I think you did a pretty good job, just a few things though. The hand is a little... off. It looks bent around at a funny angel. You might want to give the shirt a little more definition (ie shadows, shading, ect) so you can tell what is cloth and what is skin. The next step would be shading, to make her come to life. Most Manga books have tutorials on how to make the character really pop out of the page and appear more life like once you've shaded them. You could also do it on a computer but I wouldn't be much help there, I kind of suck at coloring on computers. So good job and keep up the good work!

I love this drawing. I'm an artist and only one thing I saw bothered me...just one!:D You can barely tell her head is slanted. Other than that, you did lovely!!! :D you should make more and color them.

Hi Foxfire!
This is nicely drawn. I love who you did the face.

I have to admit though, the arm is very short compared to the other one. It's very visible. *Sorry* I also find her very muscle..y or something. Her arms are a little freaky in size. The jacket is away from the girl's body but tight around her arms which makes her arms look even bigger. Another thing I noticed is that her neck look a little small in proportion to the face.

But I have to admit you draw anime much better than me.
Love,

Hi there!

You draw really well!
First off, the hair is really nicely done! I know how difficult it can be to draw anime hair, so I appreciate it when I see it! :)

Just two things bothered me, both on the left side of her body.
The arm that is bent, is it supposed to be on her hip? Because nobody really stands with their hand bent backwards, it usually exposes the fingers, and gives it a "real" sense.
The top on the left side is also a bit funny. It comes straight down her side, whereas the top clings to her body on the other side. At first I wasn't sure whether it was female or male!!

You've done a good job though! The face and hair are very nicely done - especially the eyes!

Keep it up!

Hey foxfire.
Long time, no talk eh? xD
How have you been?

I see your drawing has gotten incredibly better, I have to say. Your progression is quite impressive. I do really like your faces and eyes. They have become quite impressive. I am glad to see how this turned out. I am going to review it like it is anime, because it doesn’t look much like realism. If you want, I can redo this in realism, or any other form of art. Shall we begin?

Image

Point One
My first point is actually about your arms. The reason why I pointed it out is not because of the length different but because they are actually very short, too short indeed.

Anime actually reflects a lot of the real human anatomy except for a couple differences. Their arms are actually longer and thinner then human arms, but it still matches that anatomy fairly well. Somebody’s forearm would actually be around the same length of that same person’s head. The length of both arms and chest, in one single line, is almost the same as the person’s height. Let that reflect in your actual anime drawing. Know how tall they are supposed to be, then use that judge the arm span, and then use the forearm length to judge the size of the head. In anime though, the head is supposed to be slightly bigger so it doesn’t matter. Remember this is approximate. Don’t follow the measurements exactly. Give a few differences here and there.

Then the other thing I have to comment on is the part that I mainly highlighted. That is because it looked like you were trying to incorporate muscles in the arm. When having muscles in arms, you have to make sure they are located and drawn in the right places. That is why I myself stay away from drawing heavily muscled people. It takes a lot of referencing to figure out where all the visible muscles are. If you wish for muscles, search up another picture up on Google. Reference it and located where the lines are supposed to go, rather then blindly placing them in certain places.

Point Two
My second point actually is about the hair. You will notice that I pointed out on part in particular. That is because it is the most specific part I have to talk about.

Your hair has gotten a lot better, and I do like it. One thing for sure is that when you have hair, even in anime, it has to all logically go in one direction, especially if it is being blown in the wind like it appears in this picture. In anime, you have a lot of freedom with the hair styles. In this case, I particularly like it. You have to make sure that you hair goes in one direction. The part I selected out was a part of the hair that didn’t flow with the wind. You have to think about it logically like shading. The light is coming from one way, in this case it is the wind coming from one way. With shading, you have to shade darker where the light is not, with the hair you have to make the hair flow in the direction the wind is going, or a little bit lower because hair is heavier.

You did pretty good with this, the only piece I really have a problem is with the actual bang. Make sure that is following the pattern of the rest of the hair.

