This is about a friend of mine who fell in love with a guy she shouldn't have. That was four years ago and she's still not over him, which has had me worrying about her for years. The points in the song are dramatised for effect (for example, she's not suicidal), but the principle is the same. I'm no musician, but I'm working on the chords.

---

She's in love with him and she doesn't know why
When she's certain that he's not the right guy
Every night she lays her down to cry and cry
Just to get over him she wishes she could die

Her friends want to help her but she’s shut them all out
Nobody knows what this is all about
They’re all so worried and they’re all in doubt
And that poor girl oh she just wants to shout

Why is she so in love with him
Why can’t she just let go
She lies on her bed and she’s sobbing and praying
Her heart says “Yes” but she knows the answer’s “No”
Why can’t she let go of this love

One of her friends writes this song late at night
All I want is an end to my friend’s fight
I hate to see such a terrible sight
Of that girl broken and nothing gone right

Why is she so in love with him
Why can’t she just let go
She lies on her bed and she’s sobbing and praying
Her heart says “Yes” but she knows the answer’s “No”
Why can’t she let go of this love

She’s in love with him and she doesn’t know why
When she’s certain that he’s not the right guy
Her friends want to help her but she’s shut them all out
Nobody knows what this is all about

Why can’t she just let go
She lies on her bed and she’s sobbing and praying
Her heart says “Yes” but she knows the answer’s “No”
Why can’t she let go
False love
Cruel love
Let her go

She’s in love with him and she doesn’t know why

I really like the song.
Just one question:

Why is she so in love with him
Why can’t she just let go
She lies on her bed and she’s sobbing and praying
Her heart says “Yes” but she knows the answer’s “No”
Why can’t she let go of this love

She’s in love with him and she doesn’t know why
When she’s certain that he’s not the right guy
Her friends want to help her but she’s shut them all out

Why can’t she just let go
She lies on her bed and she’s sobbing and praying
Her heart says “Yes” but she knows the answer’s “No”
Why can’t she let go

is this whole thing the chorus?
Well if it isn't then why are the stanzas repeating
And if it is
I think its very long.

I like the rhyme scheme.
I like the rhythm, I was able to hear the song in my head, which is good.
Over all it really good, just that one thing is confusing me.

Good Job

Keep Writing

This was very well written, and I can very much relate. I know you're worried, but if she's still in love with him after four years, that means she was really in love with him. I'm in the same situation, but I'm sort of that girl, and not the friend. You have to giver her time, and she may never get over him, but it will take a long time before she is able to even pretend she is over him. I would suggest just being there for her, but I can't give you any more advice.
Beautifully written; I can't wait to hear it on the radio :).

I like this, it happens to girls all the time. I hope your friend gets over him.
As for the lyrics I think I found a few errors
Every night she lays her down to cry and cry

I think maybe it's "she lays her head down to cry and cry".

I got a vivid visual on this line, just a little girl, hurt and in pain.
Screaming but know one will listen. When they do listen to her it's like they don't understand.
And that poor girl oh she just wants to shout

I assume your the friend she shuts out. It's always good to express emotion and reality through literature as you have done.

I think the line
Her heart says “Yes” but she knows the answer’s “No”
should be but her head says "No". I know it's kinda a cliche line but it fits better in the verse.

I love this, it's very emotional
False love
Cruel love
Let her go

Honestly, I loved this.
Very good work!
I hope you work things out with your friend :)

I didn't like the song. I really didn't like the exaggerations because they seem very unrealistic. In this case you should write it containing more truth then exaggerating because it ends up sounding awkward.

"Every night she lays her down to cry and cry
Just to get over him she wishes she could die"

that part was just unusual. the whole song should be re-written to sound more mature
