Don't see the movie if you love the book! Don't! Consider yourself warned.
Ever seen the notebook? His adaptation of MSK is twice as melodramatic. Jesse's amazing character is played down (he doesn't set fire to anything). Brian hardly gets a look in. All the metaphors of control are left out. It doesn't make sense because ABigail Breslin was cast too young. Worst of all, the ending is completely different!
I think I might have enjoyed the movie if I hadn't read the book. It is quite sensitive and somehow, Sarah's character is still really strong. But I really don't think that the director read the same book as us.
haha yeah. i know how different it is.. but awwweee. i was really looking forward to jesse's character, he was definitley my favorite character in the book. he just stood out to me. !
Oh, I read the book a while ago and absolutely loved it! I cried so much at the end! And then I found out it was being turned into a film and I was really excited!! Then I saw the film. And was sorely disappointed. However, I saw The Time Traveler's Wife (the film) first, and then read the book and thought that the film was a really good adaptation of that. So, sometimes they get it right.

Time travellers wife a good adaptation?! It was supposed to be such a beautiful love story but she was just getting annoyed the whole time. It made me so upset because I'd just read the book and... and... grrr. Grr big time.

The book was one of the best books I have read in a very long time. It was a heartfelt look into a world of surgery and medicine. I love it. But sadly and ironically the movie was a let down. It was simply a oscar bid. Actors wanting to try something "serious" see the word cancer in the script and jump at the chance. I absolutely loved the ending in the book (no spoilers but it is a major twist) and they changed it. As mentioned Jesse is played down. In the book he is a seriously troubled kid, the actor and director had a real chance to make something of this but no. A lot of strong elements are played down. I might have liked the movie if i had never read the book. Kate is played pretty well and I confess I did cry a bit. But if you had to chose between the two, The book is a million times better
Having spent a HUGE chunk of my life dealing with hospitals and medicine, anything of that sort fascinates me. I thought the book was AMAZING - a wonderful and thought-provoking look at a very controversial and perhaps little-known topic.
Did not like the movie. As people have said, a lot about characters and plotlines were totally different. And what the HECK was that ending?? If you ask me, the movie ending completely defeated the purpose of the whole story.
Well, I read the book and I cried too!!! It's so sad!!! i like Julia, the guardian ad litem. She seems so independant! I don't think I'll see the movie though, because I think movies ruin the good things(a.k.a., the books). That's just my opinion though!!!

Despite the fact that, yes, the film was a bad adaptation, I was still weeping from pretty much start to finish. But topics like that really get me. The book also made me cry a little. But, for some reason, I show more outward emotion at films rather than books despite liking the books better.
