New Member Here

Hello everyone.

My name is Trey. I've been meaning to join up on this site for a while, and I figured I would go ahead and do it while I was still young enough. (I'm 24) lol. Anyway, I live in Southeast Missouri, USA, and I've been wanting to get going on a writing career for a while now. I'm currently a blogger, and I have aspirations of highlighting original short stories on my blog, so I'm hoping to network with some people on here who would like to participate in that.

Also, I hope to get started on a novel in the near future, but I'm not confident with my fiction writing skills, so I hope to hone them here. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here!

I guess I'm the first person here, so I'll just explain a few rules we have at YWS.

- Firstly, we have a 2:1 ratio policy. This means that you will need to review at least two other pieces of writing before posting your own.

- Also, try not to use chatspeak. We love our grammar!

- Please make sure you rate your work accordingly. This is so that we as reviewers can see what we're getting ourselves into.

Anyways, everyone here at YWS is pretty welcoming, and I'm sure you'll fit right in. A lot of people here blog as well, but I've never really gotten into it that much. I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding people to participate in your project as well. Most of us love writing short stories and would love for our work to be put out there.

What's your novel going to be about? I can't wait to read some of your work, and you've come to the right place if you're wishing to get better at writing.

Yes, I read over the rules, particularly the one about the 2:1 ratio. That won't be a problem!

I actually have several ideas for novels, and I'm not sure which one I want to do first, which is part of the reason that I'm having trouble getting started. However, the one that's biting at me to be written the hardest is about a group of people who are being manipulated by unknown forces. One person is confined to his house, and knows that every several years, someone is going to try to invade his home and kill him, and he has to be ready for it at any time.

I think I want to get going on a few short stories first though, which I can post on here, as well as on my blog for feedback.

One really important thing you should know is that tomorrow, August 17, YWS will be unavailable for a week. This is so that Nate, our [s]king[/s] administrator can replace this old slow YWS with a brand spanking new awesome website. So, you chose kind of a bad time to join, I guess.

But! We have a backup site, http://yws.nathancaldwell.com so we will have a YWS surrogate in place, and you should totally register and post things there. And when this one comes back, it'll be even more amazing.

Hi Trey! Welcome to YWS!!! I hope everyone has been nice!!!! I'm wookielover17 though you probably figured that out. I'm really looking forward to getting to know you and your writing. I'll have to read that blog of yours! And I read that you aren't very confident with your fiction. Trust me I know how you feel. The first thing I thought before I posted my story was "What if they don't like it?" But I had to get over that fear of what they thought and just did it. It turned out that a lot of people liked it and they pointed out all of my mistakes so for my next chapter I could do better. It is such a great feeling knowing that people like what you wrote. But of course you have to post whenever you are ready. So enjoy the YWS experience!!! Go to chat room it is so much fun!! Read and Review people will really appreciate it. And (of course) Write!!! (when you are ready) So yeah this place is so much fun and I hope you have a lot of fun too!!!! Bye!!!

Hi wookielover17, my blog is at http://www.swollenthumb.com I didn't want to put the link in my first post, because I didn't want anyone to think that I just came here to promote my blog. But yeah, I am looking forward to writing some fiction and posting it on here. (Probably after the new forum launches) I am fairly confident about my blogging, but I didn't start out that way, so I guess with a little practice, I can feel the same way about my fiction!
