A Query For Those Knowledgeable in Mormonism

Hello, everyone.

I don't know if this is exactly the correct spot for this, but I need to know something about a bit of Mormon religion for a story.

I want to do something with the idea of Kolob, the place or planet closest to the throne of God. Yes, I got the idea from Battlestar Galactica. However, I want to know some of the intricacies behind this in the actual religion, as I want my idea to turn out differently from the afore-mentioned TV show.

So, can anyone help me out here please?
