Hello, all! My name is Kylie a.k.a. Crash. I've had this community bookmarked for ages and have finally had a chance to lurk around a bit - WOW! I am so impressed with how huge yet tight-knit this community seems! I look forward to getting to know more writers.

I'm 19 and I freelance full time which includes writing a lot of boring web content (gotta pay the bills...) but I enjoy blogging, writing essays and poetry as well. I'm currently scheming a non-fiction book project but the details are still beyond fuzzy, so more on that later.

A little about me:

*I'm up around the clock, as I can only sleep for 3 hours at a time or so. I guess this is called polyphasic sleeping and some people actually train their bodies to work this way, but for me it just kind of happened. It's neat, though!
*I'm a mama-bear-to-be... I was due on August 31, so any day now I will be giving birth to a cute little boy named Kevin Mercury.
*Most of my waking hours are spent online as the internet is where I work AND play. But when I feel the need to put on actual clothes and leave the house, I also enjoy going to open mic night at my favorite coffee place, bumming around Barnes and Noble and doing other cliche creative-type things. After the baby is born, I plan to spend a lot of time going to parks and aquariums.
*My boyfriend is in college and also freelances a bit so we get to hang out together all day in what I like to call our nerd nest. Bliss!
*I am a crazy cat lady.

I suppose that's enough... I look forward to getting to know some of you! This seems like a really awesome place for writers!
Stay Positive & Caffeinated!

I blog & freelance. :]

Hi, Kylie! I'm Lucinda.
I'm new, also, so I'll leave it to the other members to explain the technicalities. ;D
Congratulations! A baby, that's so great. And I *love* the name Kevin.
Crazy cat lady, eh? My parents aren't what you'd call cat people, so I think once I move out, I'll become one. ^^ I'm thinking about a hairless cat. They'd really fit into my eccentric-writer-personal. xD

Hi Kylie!
Wow, you sound real interesting, I'm sure you'll fit right in!
Anyway, here are some of the rules we have around here:
 2:1 ratio. You have to review 2 works for every literary piece you put on here. On October 1st this ratio will go up to 3:1, in November 4:1 and in December 5:1, where it will stay. Gives some of us a chance to do some rather frantic reviewing!
 Dnt spk lyk dis OR LIKE THIS. It is a writers forum (:. Abbreviations like MC, lol and brb are allowed though.
 Respect other members. That's a pretty easy one, just keep swearing in the stories and be kind.
 Rate your work. Pg-13 for swearing and R for sexual content and the f-word. Just so people know what they're getting into!

Now that's over, tell us about yourself. Who's your favourite author? And what genre do you like to read/write best? If you went to a desert island, what three books would you take with you? And what would you take to eat and drink?

By the way, Kevin Mercury is such a cool name!

Look forward to seeing you around!

Hi Kylie,
Welcome to YWS! If you were wondering what the colored names means, here's a clue:

Black: Regular Member. You start out with a black name, it simply stands for being a Regular Member.
Blue: Greeter. A greeter is very active, especially in the Welcome forum. They introduce themselves to new users, so Greeters are probably the first members that you will meet. They are responsible for answering any initial questions.
Purple: Instructors. An instructor takes the time to critique submissions and publish writing tips. Instructors go above and beyond in helping others to improve their writing.
Light Green: Junior Moderators. A Jr. Mod, moderate individual sections on the board. That is, Junior Mods only moderate a single category like Fiction, Poetry, or General Discussion.
Green: Moderators. Moderators are responsible for maintaining entire sections of boards. They keep an eye out for civil discussions, ensuring that vulgar language is appropriately used, warning members when they are out of line, and at all times acting as a representative of YWS.
Red: Administrators. Administrators are responsible for the general upkeep of the board, overseeing all Moderators, Mentors, Instructors, and Greeters. They are also responsible for the direction of the board.

It's great to have you here on YWS. Wow, a mom to be huh? That's exciting! I'd love to read some of your stuff when you post it. Another cat fanatic, that's awesome. I have three cats and at our house we have around 15 tame cats and probably 6-7 feral cats (all neutered/spayed). Welcome, welcome, welcome! If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Hiyas, Kylie! ^-^ Welcome to YWS!

It's wonderful to meet you! You sound like a wonderful person. :) And a baby? How adorable!

You only sleep three hours a night? I couldn't do that, though sometimes I wish I could. ;)

Cats are just to cool. You'll find that a lot of people on the site are totally in love with them. ^-^

But a few questions! What's your favorite part about writing? If you could describe yourself as a car, which one would you be? If you could meet anyone from the past, present, or literary world, who would you meet? ;) Hope you don't mind that I asked some "toughies".

Welcome again to YWS! I look forward to reading your work and seeing you around the site. ^-^ If you need anything, please PM me and I'll help out to the best of my extent.

Smiles!
