My Book Review
My book review is on missing Judy. I chose this book because it was written by one of my favourite authors Anne Cassidy. This book was very entertaining. The language that Anne Cassidy uses is interesting yet descriptive. It doesn’t bore you at all. I think Anne Cassidy is a very cleaver author for this reason. Although it was a good book I preferred the story of my life, and looking for JJ, they were also written by Anne Cassidy. I feel that they were better for I could really paint a picture and imagine myself their. But with missing Judy I could only read it and picture what was going on in my head. The book is really moving has not got a slow start.
One of the main things in a book that makes me want to read on is the beginning. If it has quite a slow start then I find it harder to get into than ones which get straight to the story. But although this story took a while before I got into it, it had an amazing beginning. Some people would find it hard to understand the way Cassidy structures her work and sometimes the language that she uses. She starts in the present then looks to the past and ends in the present.She, by this has made me think that not all books that don’t get straight to the point are boring.
Cassidy creates a negative attitude at the beginning because it is about a girl who has lost her sister and she was with her when it happened. The two sisters were walking home from school. The elder of the two carrying her school report, and therefore hurrying to get home to show her parents. But she was to busy looking at her school report to look around her and see what was going on. However, when she does eventually look around her sister is not there. She immediately presumes that her sister will pop up from around the corner. But her sister never does.
This beginning may sound complicated, but is in fact not so. The reason for this is because the only complicated thing about it is how she structures her work, and in parts the language she uses. It then goes onto saying that she goes back to the future, and even now, 5 years on she still sees children walking about, and hopes that she will see her sister. Then her friend has some news for her and it could help her onto finding more information on her sister.
The book is written in the 3rd person. Thois was really effective because you could feel exactly how the girl was feeling, it was as if you were inside her, or you were her. You can learn so much about life from this book. It teaches you that don’t wish your life away and don’t imagine things or you will just end up getting hurt.
I conclude that this story is fantastic for the plot of the story is great and I love reading books which are a mystery, and therefore I would recommend it for children about my age. The reason for this is because the story line is complicated and some of the language she uses can be a bit on the complicated side too. I also think that this book would be a bit too complicated for younger readers for these specific reasons. But overall I really enjoyed it. But however I feel that it didn’t really challenge me in my reading, but it is one of the best books I have ever read. The characters in the story really seemed real and alive. You could almost feel them in you as if you actually new them. I think the way she catches the readers attention is absolutely great, and would therefore urge you to read this book, and bear in mind that if you do find a book that has a long start hard to get into then trust me on this one because I do and although this book has a long start it didn’t bore me at all. I actually thought it was very entertaining.
