet everything I should stay away from, but alas I am only human, and maybe not even that anymore.
“I think,” he said, raising a knee to step up into the bed. “That you are trying to get me into bed and poor little ole innocent as a school girl, me. Can't help but follow your every command.” he was kneeling on the bed now, dark eyes looking intimately into mine, the electrical current in the air could have started a fire.
I laughed half-heartedly, the pain light years away. “You, good sir, are as about as innocent as the wolf in little Red Riding Hood.” I whispered, my hands forever cursed with a mind of their own, reached up to curl around the back of his neck.
“Little Red who?” he asked, carefully trying to crawl over me.
“Never mind.” I told him, locking my hands around his neck, trapping him so he was straddling my hips. “Come closer.” I insisted, drawing him down to my lips for a sweet much needed kiss.
The slow kiss quickly burned into something fierce, my hands reached down to stroke his well muscled chest, tracing the panes of his flat stomach, running up and down his bare back. They were everywhere, I had no idea I had so many hands.
While my hands played blind mans bluff, with his torso. One of Aidenn's hands cupped my face while our heads maimed each other lip and tongueless.
His free hand snaked up underneath my nightie, drawing a circle around my belly button, up the center of my rips, to where his thumb traced the under curve of my left breast.
I shivered with pleasure.
His lips escaped and planted soft kisses down my neck, to the plunge of my pajama's neckline.
“Aidenn.” I whispered huskily trying to catch my breath.
He chuckled, switching positions so he could lay down next to me, the heel of his hand barely put down any pressure, or so he thought, down on my ribs.
A pitiful little squeak of pain escaped my lips, biting down hard on my bottom lip to keep from screaming, the pain was so intense. My body contorted itself in an odd form, I ended up on my right side, when the pain had subsided.
Aidenn, at the first sound that came out of my mouth, threw himself backwards so hard against the bed railing, that he scooted the frame a good five inches away from the wall.
Tears sprang to my eyes, as perspire leaked from my overheated pores, my body and teeth shook in unison as I tried to compose my self.
“What did that bitch do to me?” I asked after the longest five minutes of my life.
