My DreamWorld

I had created my dreamworld one night while laying in bed. I closed my eye and I pictured a lake, a crystal clear lake. Surrounding the lake were oak trees crowded close together. A gap appeared between the trees and a waterfall cascaded down into the lake sending mist flying into the air. The sunlight broke through the white clouds and made the mist sparkle with colors. The sunlight lit up the lake surface so it sparkled like a thousand diamonds.
In my sleep I smiled and I transported myself into the dream. I picture myself walking to the lake’s edge. I am in awe at the harmony around me and without knowing it I take my journey around the lake’s edge. I walk slowly, barefoot through the grass. The cool grass feel nice under my feet as I try to look past the trees. The forest is dark and uninviting. Somehow, I know if I leave my perfect place I will get lost. Trapped in that dark forest forever without a way out. I know I will never leave though. I love my perfect place too much to wonder what is beyond the trees edge. I journey to the rocks on the sides of the waterfall. I step onto the cool rock and sit down dangling my feet into the water. The warm water surprises me and relaxes my whole body. I close my eyes and lean back on my head in perfect harmony with the scene around me.
Every night I go back to my perfect dream world and just lay there on my rock and close my eyes and I feel the sway of the wind. I hear the pounding of the waterfall on the rocks below. I smell the fresh grass. I am in harmony with my world. But one day, my perfect world was taken over and changed. One day my perfect world, was no longer mine.
I transported myself into my world and stopped. Something was different about my world. It looked the same. The waterfall still pounded on the rocks, the lake and mist still sparkled like diamonds. The grass still swayed in the wind, but something felt wrong. Something was out of place. I walked around the lake studying every detail to try and sense what was wrong, but I couldn’t see anything. I walked to my rock and laid down on it dangling my feet into the cool water. The water still felt the same and the rock was still as cool as ever, but there was something wrong.
I sat up! I had it! There was a presence. There was someone in my perfect dream world. I looked around uneasily as the wind blew my hair around. I peered through the trees, and looked through the darkness. I couldn’t see a thing past the trees and the uneasy feeling was growing. The wind picked up and my hair was whipped around my face. I brought my hands up to my hair and tied it back with a ponytail. The wind became cold and I shivered as it seeped through my clothes and my body. I slowly got off my rock and stood up. I looked over at the lake and gasped. It no longer sparkled but lay still even as the wind whipped the surface of the lake. The waterfall slowed and stopped and the pounding also stopped. The silence was eerie. I shivered this time with fear instead of the cold.
A ghostly chuckle echoed around me and my face paled. My eyes shone with hard fear and I backed up against the cliff of rocks.
“Your dream world is no longer yours! I have claimed it as my own and I shall change it as I please! And as this dreamworld is now mine, you also shall soon be mine!” The insane laugh shrieked around me and I backed up even further. My back hit the cold hard rock cliff and I hugged my arms around me.
“Oh, and every night you will be compelled to come back. You cannot dismiss this world anymore it claims you. You will come back every night and experience the new nightmares I have created while you are awake! Slowly your will fade and you will become mine!”
As the laughter got louder and louder and even more insane the wind picked up and whipped around me harder. My hair was torn out of the ponytail and whipped around my face. I cried out and tried to take a step forward to run, to run away from this madness. The wind was too strong; it forced me against the cliff side, my arms at my side. My face grimaced and I shrieked into the wind for it to stop!
The wind stopped as did the laughter. I stared wided eyed around what used to be my perfect dream world. The grass was brown and bent, the trees had turned gnarled and gray. My waterfall didn’t even exist anymore. The rock had become a dull gray, and my once beautiful pong was now sludge brown. I just couldn’t believe it, my perfect dream world just gone in front of my eyes. My eyes full of pain, I dropped to my knees and buried my head in my hands. Then I wept. I wept like a child who just got her favorite toy taken away forever. I wept as if my heart had been torn out and ripped to pieces. That heart would be impossible to put back together and I let the pieces be whipped away in the dry wind as my dream world was whipped away by the cold person who took it away. Within a minute he had managed to take away what was mine and turn it into a nightmare.
As I thought about this, my tears stopped and my eyes hardened. My face turned from pain into determination and I got off my knees. I stood straight with my face set in hard determination.
“I will come back, and I will face your nightmares head on! However long you try though my will, will never bend! I will never become yours! You may have taken away my dreamworld but you will never take my will away from me! DO YOUR WORST!” I shouted to the empty air. I knew he was listening, wanting to see a broken down girl weep. I knew never to give him that satisfaction so I did what I thought would be best. I would face his nightmares each night never afraid. In time he will become so frustrated he will leave me alone!
“SO BE IT! I look forward to seeing you tomorrow, child!” He roared and I could feel the very air tremble, the wind shrieked and I covered myself with the arms. When the wind finally stopped, I slowly got up and looked around again. My world was exactly as it was before He came. The waterfall fell into the sparkling pond and the grass was green and it swayed in the gentle wind. But I knew differently, his mark would always be in my world. He could change my world with a snap of his finger and he knew it. My world was gone from me and there was nothing I could do, but to bear it! Maybe, just maybe if I could stand up to him he would leave me!
My eyes snapped over and the familiar sound of my alarm clock was ringing in my ears. I sighed and got ready for another day. I went through my day as normal, as if everything that had just happened had never happened. I got dressed, ate, and went to school. At school I talked with my friends. We were talking as normal then suddenly, I felt it! His presence! The same as in my dream, I felt it! I looked around me and when I saw him it was as if time had slowed. There he was, standing with his girlfriend just a couple feet away. His arm was around her, but his head was in my direction. He was tall with fiery red hair. He saw the shock on my face and smirked. He knew who I was and he knew that I now knew who he was. His eyes became mischievous and his smile grew evil. I shuddered and quickly headed toward my class which unfortunately was in his direction. As I passed he grabbed my arm and whispered in my ear, “See you tonight, child!”