Point Three
The third point is about eyebrows. You drew them quite good, except that the one needs to be a tad be longer. That is all.

Though I do want to remind you the thing a lot of people forget. Eyebrows are incredibly important for drawing emotions. You have to make sure that the eyebrows reflect how you want them to feel, and are properly drawn. I also recommend fooling around with them and figuring out new expressions for your people. It will make your pictures seem more lifelike and have more expression.

Point Four
I highlighted the ear this time. That is because it is fairly off. I, having an eye for detail, and a slight perfectionist, couldn’t just sit by and not say anything about it.

In real proportion, the ear is supposed to sit between in the eye and the nose approximately. And that should reflect on anime styles. Your ear is way to high. It should be a bit lower, not higher than the eye. It is not that important, but I noticed it anyways.

The next thing I have to say is the detail in the ear. You ears detail is… lacking shall we say. Understandable right? Well, a simple line on the inner side isn’t enough because it could be anything then. Your ears shape is also a bit off. It should be broader at the top, then smaller at the bottom. When drawing ears in anime, You surely don’t have to draw all the details in the ear, but enough for people to get the point. I recommend looking at another picture of an anime ear and practicing until you get the anatomy right. It is fine right now, but it could be so better. ;)

Point Five
Point Five is mostly about the bust and the shoulder area. There is a couple of things wrong that confuses me.

First off, I want to ask, is this character male or female. I am guessing female because of the breasts drawn in, but it could me man pecks. I am going to guess this character is a female, and I shall review it as so. ;o

No matter how awkward this is going to be, but I have to say that her boobs are definitely uneven. You have to make sure they are matching. And maybe make her look a bit more feminine in that area because at the moment in time, she looks a little flatsy-patsy. The whole drawing is drawn on an angle, but the boobs are accordingly on the opposite angle. I recommend making sure those make proper sense. I would tell you to get a reference for them, but that’s another very awkward thing to say. xD

I have a bit of a problem with the shoulders, though I am not quite so sure why. I am thinking that they should be a bit wider, but that is according to my style. In normal anime, they are really tall and lithe so their shoulders can be a bit narrower, and I think their heads may be a bit smaller. In yours, because I don’t know the actual height, I instantly think short and stubby. I recommend making the head a bit smaller, and maybe the shoulders a bit broader. Try making the torso a bit skinnier following the curvaceous anatomy of a girl a bit more, and make it look more feminine and less box cut.

Point Six
And so here is my last point. I want to comment on the clothes. My highlight is in a random place, so you have nothing to worry about there in particular.

My first thing is that there is no wrinkles in the clothing, nothing to make it more realistic or even anime like. It is more cartoonish then anything, but even then they have a bit more wrinkles in the clothing. You have to add dimension and lines in logical places to make the clothing seem real and believable. The jacket for instance only has wrinkles or evidence of them with the boobs. You have to add the creases in other places. Make it awesome, and amazing. Add those lines and creases to make it look all that much better.

My next comment is on the actual top that she is wearing. How does it work? I see that there is a neck thingy that connects to the rest of the fabric, but how does the rest of the shirt work? Is the shirt skin tight so it just stays? I don’t think that is very logical. I would add some bands in places like where the shirt ends to show sign of how the shirt works. And then even add a bit of some cool designs. That way it would look realistic. Who wears just plain cloths all the time? Have fun with it. Be creative. The sky is the limit.

Overall
Your drawing certainly has gotten better. I have been in the same position myself. I haven’t been able to draw in forever, and just one day I picked it up again and started doodling. I am actually drawing a house right now, but rest assured, that won’t be appearing on this site. xD

I am glad to see how well your drawing is doing. Though my biggest recommendation though is for you to read some anatomy books, practice drawing certain parts of the human body. Learn from references of other anime characters you have seen. Learn from your mistakes and become better.

I would also love to see you try shading for once. I would be glad to help you with it if you have problems, but your pictures would look great with a bit more dimension to it. It would give it a whole new effect to it and I am sure it would be a positive one. I would love to see more of your work. It is quite impressive.

PM me if you have any questions.
