Run and hide, she's doing poetry! Yes, I, too, am attempting to do NaPo. I've been fairly blocked on the poetry front lately, so please don't expect anything grand. Most of these are not going to be very good. General tips are still greatly welcomed, though.

Also please note, that I won't be able to update this every day; no update is not equivalent to no poetry. ;) (For example now I'm just posting the very first one.)

April 1

Accomplishment

I ran a mile today.

With my feet I crushed the grass
and some of spring’s first flowers.
The butterfly I passed too fast
to recognize its colors.

The cuckoo’s cry I did not hear,
my pulse loud in my ears.
Baby Bambi ran away
my pounding scared the deer.

Still. I ran a mile.

Kalli! O.o I loved this! I have a feeling that there's some meaning under the analogy of running a mile but crunching everything you trod on-- maybe like acheiving something great, even though you made plenty of mistakes along the way.

My only issue is with the Bambi reference. :? Not sure. It just doesn't seem to fit.

But goodness gracious, if this is your bad poetry, PM me when you get something good up. ;)

That was so sweet, Kalli! And I disagree with Evi in this – I liked the Bambi. Only problem I had with that, was the comme ci comme ça rhyming... it seemed a little vague to me.

But I thought this was cute! Good luck in NaPo!

Thank you so much guys. You're restoring some of my faith in my abilities as a poet. ^_^ I won't have Internet for the next ten days or so, hence expect a load of poetry in here when I'm back. I think I'll just post April second's. (The others will come when I hopefully have a few good ones to balance them out with. :D)

April 2

I dreamt of the wide
blue sky -- until an airplane
left a long white scratch.

Just a few, so it won't be too many when I get back. And yes, still terrible, but maybe with some work some of them will improve.

April 7

Carnivores

Alligator meat --
stuck between her teeth.
(Who's eating who now?)

April 9

not poetry

this is no poem
that would mean it would rhyme
this is no song
'cause I cannot sing

I'm not a person
that would mean I would speak
not anything else
because I look like a girl

this is my poem, this is my song
I'm not doing it right
but I'm writing to try

to speak.

April 10

Skinner Box

Size me up -- lock me
into your skinner box. Force
me through. Go figure.

I love this one.

I like not poetry as well, I definitely relate to it. ^^

Haha. I love this! And also this one:

I dreamt of the wide
blue sky -- until an airplane
left a long white scratch.

And you're first poem was just brilliant!
