What musical album has affected your writing most?

I'm with Kylan. The Killers all the way for me!
Although - it's not just one album. Day and Age influences me a lot, I find each song on there different but thouroughly inspiring. Hot Fuzz I also enjoy - mainly because some of my favourite Killers songs come from that album. Their other albums don't inspire me as such, they just set an amazing atmosphere for me to write in.

Les Miserables: Just epicness in a epic explosion of epic. But this normally leads to my story having a revolutionary flare.

Rhapsody of Fire: Best for fantasy but work either way.

Jekyll & Hyde Musical: Dark and creepy this makes my story tend towards no absolutes, for instance no one absolutely evil.

Apocalyptica: Again just epic.

I get influenced by a lot of different artists (often Finnish rock bands). My main influence will probably be The Rasmus.

The one that I can usually always stick on when I am writing and inspires me is 'Legend by Clannad' their music is just so atmospheric that it always puts me in the right state of mind.

Other than that I tend to listen to a collection of movie soundtracks that I have. From films like The Village, Shawshank Redemption, The Piano, Pride and Prejudice, Road to Perdition, Ladies in Lavender. I have favourite composers too like James Newton Howard, Howard Shore, James Horner, Thomas Newman, John Williams and so on.

Ooh, megadifficult question. Probably the most influential would be Pretty. Odd. by Panic at the Disco, Plans by Death Cab for Cutie, or Absolution by Muse... But that's just the tip of the iceberg, there are, like, 6000 other bands that affected my writing just as much.

There are a billion different albums that affect my writing, but for poetry the French composer Yann Tiersen usually inspires me.

So so many. A lot of Japanese albums, Irish (instrumental) and sometimes rock like Skillet for example. Is not so much as an album as it is a song or two from that album.

After being introduced to Dragonforce by this very thread, it has been an incredible influence on my writing.

It's hard for me to pick a single album, but Styx Greatest Hits has been huge, as well as a lot of Japanese albums. And Sonic Firestorm helped inform the mood of my NaNo.

The Nutcracker. It inspires me to no end. Classical music always helps me think.

Though the Killers give me a ton of ideas too. Hot Fuss is the best.

A Beautiful Lie by 30 Seconds to Mars. For my current novel, at least.

Anything Radiohead. And also some Angus and Julia Stone goes down nicely.

I'd have to say Nickelback's "The Long Road," because it helped me get through my first book. Although, now when I'm writing a rough draft, I prefer to listen to classical music because it works both to block out other noice and to give me the mood I want for that particular part of my book. My favorite is Bethoven's Love Story and Sonata Claro de Luna. Great topic, by the way!

I'm not sure if I can single out one album, or even one song, that has made the most difference in my writing. Everything I listen to, or see, inspires me, and there's no set music that inspires me the most. I do listen to music while writing, and it does sprout some good ideas.
